I have to say, if you are looking for any kind of customer service after they install a pool. Look somewhere else. I am not one to write bad reviews, I have to say after sales in horrible. Not even a year and the main pump blows out. Pool is all green now, so they promise to come and fix the pump and all I get is run around and now shows. They do not answer phone half the day. Finally after 3 days they show up 90m min late, and they bring some back up pump (they said it new i do not believe it) they connect it and guess what! It also doesnt work. Nobody calls me to tell me, I go look and see it is not on after they left. I had to call and they tell me it was a bad pump brand new from box. Interesting. So sad to say I had to buy a new pump out of pocket. Or wait 10 days for them. WARNING! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We have a very old pool that is in an odd, no-longer used fish shape. Over the winter, the wall caved in and tore through the liner, and we needed the bottom of the pool completely reshaped and then had to replace the liner. The staff at Nicolas Pools did an amazing job, reshaping the pool bottom and installing the brand new liner over three incredibly hot days and did an amazing job. The pool opening was included in the opening, but when they opened the pool and got it up and running their crew noticed water coming up through the ground. The crew dug down and found a leak and the next day came right back out, totally replaced the underground piping where the leak was, and from start to finish our pool was up and running in 5 days from when they first started. I would highly recommend them for any pool project. read more

My pool contract was signed 4/1/2021. With a promised completion date of before Memorial Day 2022. My hole was dug in February. We were told 6-8 weeks to compete project after excavation and I am still waiting on concrete and only have a tentative date of first week in August to finish concrete. My backyard has been a disaster zone since February 2022. I have no idea how this company is still in business. Timelines are complete lies, they don't communicate at all, and just show up when they feel like it work for a quarter to half a day and then take off without a word. If I do not catch them in my yard they never even knock on my door. This company never bothered to get us on the schedule of the concrete company until the last minute and now the concrete company is backed up so we may be getting our concrete in August 2022. They also only use one concrete company and have well over 50 outstanding pool contracts to fulfill. They also sub contract out the electrical and the concrete and it is all built in to the price. Also if anyone is wondering why there excavation, backfill or other dirt removal is delayed around 6/21/22 forward, they broke there dump truck and there trailer for equipment has been parked in front of my house since and has yet to be moved and broke down dump truck is parked on street behind my house since 6/21/22. 10/04/2021: Extremely unprofessional, horrible customer service, second time no call not showing up for a final orientation. I started the initial process with Nicholas Pools in August. The salesman Nathan was always responsive and easy to deal with. The permit process was a nightmare. After all plans were submitted. I called to follow up, and ask how the process was going. I was advised that the permit person sent me an email a month prior and I never answered. I found this highly suspicious as I check my emails, including my spam multiple times a day. It was then discovered that the email address that they sent the paperwork to was wrong. I read my contract, and observed that my correct email address was on it. I get it, humans make mistakes. A month later, I call again to follow up, and they advise that they're waiting to hear back from the town. After attempting to call Toms River Township multiple times, I was finally put in touch with an employee, who advised that they emailed Nicholas Pools a month prior, and never received a response. Toms River sent me this email, which confirmed the date and time it was sent. I made Nicholas Pools aware of this, and was essentially called a liar, and that towns always say they send stuff but never do. Meanwhile I have an email that proves what Toms River told me. Finally, after following up multiple times, our yard was excavated in early May. Since May, they installed the kit, and the plumbing. Other than that my yard has been sitting waiting for the liner to show up. As shown above this set me back two months, due to these mistakes. I try calling and no one ever answers the phones. My emails continue to be unanswered unless I send multiple emails until I receive a response. I get that they're extremely busy, and there may have been some issues due to the pandemic. Communication goes a long way, and this company lacks it. A customer should not have to call and follow up year round to get anything accomplished. If you want your yard to sit with mounds of dirt, and weeds! Definitely use this company! Update: Magically received a phone call 2 hours after my review advising that my liner should arrived at the store next week. read more

Nicholas pools began excavation on my pool June 18 2019. They broke our sidewalk in multiple places using a broken ramp to unload the excavator. They dug the hole for the filter in the wrong place and took two weeks to come back and dig in correct place (according to their employee they are too cheap to buy or fix equipment so they use that big excavator for everything). They placed the pool under an electric line in spite of it being against code and there being plenty of room to move pool over. Now they want us to pay to correct their negligence! 21/2 months and they have destroyed my yard and refuse to call us or come and work out a resolution. The tagline for this business should be "over promise, under deliver". If you are in the market for a pool in 2024, this is your company, that is if you sign up today and pay in full. Last summer we scheduled an install to be complete by May of this year. Finally they excavated the hole, dropped of all the materials, filling the backyard with steel, etc.. and let us know there would be a few month delay. When we called to inquire, about the new date, the woman on the phone actually laughed out loud and said, "let me guess, the salesman told you it would be ready by May". Please do not purchase a pool from Nicholas until they honor their prior commitments. If it was possible to leave a negative star review I would, been using Nicholas Pools for the past 8 years and every single year when the time comes to close my pool I get cancelled and rescheduled, no more, I'm done with this company, the customer service has been horrendous. Never leave reviews but while making my final installment at the store last month for the pool install I saw a happy family husband/wife/young son scurry into Zachs office while I was waiting and thought "my Lord they have no idea what theyre in for". 17 months, 2 police reports, 3 unhappy neighbors, and thousands in damaged property (they did reimburse) later here we are. The previous five star reviews citing Sotiris, the owner, YES he will come to your house talk to you nicely in his London accent, throw money and promises at you "this problem or that problem NEVER happen, I will handle" and YES you will feel warm and fuzzy. But its the same song and dance. Very first call to Zach was on day one of construction when they demolished our $3000 playset with their back-ho, while laughing to each other, his response: "I only SELL the pools, I don't build them." They paid me for that. Next was the water mitigation fee they charge. The merry band of misfits they outsource the pool excavation too are a husband and wife named Julissa and Paco, They will tell you 500-3500 possible fee. From what an undisclosed employee told me after bs'ing with him in my yard, they'll ALWAYS request the max, they hit a CUP of water, immediately stopped, came to my door and asked for 3000 cash. The tipping point was when one of the final people from Nicholas came to perform one of the final touches and almost embarrassingly explained I was not an exception, and that this last year the company has had an irreversible downturn, and he hears complaints day in and out. They have no idea what they are doing and Caroline in customer service is rude. After being rescheduled and told the wrong times, they finally came out to close my pool last week. I had a leaf cover on which would have taken a minute to pull off. The technicians (who I was told were new - and obviously inexperience) put the pool cover on top of the leaf cover full of leaves! When I called Caroline - she promised she would get right back to me. She didn't and after ignoring my calls for days, she told me they wouldn't fix it. Nicholas Pools did a good job overall with my inground swimming pool. Things to look out for though if your signing up with them are the following; 1) TIMELINE - They took about 6 months from digging the hole to pouring my concrete. Make sure to get dates listed in your contract with a liquidated damages clause if you are to move forward with them. 2) POOL BOTTOM - My pool is about 1 month complete and I am noticing "crater-like" holes in the my pool bottom. The vermiculite they used does not seem to be holding up very well. Best way to spot these holes are at night with the pool light on. 3) COMMUNICATION - There is not very good communication with their construction department. They pretty much just show up when they want. If you do not push them to come back, your pool may never get completed. 4) COMPANY SOLD - Nicholas pools is under new ownership now. They are retaining most of their employees throughout most of 2023 but all hell will probably break loose after that. Overall, I feel they do good work. My pool is working great. This is the absolute worst pool company in NJ! They installed our pool 4 years ago. The process was horrible. Read the fine print! They will nickel and dime you the whole way through. And when you tell them enough is enough, zack the salesman says in his high pitched piercing voice, stop being cheap. But this is not the reason for the bad review! They will void your warranty if they don't open/close your pool. So we've continued to use them. This year we've been trying to get them to close our pool since September 1st. We prepaid for it as well. My pool is still open and they do not return calls or they tell you we can't put you on the schedule yet we will call you back and never do. Nicholas Pools is a terrible company in terms of both communication and execution. I signed a contract with them stating that the construction of the pool would be completed approximately 6-8 weeks following excavation. It has been 42 weeks since excavation and the pool still hasn't been finished. In fact, it took the company 21 weeks to begin installing the liner, only for them to install the wrong liner and delay the process even longer. They even waited an entire month before informing me that the wrong liner was sitting in the pool (unbelievable). They wasted my personal time asking me to stay home for service that was meant for another customer, resulting in me wasting a day off from work. I have had to turn away multiple service crews that weren't meant for me, because again, there were miscommunications about which customer the services were meant for. Overall, the communication from the company has been pathetic. I have had to wait weeks for responses to email, sometimes receiving no response at all. When you do finally get in touch with an employee, they say someone will call you back and it rarely happens. The closest they came to making things right was when the owner discussed providing me with a refund. But that was five months ago, and he hasn't followed up with me since then, despite numerous attempts to reach him. I cannot recommend this company to anyone. read more

Stay far far far far away there are so many other pool companies that would be happy to have your business and be professional about it. They should be ashamed of how they handle their customers who spend tons of money on a pool. Very poor customer service and communication. I was promised a pool in the winter of 2021 and never got it. After a year, I received a partial refund of my 3k deposit. Finally, after threatening to file a complaint with the BBB and taking court action, I received an email from the owner requesting that I come in for the reminder of my refund. She began screaming and yelling at me in the showroom, stamping her feet asking that I leave. Full disclosure, in her email she did say that her father was recently diagnosed with cancer. The first thing I said when she came out was, "I'm very sorry to hear about you fathers' diagnosis and that I wish him well". Then, she flipped out. They dug to the wrong depth causing them to then have to rip everything up and start over again. The liner is not placed correctly and bubbles. Good luck trying to get someone to return a phone call. And the salesperson is even worse. Once he got the sale, he was MIA and clearly does not care about customer satisfaction. I contracted with Nicholas Pools in December 2020 and was then told my pool would be complete for the summer of 2021. Difficult to believe that was an honest commitment, as I have seen multiple comments from people that contracted earlier and never saw a completed pool in the summer. As we slowly progressed through the process I had to reach out every step of the way to understand where we stood and what and when the next step will happen. Right from the beginning, I had to chase after the permit department to get my pool drawing to even begin the permitting process. I was told at contracting that I would see the drawing the next week, it took a month. Of course, by March I heard that the project would be much elongated due to frame availability. Excavation did not begin until July. At that time I was told I should be complete early fall. I did have them change the location of the equipment at that time, but was told that it was no issue, as they did no digging yet. Every time something needed to be done I always had to reach out to get dates and timing, I do not believe I received 1 proactive phone call to le t me know what was going on. Makes it a bit challenging as there are steps the home owner needs to be home for, and others that I desired to home for. We slowly continued the construction process, from excavation, through framing, electric, etc. I would continuously try to communicate, as I do not feel anything moved otherwise. I also had my own items to manage, such as a retaining wall and wanted to be sure the timing kept it all moving. We finally hit the time for concrete (November) and did the layout with their subcontractor. As they were there framing it out, we realized that the elevation they placed the equipment at did not match the survey. We would have been just within the window to pour, but everything came to a halt due to the elevation issues. I contacted Nicholas Pools immediately to help resolve. They had internal discussion, and was going to send someone out to look at it. It took over 2 weeks and multiple no shows. Again, I had to check status and I called to ask where he was, unfortunately he was out sick. i would have expected a phone call to alert me of the need to reschedule.... but nothing. He finally showed and he was to discuss internally. Since then, I have left many messages and emails, minimal responses and still no plan to remedy. I have been copying the owner and sales the whole time and not a single reach out to me for my perspective or feedback. Its now almost the end of February and I am still waiting responses from messages on what they will do to complete my pool. If you have a choice of Pool Companies, choose carefully. Completely unprofessional! This company lacks customer service, integrity, and basic project management skills. They rarely respond to an email and voicemail and when they do, they are in complete defense mode. My pool was supposed be completed in May of 2021 as we signed our contract in July of 2020. As of mid November 2021, the pool is finally complete. We did without use of our backyard all Spring, Summer and Fall; the shame is that the jobsite was left in complete disarray, so we had to hire a company to clean up the mess. As we understand there are supply/demand issues, they should have planned better and communicated to their customers early on in the beginning of the pandemic. I have read that they have been in business for over 40 years so they should already know how to properly communicate with their customers, which they do not. Please, Please Please, whatever you do, DO NOT use Nicholas Pools!!! We are having the exact same experience as other reviews on here. Last July (2021) we decided to remove our above ground pool and go with an unground pool. Nicholas Pools came highly recommended to us from former customers. We went up, picked out a pool we liked and gave a $3000 deposit. Nathan (our salesman) was very helpful and friendly. Gave us the timeline that by ordering our pool today we are locked in on pricing and the pool should arrive in December. Depending on the weather conditions there was a chance they could break ground in Jan or Feb. but even if it's March we will have everything done before summer and be in our pool. The survey company they recommended we use (because he knows the pools) was awful to get a hold of, but I stayed on him and got it done (you pay him separate). February came and went and I started reaching out in March. Like others have said, it is impossible to talk to someone on the phone and they do not call back or email you back. Finally received a email from Julissa in the construction department on April 15th (a Friday at 10:30 am) saying our excavation date is set for Monday April 18th. Attached was my balance sheet showing we owed 50% of the money when they show up Monday morning and it needs to be cash or bank check. Luckily my bank was very helpful. As you can imagine it's not easy to get a bank check for over $25k on extremely short notice. When they showed up a started digging they immediately hit ground water about 3 feet down (I ordered an 8 ft pool with diving board). After stopping and discussing what can be done, Julissa asked me "have you recently won the lottery?" and then laughed. Yeah, that's what you want to hear in this situation... I was told if I fork over another $15k in cash they can get the job done. Like a dope I believed them and paid. The dig took about a week, and I will say the construction crew was very pleasant to deal with. We ended up with a 7 ft deep hole instead of 8 ft (kids are bummed no diving board) and yet still paid full price on everything... I was told not to order the liner yet and that "the office" would reach out to me because we no longer are getting the pool we ordered. A couple days later when no one had reached out I started calling and emailing again. On April 27th I finally heard back from Julissa who told me the pool is coming in tomorrow and will be inspected for damage. The liner takes 7-14 days. They added a 3rd install crew to keep up and they would be out next week to do the walls and backfill. Once the liner comes in they will come install and we can begin to fill with water so we can finally turn off these 3 pumps that are running 24/7. Here we are on May 24th (almost 1 month since I have last spoken with them) and nothing has happened. I have left numerous voicemails on multiple extensions asking for anyone at all to please call me back. Multiple emails, in which I have CC'd the owner, and no response. This has been a total nightmare. We have already sunk over $37K into for a hole in my back yard that is costing me a fortune in electric to keep from filling up with water and collapsing in. It is such a shame what has happened to a company that once prided themselves on integrity. I understand Covid has made things extremely difficult and pricey but you would think a business that has operated for over 50 years in our area would know how to communicate with their clients. Now they just promise, take your money and leave you asking yourself "do I really need to get an attorney involved?" I had an issue with the cleanliness of my pool. I emailed customer service and they called me the next day. I did not expect such a rapid response. The sent the pool supervisor out the next day to validate what I had spoken to them about over the phone. I have never received this level of professionalism from any other provider with whom I have done business. Their quick response and corrective actions were just the result of a single email. The supervisor spent 3 hours on my pool correcting the issue and then had their customer service person follow up with me that evening. STAY FAR AWAY!!! I used Nicholas pools for a summer season to open,close and service my pool (liner tuck) firstly its easier to win the lottery then get someone on the phone and when you finally so they are extremely rude and condescending. When the service people came to open my pool they did a really poor job. They didnt put the cover sway or install the railings etc. That should have been an indication of what was to come. When I originally asked them to do the liner tuck I explained that there was a small and large part to do. I was quoted a price and paid for it to be done. When s technician came after weeks of calling to schedule, they did the smaller part and would refuse to do the larger part. They claimed that it was ripped. The technician admitted to is that he might have done it and was scared to finish the job. When I mentioned this to the customer service rep she started screaming at me the likes of a mad woman! I didnt tell the company that they should pay for my liner because their technician may have ripped it all I asked was for my money back for what I paid for the liner tick that wasn't done. Well I received a call today, one year after signing a contract with Nicholas pools, that they are ready to Excavate in two weeks. We signed the contract in July 2019. I was pushing for September for the pool, and they said "let's just be safe and you will be the first excavation at the end of February, as long as the ground is not frozen." That never happened! We signed the contract in July 2029, and Zack assured us that it would be to our benefit to have them be in charge of getting the permits. I have no experience with the actual work that they do, but I am writing my first review ever on Yelp, since becoming a member in 2010. I'm Pleading with anyone who signs with this company, that if you have signed, do your own permits. One year to obtain permits is absolutely unacceptable. They said they are going to start digging on July 27, 2020, I will definitely keep you posted on what happens next. Deciding to go with Nicholas Pools to fulfill our 20 year dream of having an inground pool has been beyond frustrating. There is almost no communication and the lack of responsiveness to inquires is very unprofessional. We signed the contract in July 2020 and we still have not had the excavation done. We thought we were making progress this fall but here we go again. On Sept 30 we were told excavation would take place the week of Oct 31st but after not hearing anything from Nicholas Pools, we reached out to them on November 3rd and were told (on Nov 8th) that it was delayed ANOTHER 6 WEEKS. Nothing communicated to us during the 5 weeks from Sept 30 to November 8th. I would assume if there was a massive delay or backlog that would extend the excavation date ANOTHER 6 weeks, someone would let us know: ( Not the end of the world obviously but hoping the rest of this pool install process goes a bit more smoothly...the kids aren't the only ones nervous about it not being done before Memorial Day 2022. read more

Don't do business with them. First of all when you use them for the opening and closing of your pool, they never come when scheduled. Secondly, don't ever pay them in cash. The owner is not a man of his word. I purchase a pool heater from them in cash and I misplaced my invoice. They turned around and sold my heater and are telling me there is no trace of the sale. read more

Bought a spa three years ago. Have had nothing but problems. Have had almost every part of the spa replaced. Although covered by warranty getting the parts replaced takes forever. Scheduling of repairs is rarely on time. The repair service department is SO SLOWWW and there is always an excuse. When it comes to collecting payment though...they are always ready. I've been waiting for a replacement cover for three months. It's been paid for and they keep getting the wrong size, the wrong part etc etc. we were sold a lemon of a product and now we are told it's out of warranty and the heater is broken. Terrible service. Maybe they do a better job on pools but spas...no good. I should have gone elsewhere for my spa. read more

I recently had to pleasure to work with Caroline at Nicholas Pools to purchase and arrange installation of a new Hayward Heater for the pool they installed 16 years ago. Due to COVID 19, I left a message at the business phone number stating my purpose. Within a few hours that Tuesday , Caroline called me explaining the COVID office set up, gave me her cell number, and asked when I was looking to have the Pool Heater installed. From my original inquiry, Caroline had already looked at the stock to ensure there was a Heater available. I told her the next Monday would be great (6 days), but I also needed the plumbing and gas updated and an electrical line installed. She immediately contacted a gas man and an electrician and gave them my contact info. The next day the gas man made an appointment and by Friday the electrician did the same. Monday morning the Pool Heater was installed, Monday evening the gas was updated to fit the new Heater and Tuesday the electrician ran the new line and started my new Pool Heater! Caroline sent 2 men from Nicholas Pools on Wednesday to be sure the Heater was working properly and answer any questions my husband and I had. During this whole , but short process, Caroline was very reassuring and extremely helpful! She texted or spoke to me each day to be certain that everything would be ready so my family could finally enjoy heated, warm pool water!
