Love this spot. Cute little shop full of some good old fashioned fun. Has some classic games, shoot em up types, one button push ones, luck of the draw and even ski ball. They even have those lame little prizes at the counter for the three tickets you win. Surprisingly really fun. Especially if you go with someone who isn't all about the winning of it all. We booked a birthday party there. It was very last minute and they were so accommodating. Both kids and adults had so much fun! We went at a pretty busy time but we never waited long for anything. Service was incredible. Palmer served our party and he was so patient and kind. An older gentleman named Steve really went above and beyond for our party. We reserved a room for a birthday party and the service was amazing. They had the room set up prior to our arrival. Steve truly made our night both the kids and adults! Never go there on a weekend. Insanely packed. Hordes of unsupervised children. Tons of wait times to even try a machine.

It's a fun arcade in a great location with some fun games. You do have to pay just to get in and spend money which I'm not a fan of. We also went on a Saturday which wasn't smart. It was so dang packed that it wasn't as fun. There were lines for games and some games weren't even working. read more

This place used to be our go to stop a couple years ago. However in 2024, it will no longer be our go to arcade for the for SLC area. Half of the machines are completely broken and you can't play, other machines don't pay out jackpots or are missing vital buttons to their functionality. The lack of respect this arcade has received from its owners is sickening. You still pay the same entry fee and amounts to the games even though half of them don't work and their prizes have been lowered. Do not come here and do not support them. The only good thing I can say is it has remained relatively cheap for the the economy we live in. read more

It's an OK place, but not as good as some of the other nickel places. Admission is the standard ~$2 to get in. The first think you'll notice is that there aren't as many games as similar places. I'm pretty sure there used to be even more games here the last time I was here a few years ago, but it seems laser tag has taken up a good chunk of the place. The pinball selection is disappointing. There is just a single Star Wars machine. It's a fun one, and I was able to set a decent score and get a few extra balls out of it, but that's the only pinball. It was fairly busy on Saturday night, so I didn't get to play it as much as I would have liked. Some of the competing places have whole rows of pinball machines, so this was a disappointment. It seems like most of the games are focused on earning you tickets. Some might enjoy that, but I've never felt like I come out "on top" when I play those games. I prefer to just play the classic arcade games. They've got a few of them, but again, not as many as I could have sworn they had in the past. They've got the classics, Ms. Pacman (which played really fast, but was fun), Donkey Kong, TMNT, and a few others, but they are definitely missing the selection you can find at some of the other places. Oh, and most of the games take 2 nickels or more. I can't think of a single one that only took 1 nickel. Except the place doesn't take nickels, it takes a card that you scan on each machine and can reload at other machines. It's basically a way for them to either guarantee you will come back, or guarantee they will keep money off of lost cards or people that don't come back. Not cool. I'm not sure I'd go back. If I was stuck in Orem, I'd go, but since I'm not, I feel like I might as well go elsewhere. read more

We tried out Nickel City tonight as a family and we had a great time! We were surprised how busy it was on Wednesday night, but apparently it's the place to go for date night for college kids. The entry price was $2.50 per person and you can add as much money to your card after that. It had a lot of fun different games. The games were mostly for older aged kids around 5+. My daughter was is 2 was able to play most of the games with help. We put $10 on each kids game card and ended up with around 65 tickets. The prizes for tickets were not the great unfortunately and you had to earn a lot of tickets for the good prizes. The staff working there was very friendly and informative. read more

Easy to use, reasonable prices. I did not feel like this was a grimy hole in the wall like most arcade places are. It was decently crowded on a Friday afternoon with all age groups. They have a good variety of games. Our favorites were Deal or No Deal, Guitar Hero, Basketball, DDR, and Space Invaders. The employees are helpful and cheery. We spent $5.00 on entry ($2.50 each) and another $15.00 in nickels to put on our game card. That kept us busy for about an hour and a half. The prizes are dollar store finds with some cool stuff mixed in between. We came away with a cool Indian flute and some candy. Great place to kill an hour or so. read more

My kids love this place. We come here every time we are in Utah. The staff is super attentive and really cares if there are problems with games and they are super cool and great w the kids when they trade in tickets for prizes. The outside of the building looks a bit nicer on the standards of other arcades. When you walk in, they have people ready to assist you. There is an admission fee of $2.25 and instead of giving you nickels, they give you a playing card instead. It's very interesting and efficient. You scan the card and it is just like putting nickels in the machine. Also, instead of receiving tickets, they just add tickets to your card. This is very efficient, but I don't receive as much joy and fulfillment from just adding tickets to my card rather than grabbing the tickets with my own hands... There was a wide variety of arcade games and the games looked pretty new, but the only problem was that a lot of the games were under maintenance when we went. It felt like about a third of the games were unavailable. For example, the photo booth was unavailable, 3 or 4 of the racing games were unavailable, and more. Ray and I both bought $10 worth of nickels (200 nickels) on our cards, but we were bored by the time we hit 100 nickels left because so many of the games were not working. Everything at this arcade was fine, except for the games, which is the whole point of an arcade... The people were nice and assisted us as soon as possible. The way they use cards instead of nickels is neat. The prizes were pretty great; I thought some of the prizes were better than Nickelmania. The only thing that was not good about this arcade was the amount of games that were unavailable. It was kind of ridiculous. read more

Literally the best date night my wife and I have had in awhile! It's extremely cheap compared to any arcade you'll ever see and you can splurge like you always wanted to as a kid, hours of fun for $35 with games costing only nickels at a time. Guy at the counter was amazingly polite and helpful and even hooked us up by rounding our tickets up to 1000 just to make the whole experience better. I'll be coming here OFTEN. Only downside was that I was definitely lied to about how busy it would be, my search browser said that it wouldn't get very busy with it being a Wednesday night, but it got packed after about 8:00pm when it said it'd die down. read more

In terms of nickel places we have been this is probably the cleanest and nicest in relation to the newer games. Most in salt lake county have very dated games and a lot usually broken. So in that area it is great. There are a couple issues though. It was insanely crowded to the point we couldn't play a game without being bumped into and a lot of unpleasant teens with no manners at all. And another huge annoyance is parking is simply put atrocious. It was a fun time would probably be better not during weekends. read more

I've been here a couple times before but this time was super different! We fell in love with this place all over again. We went on a Friday night around 7 PM. It was busy but not too busy! Of course it got busier as the night went on. It costs $2.50 per person to get into the arcade and you can load however much to the cards they provide. They have a great variety of games for both adults and kids! There was literally only two machines out of order, irrelevant but out of order machines are like the Corona to places like this lol. The staff is nice and they maintain the arcade very well! I was nervous with the whole COVID-19 pandemic going on but they recommended masks, had clean and sanitized their games. They also provided hand sanitizer at the ticket counter. They had rooms for parties and the rooms looked super spacious and clean. There were lots of chairs in the rooms and it was private! The ticket counter had a huge variety of prizes for kids and the staff made it easy for my kids to select prizes. By the way, I did notice that they were connected to a pizza restaurant! I was not hungry enough to try it BUT I will be returning to do so! I will also have to return to get photos! I would definitely recommend Nickel City and so would my kids! read more

I flew from california to visit a friend of mine, she brought me here and I was in love. They have sooo many games that I love to play at my local dave and busters and the prices were insane. We were able to have hours of fun off of $15 worth of play. I think this is a great place to kill time and if you love arcade games this is perfect for you. Awesome place for a kids party. We've never been to Nickel City so I was hesitant to throw my sons birthday there. I didn't want to feel grossed out like I have at Chuck E Cheese. It was fantastic!! The owner Steve has a fun personality and was very attentive. Each kid was given 100 nickels and 100 prize tickets to start out with. That's about 33 games! They each got a round of laser tag (perfect size room for kids) and admission was included. In our private party room Steve provided plates, cups etc for a few large pizzas (I was surprised and the great quality of pizza) and two pitchers of soda. This was all included. I was also surprised at how inexpensive it was. The arcades suited all the kids in our group which were ages 2 to 10 years. It really was a blast and I appreciated Steve & Ken. So much fun and one of the best date nights ever. I would recommend it to anyone. You spend 10 bucks and you are playing games for about and hour and a half for two people. They have so many games from childhood as well as your classic arcade games. They even have guitar hero! Our only complaint was they did not have anything to sanitize any of their machines and me and my wife had to use a lot of sanitizer afterwards. You never know who touched the game last. Having moved to a new location, the well-known Nickelcade now offers laser tag as well as nickel games. The laser tag is a great deal. You don't lose points for being hit and there is no need to recharge the guns, unlike other laser tag places. The games range from a nickel up to eight nickels or so. Which if you think about it, is only forty cents. Still a fantastic deal. Some games are really old, and don't work so well, and the DDR pads are getting worn out, but I don't fault them too much for that. Cheap prizes can be expected, and I, for one, take a pleasure in getting the silly things. I love Nickel City, and it is one of my go-to places in Provorem for fun times. read more

I have to admit, I spend $10 bucks every time I come just so my kiddos can get enough tickets to buy approximately .50 worth of candy (yeah, we aren't very good at playing the games), but I don't really care. I do wish they offered more in the way of food, and some of their games need updating. At the same time, this is my kids' favorite place and it's light years better than Chuck E. Cheese, which to me is the Appleby's of kids places, i.e. the pit of despair, the I-liked-it-as-a-kid-but-now-it-eats-my-soul sort of place that if my kids suggest it, I openly ignore them. Sorry, Weston and Afton. Anywho, I think most people will enjoy a place like this. If you're looking to score tickets, try the pirate spin game, the monster ball drop, and the little spinning circles by the ticket machines.
