Today was my first time visiting the spa. I had received a gift card from my sister. I decided on an oxygen lift with microdermabrasion. I could not be happier with the service. It was very relaxing and my skin looks alive again. The woman who performed the service, Lisa, was lovely. She was friendly, personable, knowledgeable and professional. In my experience, the Mediterranean spa is the best spa in Toms River. The service was exceptional; the staff was courteous, professional, and kind. I loved the gel manicure. I also got a massage and facial. During my facial, the esthetician's massages were the highlight for me, as I find massages during facials to be the best part. The deep tissue massage that Will gave me was truly amazing. The front desk attendant is also very sweet, and the entire place was immaculately clean. I was excited to recieve treatments facial laser hair removal. I purhased 6 session. After several treatments I notice no difference. Luz becomes very defensive when I mention it and now it's due to hormones. After the 6th visit I told her there is something wrong with her laser. She quickly became defensive. She now tells me it will not get rid of all the hair. She now says it's laser hair reduction! She gave me a 7th treatment and says it will not get rid off all the hair. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY, I SHOULD DEMAND MY MONEY BACK. read more

Went for a way overdue massage and facial and loved both procedures. Highly recommend Wil for a massage. It was much needed for me and he didn't disappoint. I always schedule my facial as an open one so they can look at my skin and let me know what they think. As a buyer, I tend to be able to see through an up sell, but she was very honest with her recommendation which was appreciated. She also answered some questions I had about my teenager. I've noticed since Covid the service at a lot of different businesses aren't the same and in true form, the person originally scheduled to do my facial never showed up. The person at the front was so helpful and rectified the situation with only an hour delay. I'm sorry I forgot her name. I also had a gift card which, in my experience, tends to put that customer at the bottom of the service pile. It wasn't the case here which I think is what made me appreciate it more. The last place I went to treated my gift card like a coupon and not something that was paid for. The place was clean and I'd return again. read more

I was in a lot of pain after flying in to Jersey and needed a great massage. Despite being almost fully booked, Mediterranean Spa was able to squeeze me in for both a massage -and- a facial. The building itself is lovely and relaxing. Once inside, everyone was very nice. The front reception had a soothing vibe with candles everywhere. I was brought back to the locker area and given a warm robe and slippers, then led to a little area to sit and relax while waiting for my services. I was in a lot of pain. I have neuropathy from a car accident that acts up when I fly. Andy gave a great massage. He was very educated and showed me a few stretches to help avoid future issues. Then, Joanne gave me a facial so relaxing that I fell asleep! The beds are heated and the entire place is clean and classy. Definitely check it out. I will be back again when in town. read more

Like give me a photo facial in the middle of the summer and I have brown spots all over my face, also getting a facial and leaving the steam running the whole time on my face which is not good for your skin and having me come in over and over again saying I need it and just charge me more and more money and I didn't need it. The staff in this spa are amazing! I came here as part of my bachelorette weekend with 5 of my friends. Before coming, I had called to ask questions about booking and the fact that I would be coming with my bridal party. The girl I spoke with was so friendly and took her time explaining all the different services and making recommendations on what to get. She also told me they had a little lounge where we could hang out while the others got services done because only 4 girls could go at a time. She said we could bring champagne and snacks to have while in the lounge. I loved this idea so we each picked a service and were able to book the same afternoon. When we arrived at the spa, we were greeted immediately. It was spotless and smelled amazing. They checked us in and must have made a note that it was my bachelorette because they asked who was the bride and said congratulations and asked me some questions about the wedding (such a cute little personable touch). They took our bags of food/drinks and gave us a tour of the place and had us change into robes and sandals. When we went back into the lounge, the woman (I believe her name was Rebecca and I'm so sorry if I'm wrong) had set up the lounge beautifully! She put our snacks into bowls, put out out the fruit and cheese platters with crackers, and started making our mimosas. She was amazing! There was no wait time before the women came in to take us for our treatments. I had the European facial. It was A M A Z I N G!!! It was so relaxing I fell asleep!! My skin is normally so dry but it felt soft for days after with no break outs or reactions from any of the products. She noticed my rosacea and immediately adjusted her routine to better fit me. After I was done, I went back into the lounge and I was waiting with some of the girls for two others to finish. The woman who help set up came back in and asked what we were doing after. We said we planned to go to dinner but didn't know where. She started giving us suggestions and offered to make reservations at one of the restaurants that she said was really delicious. We declined because we wanted to wait for the other two girls. She left the room but came back 5 mins later and said "I'm so sorry but I couldn't help myself! I had to call to see if you could get in because I knew you were such a big party! They only have one reservation left for the entire night! It's for 8:30! Do you want to take it? If so I will call back right now and give them your name!" Thank goodness she had called or else we Would have probably missed the reservation! We told her yes and she called back right away and gave them my name. She really went above and beyond for us and we are so grateful! Thank you so much! read more

I am super picky about everything and I have not one single negative thing to say about my experience here tonight - I LOVED IT. The service is great; the place was clean, and my massage with Andrea was the best I've ever had. It was very easy to make an appointment as well, they had availability for the next day when I called. Started out with a consultation by Wendy who sold me on a laser hair removal package for my entire face. Promised hair free with no more than 3 sessions. At the end of 3 I was in the same state so I called to schedule a fourth. When I arrived I was told Wendy had left and my sessions would be conducted by Luz. She wasn't as friendly but seemed competent and informative. During this session she sold me on a photo facial package that would take care of redness, spider veins and brown spots on my face, hands and chest...very expensive. My husband was very generous at Christmas and my birthday and had purchased another $1100+ gift certificates. Appointments were an issue, I arrived for 4 appointments just to be told I wasn't in the book even though I had appointment cards. Was told to reschedule.. After 6 sessions of laser hair removal with absolutely no result, three appointments for photo facial with no results, 4 appointments not being booked and many calls to the spa that went unreturned I had it. I called asking for my money to be returned because I didn't receive any results and spent hours in pain and recovery down time with nothing to show. The supposed manager that answers the phone was sympathetic but I received no promise of a return of monies for the treatments or the unused gift cards. I was transferred to Luz who also told me they would not refund my money even though I had no results. I requested that someone talk with Dr. Rosen to see if he would agree to a refund but I'm still waiting for a call back. I guess this business doesn't prioritize it's clients who are left with only one recourse, reporting them to the BBB and warning others on social media sites. I had such high hopes when I began with this company and left totally disgusted realizing that people can still be treated and scammed in this matter. Please do your homework! I have patronized MANY spas around the globe and I can honestly say the Medi-terranean Spa is overwhelmingly the best. Although I live in Philadelphia, it is well worth the hour and a half drive to Toms River. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and immaculate. The receptionists are friendly - yet professional, and very knowledgeable about the services offered. Their selection of services is varied and comprehensive, truly something for everyone. I see Joanne, whose own skin is AMAZING, for facials at least four times a year and she is by far the very BEST aesthetician I've been to. She takes her time, evaluates your skin and makes the best suggestion based on individual skin type and season of the year. She then goes to work on you...and let me tell you she is PHENOMENAL! My skin never feels or looks better! I usually go in for the micro-derm facial or the glycolic/retinol facial - they really work. Wendy's laser treatments have made the age spots on my hands, and a few on my forehead absolutely disappear! Rose, one of the masseuses, is thorough and always puts me at ease. I feel totally de-stressed when I'm able to pick up my relaxed self from the warmed massage table and rehydrate and replenish in their waiting area where water, tea, cookies, etc. are available. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to give credit to this absolute treasure because, as mentioned, after having been to MANY spas, this one gets my vote for the VERY BEST! In addition, the spa is downstairs from Dr. Michael Rosen, a Board Certified Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgeon, who I see on a regular basis for botox. He is masterful! It is no exaggeration to say that he takes ten years off my face whenever he works his magic on me. This is one stop shopping. Do yourself a favor and see the ladies in the spa, then take yourself upstairs to see Dr. Rosen. This is the best gift you could give yourself! read more

I had an appointment to get laser hair removal. I made the appointment a week and a half in advance. No one on the phone told me what to do before I came I had to call and ask what's the procedure before I come. I get to my appointment and the lady says that she can not treat me because of my skin color. I am black by the way. She says,unfortunately because of what's going on today that they can not ask what skin color you are before your appointment and that I should have specified what skin color I was before I made the appointment. I'm very annoyed and hurt. I would not recommend this place because obviously black people are not welcome here. read more

I called in July and made an appointment for Tuesday 9/29 at 1030 am. On 9/28 I received a message telling me my appointment was confirmed for 1230. I called back and the girl said "oh sometimes we change appointments and don't always let people know let me check the notes". Sure enough they moved my appointment without checking. I explained I pick up my children from school at 115 and that time wouldn't work. They rescheduled me for 10/6 at 1145, as I'm driving there they call and say the doctor is running late and is in a procedure so he won't be able to see anyone till at least 1230 !! This is absurd that they aren't scheduling appropriate amounts of time for procedures. I explained again that I can not be seen at that time and that the only reason I even kept this appointment was because I had multiple gift cards. This office is wildly unprofessional and clearly doesn't care about anyone's schedules or maintaining professionalism. As a nurse I'm shocked at how this office is run. read more

NEVER disappoints. This spa has consistently met my expectations (and mine are high). The front desk will do whatever they can to fit you in. The atmosphere is very calming and clean. As soon as I entered the spa, I felt peaceful and relaxed. The girl at the front desk was so sweet and welcoming. She showed me around the whole spa, since I had never been there before. I waited in a quiet, dim room with a hot cup of tea until the girl doing my service came and got me, a few short minutes later. My pedicure was amazing - probably one of the best I've ever had. After being a return customer of the MediTerranean spa for over six years, a recent experience changed my mind about this establishment. I made my appointment a week in advance, and then confirmed it again on the previous day, AND then arrived on time, so I was quite upset to find that my slot in the Vishy Shower room had been given away for a couples treatment shortly before I arrived! I find there is no acceptable explanation for giving away a confirmed appointment when someone arrives on time unless you have incompetent staff that cannot understand or operate the computer scheduling software, (or because it was decided that the couples treatment was more profitable?) As I stood there stunned--there was no way my sister and I would be able to schedule our treatments elsewhere at the last minute (we were celebrating our birthdays)--the only option I was given was a 15% discount on a facial, or to come back later that afternoon. Of course, both of these options were unacceptable, as I wanted a body treatment, not a facial; there was no regard given to my sister's appointment, which needed to occur simultaneously; and my day had already been booked. In addition, offering me just a 15% discount was almost an insult after such poor service. I sent the manager a letter noting my displeasure and I have received no response. I guess customer service is not high on their priority list. I will not be returning, as there is no way to be sure they will hold any appointment made. read more

A recent experience at the Mediterranean Spa was so completely appalling that it prompted me to write this review, and after reading Theresa D.'s review makes me think that this was not a fluke, but rather a way of business for this establishment. I had made an appointment a month in advance for myself and my mother to receive a facial treatment; our appointments were confirmed twice prior, with one of those confirmations being three hours before our scheduled appointments. Two hours later, and an hour before our appointments, to my dismay I received another call from the spa, this time cancelling one of our appointments due to a staff member feeling ill. I am a very understanding person, but it was the proceeding discussion and response that prompted this review. I was offered a pitiful apology, a 15% discount on our next service, and when I asked what our options were in order to still come in that day (we still should have had another appt. scheduled), I received an explanation stating "what are we suppose to do". I do not run a business and therefore told the staff member I could not advise her on that, but do know that a well run establishment would have enough staff on hand or a system in place for such occurrences. As the conversation proceeded, I told the staff member that we still wanted to continue with the other scheduled appointment and if we could be accommodated with another service, massage, pedicure, anything, that would be fine. I was told that the other appointment had been cancelled as well and there were no other services that could be performed that day. I was in complete shock; they had cancelled both of our appointments, an hour prior, with absolutely no reasonable explanation on the second one nor any offer for resolve. The women proceeded to offer a 15% discount on our next service and I told her we would never be back and therefore the 15% was irrelevant. The quality of staff, incompetence, and lack of customer service and professionalism at the Mediterranean Spa was completely unacceptable and therefore would never consider them for a spa service again. read more

I had a terrible experience here about 2 years ago. This was my second time at the Mediterranean. The first time was great. The spa is clean and relaxing. Once inside you'd never guess that you're on a main road. My second time here, my boyfriend treated me to a couples massage for my birthday. The two masseuses were whispering to each other the whole time. About halfway through my massage, my masseuse bends down and whispers to me that she is really not feeling well, she thinks she may be sick, she apologized and said she needed to leave. My boyfriend's masseuse asks him if he would like to continue his massage. Obviously he declined. As we were checking out the receptionist who had already been notified also apologized for the inconvenience. My boyfriend was still charged the full price for his massage that was interrupted and they only discounted mine by half. They didn't offer a gift card for a future visit or anything. The bottom line is, things happen. The girl couldn't help that she was sick, however the fact that we had to pay anything that day (let alone over $100) is absurd and the Mediterranean has lost my business. read more

Unprofessional! Bought a laser hair removal package, in the middle of my sessions their machine was sent out for "servicing". I wasn't able to make appointments until the machine was fixed. My package came with 7 sessions, I was given an 8th session for free due to NO results and I purchased a 9th touch up session. 9 sessions and NO results! Called the manager, Kathleen O'hara, she wouldn't take my calls. I managed to get her email address. Explained in detail what I purchased and how I still had hair after 9 sessions. She wrote back that she will come up with a solution and get back to me in a few days. After over 4 weeks, haven't hearing back from her, I called the spa. Rachel, the assistant manager promised Kathleen would call me within 30 mins. The next day I called back (still not hearing from Kathleen) and Rachel rushed me off the phone, was huffing and puffing and kept putting me on hold as I was explaining myself. She said we cannot give you a refund. I told her I wasn't looking for a refund I was looking for the results I paid for. Then I asked her who I could speak to that was above management. She said Dr. Rosen will not speak to any clients nor take phone calls. Horrible service. No results. Don't waste your money!!! I don't know how these women are managers! read more

I have to say that I am very disappointed that such a beautiful spa and wonderful physician would employee a unprofessional office manager. I called to make a facial appt and they did not have my info on file, the receptionist Rachel was a pleasure. She transferred me to the office manager Kathleen was apparently having a bad day. She told me she was understaffed and she would call me tomorrow. I told her that I was surprised because I bought the best package and pre paid in June. She told me what is it that you don't understand, when I have a chance to go downstairs I'll get it. She was so argumentative and was going on and on. Wouldn't allow me to speak. I told her I was going to leave bad feed back online and she said honey have fun. I than told her I wanted to speak with the doctor as I refer many pts to him and she miraculously found that I was due two photo facials and a micro derm facial. Wow.
