I have to admit, I spend $10 bucks every time I come just so my kiddos can get enough tickets to buy approximately .50 worth of candy (yeah, we aren't very good at playing the games), but I don't really care. I do wish they offered more in the way of food, and some of their games need updating. At the same time, this is my kids' favorite place and it's light years better than Chuck E. Cheese, which to me is the Appleby's of kids places, i.e. the pit of despair, the I-liked-it-as-a-kid-but-now-it-eats-my-soul sort of place that if my kids suggest it, I openly ignore them. Sorry, Weston and Afton. Anywho, I think most people will enjoy a place like this. If you're looking to score tickets, try the pirate spin game, the monster ball drop, and the little spinning circles by the ticket machines. Looking for something to do with the kids that does not cost alot? This is the place to go,not only will your kids enjoy it you will as well. The have alot of old video games that I'm sure will bring back childhood memories for you. I'm talking about the original Donkey Kong, Tetris, Mrs. Pac Man ect... Keep in mind that even though it costs a nickel all games require several nickels, So the catch I'm sure is in that...Some games were not working and a few took our money (we had to call the attendant) but it was still a cheap fun time.The prizes for your tickets from the games were the same as all these type of places which is your better off buying somthing at Dollar Tree (eraser=80 tickets-YIKES!) It was small inside but alot of games to play all packed in and there was even a laser tag room, party rooms and a little dining are where you can order pizza & soda. Loved Nickel City when I lived in Provo. The games are fun, but the laser tag is what makes it. $4 for 15 minutes. Small enough that you will nearly always be around the corner from someone, which I prefer, and you can see your laser when you shoot. Employees are fantastic. Watch out if you end up playing against a young guy named Holden. A couple years ago at least, we were pretty sure he lived at Nickel City. Absolute beast at laser tag. read more

They are pretty cheap and nice. It is pretty well taken care of inside also. The only downside is there is a lot of college kids who bring dates here for a cheap date. Then when you bring the kids it's way packed and busy. The staff is always friendly and nice. And the kids love it. And for 2 dollars to get in and a few nickels per game. First of all, every thing is not just a nickel. It is just a little bit misleading In fact some of the machines even required a Nichols some for some six and every once a while only one. Disclaimer: This place is as fun as you make it! I actually had a get together with my friends before my wedding here and I've never had so much fun. I paid the $2.25 to get in and another $5 in nickles, but it was all worth it. We spent 30 minutes or so playing video games, but we quickly realized the thrill of winning the ticket jackpots. Here is the strategy. identify the BINGO game (this games is the one that is played like PLINKO but with nickles of course). There are four sides, look to see which side has 3-4 letters already lite up. Then try to light up the last letter and you get a major jackpot. It takes time and determination, but trust me, once those tickets start pouring out, you'll be glad you listened. This is a great place to go for a date or a group outing. There is a large variety of old and new games, all of which are in good condition. Many people have an aneurysm when they find that some of the new games, like Deal or No Deal, cost 8 nickels. In any normal arcade, such a game can cost 4-8 quarters, so it's a better deal than most people give it credit for. Of course, in a town full of college kids and Mormons, everyone is going to think that everything is expensive. The laser tag arena is also the best in Provo. The vests are high quality. The arena is small, with a maximum occupancy of 16 people playing at a time, but the small arena facilitates more carnage. read more

TL;DR - Good pizza, great staff, great selection of games (redemption and non-redemption), very affordable price ($2.25 entrance fee, 5-15 cents for most games), Nickle City keeps you coming back for more. My mother has taken me to Nickle City ever since I was a kid and it was the Nicklecade a few miles down the street. It's a very friendly place for kids and retro gamers alike, and for a very affordable $2.25 entrance fee (how else would they make money?) and most of the games, arcade and redemption alike, cost 5-15 cents per game. They even stamp your hand if you want to come back later that day so you don't have to pay the entrance fee again! The main desk staff is friendly, and sometimes give you 'extra' tickets by rounding up or a little extra candy if you buy in bulk, and their maintenance crew, although I've never seen one of them (I think), seems to be on point, as there are hardly ever any broken-down or hard-to-operate (bad joystick or buttons, wonky screen, etc.) games, and if there are any, they are almost always in the back of the building, and a working game is almost always in it's place. There's a wide wide wide variety of people there during busier times. You have all sorts of people, like a children's birthday party where even the adults are getting more nickels for themselves and joining in on the laser tag, or the teenagers who go there and try to Every time I go there, there's always a new redemption game just drawing me into it with it's seemingly easy jackpot, but really keeps you sliding nickles into the slot so you can get the thrill of winning the big number JUST ONE TIME. They have a wide variety of all sorts of games. Now, listen here. Nickle city has laser tag. But it's not any old laser tag, it's possibly the best laser tag in Utah county. The only thing that could make it any better is a bigger arena. The laser tag features high-quality laser guns and vests, allowing for precision shooting and awesome entertaining gameplay. The vests aren't too heavy, and the spots where you can shoot (including 2 on the gun) are the perfect size. There's only 2 modes that I know of which are Free for All and Team Play, both of which are fun and awesome if everyone follows the rules (don't run around corners, no crouching or laying down). They have lasers, fog, blacklights, and neon-colored obstacles in the arena, along with music of your choice, for an overall awesome gameplay experience. The only downside is if someone shoots a laser in your eye! The food choices are kind of low (pizza, pizza and pizza), but the food they do have is surprisingly good! I ate my pizza not expecting much from such an affordable arcade, but It's actually quite tasty. The bathroom is in okay, but really all I do in there is use the toilet and wash my hands. But - it's not so good in practice: Not ALL the games are a nickel, and many of the machines are broken or don't work correctly. We took our 3 kids here (ages 9, 6, 3) and they had a blast. It's only $2.25 to get in and then all the games use nickels instead of quarters or tokens. It had a good variety of ticket games and regular video games. I thought the facility was very clean and well taken care of. My kids said they had a good selection of redemption prizes and they liked it a lot better than Chuck E Cheese. We will definitely be back. read more

Came here today with my kids & grandkids. What a blast! The place was busier that I expected for a Monday afternoon. There were 9 of us in our party. My kids enjoyed the laser tag and the other games. There was enough stuff for my grandkids to do too. They are ages 1 year to 5 years old. We ordered 2 pizzas while there too. The pizza was better than expected. Overall I spent $65 on everything including 3 game cards, the older kids paid for the laser tag. A better value then Chuck E Cheese. Let me begin my review by saying that we went to Chuck E. Cheese last week and Nickel City is far and away better in every respect. When I was paying our admission, I tried to use a coupon, the man at the counter pointed out that I had brought in a coupon for Nickel Mania, not nickel city, but despite my mistake he gave me a discount on our entrance fee, which I thought was very nice. I was very impressed by the games, there is a wide selection, including DDR and Guitar Hero (some of my favorites), as well as a huge variety of ticket winning games and old school arcade games. We really enjoyed the giant fruit ninja game and the new Pac-man game that you play against each other. The games do not skimp on tickets either, we got enough that my kids were very excited at their haul, and the toys you can get with your tickets are not awful either. The laser tag was really fun too, even for my 5 year old. The bathrooms are actually clean and maintained. Lastly, the pizza is really not bad, especially for the price. Decently sized with a more than adequate portion of cheese. Much better than the Chuck E. Cheese pizza we had last week. This is the best arcade/family fun center I am aware of in Utah county. read more
