You order and pay at the counter. They have high chairs available for kids, which was appreciated. Food came out promptly and the presentation was really good. The steak n' cheese grinder (~$12) was just that, steak and cheese. I would've expected onions, lettuce, and peppers, which would've made it much better. A simple heads up that it comes plain and toppings are available would've gone a long way. Another person got the chicken parm grinder and said it was merely alright. We got the 10-piece wings (~$14). For some reason, you can only pick one flavor on a 10-piece order. We chose the Spicy BBQ, and they were really good, even though they weren't actually spicy. The cheeseburger (~$14) was also yummy and came with fries. The other burgers on the menu looked really good and would probably be the main reason I'd come back. Service was the biggest miss. It wasn't bad, but it felt indifferent and impersonal. No waters were offered, and the main guy was on his phone most of the time. The bathroom was probably one of the worst I've seen in a while. The toilet seat itself had poop on it. Not just that it wasn't flushed, I'm talking about the actual seat. Considering we were one of only two groups there, this should have been taken care of quickly. Pricing was on the higher side, which is why I expected a better overall experience. Overall, I think this place has a lot of potential because the food itself was good, but the service and cleanliness need improvement. read more

We did take out for dinner. My wife had a mushroom burger and I had a Gorgonzola burger. Both were very well made and delicious. Fries were also very good. Looked like they were expanding their dining area. Will try different items next time and might make this a regular spot if everything is as good as the burgers! read more

The grinders were very good and had good amount of filling. Only had room for half and will have the rest the next day. Also ordered the onion rings. They were huge. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. We will order from them again and will send our friends there. We will be back to try the pizza. I had their pizza and subs( sausage and peppers my favorite), pasta which are all great. But I was in there one day talking to one of the owners. We always joke about having green olives on my pizza. I do this is because one the sandwich's my mom used to make for us. Green olives and cream cheese on wonder bread. She asked have I tried her lasagna . I hadn't but I tried it. It was so close to my mother's . Layers of homemade sauce ( gravy ), meat sauce and ricotta. Soooo good. I would happily recommend this restaurant. There are counter seats and three booths. Great prices, they still have all there COVID stuff up(end of 2021)and the restaurants dine in is closed and it's kinda weird(you'll have to go in person to see it, they have a desk blocking the door). I've been ordering from there off and on since they moved to Palmer. There's nothing special about them other than I've never had a bad meal and that's huge! I've eaten at all the pizza and grinder shops in Palmer and will say Roadside is the most consistent and best value. In today's market that's huge. While others have used vivid for an excuse to downsize menus and service, Roadside has stayed consistent with who they are and for that they get a great rating from me! I came in to patronize a local business rather than subway 3 doors down. I pleasantly and significantly tipped the counter girl after ordering my sub. She said it will be 15 minutes. The restaurant is 100% empty and the are FOUR people working here. She went back and put my order in, but the guys working in the kitchen were already busy checking out some facebook posting. The four of them proceeded to chat, I stood up and looked back in the kitchen to give a hint and the cook finally moved toward making my sandwich. I would send a complaint in, but I think one of them may be the owner. I hope the food is good. Customer service is not. read more

We were only in Palmer for a few hours but decided to grab lunch here on a whim. The food was fantastic, the service was great, and it was well priced. We ordered a special, two grinders, two sodas, and fries for only $21. It was a lot of great quality food and I would highly recommend the steak bomb grinder. Great grinders. They have the seasoned fries, which I love. The pizza seems like it's a pre bought frozen crust, it just visually looks too perfect, like a pizza Hut crust or something. UPDATE sent my husband in to get me some buffalo wings (pregnancy craving). He ordered a 10 piece order of wings. When he arrived home with them 3 of the 10 wings were inedible, little blobs of overcooked chicken attached to the end of a broken bone. We get take-out from Roadside frequently. They have a great variety of foods - pizza, sandwiches, calzones, salads, etc. - so there is always something to please everyone in the family. Their alfredo pizza and white pizza are great alternatives to the traditional tomato sauce pizzas. Their wings are great - love the buffalo tenders and buffalo chicken sandwich. My kids love the burgers and chicken tenders with waffle fries. The sweet potato fries and onion rings are great starters or sides. If you're looking for something sweet, try the fried dough bites. They are soft and warm and the vanilla icing is a great addition. The cheesy garlic bread is great, too. Overall, it's a great local pizza place. They're always busy, so call far ahead of when you want your food. read more

I would rate this place three and a half stars if it were an option, but in a place like Palmer it's a four star place. I had a cheeseburger that was very tasty, and definitely several levels better than your standard fast food burger. I got a platter with sweet potato fries and I could tell they were freshly made. Pretty disappointed with this place. We arrived half an hour before closing and ordered two grinders and a salad. It took them nearly twenty minutes to bring our food out. The food was alright, nothing too special. When we got it we were very passive aggressively told that the close in a couple of minutes. So because they took a long time making our food we were only allowed to eat half of it and had to eat the rest in the car. Would not recommend. read more

Avoid this place like the plague!!! They erroneously sent a delivery driver to my family's house last week (even though we didn't order a pizza from them). The pizza driver proceeded to crash on the driveway and cause extensive damage to the curb and lawn. We were nothing but respectful to the driver, even using OUR vehicle to deliver THEIR pizza to the correct address. A few days later, upon requesting to speak to the owner about the incident, my father was sworn at and told they did not care - "sue the driver, not my problem," the owner said. The owner subsequently hung up. Upon our calling back, another employee exploded into a tirade of cursing and screaming, then hung up. I can't believe the lack of class displayed from this group. Utterly outrageous. They should have been nothing but accommodating, but instead threw their employee under the bus and acted like we had no right to be angry about our property being damaged. We didn't order a pizza or request that they come onto our property. They damaged our property significantly, and now they act like WE are in the wrong. Owner is absolutely classless, and it is reflected by employees. Caution to all who enter their parking lot - one of their delivery drivers just might hit you, and we know Roadside won't take any responsibility whatsoever. TERRIBLE! read more

This is one of my favorite pizza places in the entire country. When their Wilbraham location closed, I was really disappointed (even though I'm only in Massachusetts once a year), but when I found out they were open in Palmer, we stopped by on our next trip! No good. We live ten minutes away, ordered at 6:30 pm and was told on a Thursday night it was a 30-35 minute wait. We walked out with our take out 25 minutes after the proposed wait time. Pizza was not good, had some large breadcrumbs sprinkled on top which looked and tasted funny. Ordered steak and cheeses as well, the steak was barely chopped, had large hunks of steak that was chewy. Also ordered spicy cheese fries that were undercooked, over spiced, and I'm pretty sure had cheese wiz on them. We were really disappointed. Agreed with the good Mr. Thomas; this place is an actual GOOD place, and in Palmer, that is saying a LOT. It's the third restaurant I know that's taken this place and though the interior is still rather spartan, it's made up by the food. The food is honestly great, the few staff on board are nice, and best of all, they don't have wonky hours. My only concerns are nothing that they're doing wrong but more of what might be held in the future. Not exactly the place with the best reputation - three restaurants there in what, five years and the lack of stand-out decor may make it ultimately forgettable. These guys are OK, at best. I've ordered a few of the items on their menu, but tend to order my usual of chicken caesar salad. Their chicken is just OK on the salad. I'm wondering if they use the frozen bag of chicken strips often found at the local Big Y. Sometimes their portions are spot on, other times you have to wonder if they're hurting for cash, scrimping and saving where they can. I often order 2 meals for a friend and I and there have been many times where their portion for fries seemed pretty good, to down right ridiculous. I like how they hide the ketchup packet underneath the fries, giving the illusion of more food. For the prices, I'd say they're just OK. Their delivery is spot on, though.
