Spur of the moment craving for oxtails. Decided to give this place a try. As a Jamaican who grew up…read moreon authentic Jamaican food and kept in mind this is restaurant style I was sadly disappointed. The oxtails had nice dark color (as it should) but didn't have much flavor. Very bland. Rice n peas tasted freshly made and ok in flavor. Their homemade Sorrel looked rich in color and flavorful. I decided to try that as well. It was bitter and zero taste of ginger in it. Sigh!!! I'm always looking for places to get good Jamaican cake and desserts. The gizzada on the counter looked good. It was ok. I miss the ginger flavor that it's known to have. I also asked about the Rum Cake. I was sold when the lady behind the counter told she made it and had to cut back on the rum because the last batch people complained it was going to drunk them. We had a good laugh about that and agreed that is how rum cake should taste. Welllllllllllll, it tasted like she certainly cut all the back on the rum cause I didn't taste any. Not even rum flavoring which people use for restaurant style rum cakes. It was also very heavy in texture. Not what I'm use too. Overall, I really wanted to like this restaurant especially since the customer service was friendly. Something unfortunately not common in most Jamaican restaurants. The lack of food flavor (in most of the items I tried) which is a must for Jamaican food was a BIG disappointment and waste of money for me.

Then other customers came in and they never acknowledged them. WTHelly?! I usually do go in on places very offer but this is just inexcusable. Not only am I a customer but I'm a black customer who happens to be a lover of Jamaican food. I don't know what it would take to get a taste of this "good food". Is there a password or a handshake?

Met Mrs Debbie very vibrant, up tempo spirited lady and passionate about her roots and food. I Ordered the oxtails only as I've done hundreds of times as my signature to see is the food is for sell or not. Most Restaurants want to give you a plate full of veggies and three oxtails. I give it back LOL. I receive a healthy portion of oxtails for the small size at $16. 99 They were tasty as expected for that style of cooking that generates that brown base gravy. I didn't get the wow factor I look for in oxtails . The texture was abit chewy but they were digestible . If you just have a taste for oxtails these should do you fine I then ask to sample the "Mac and Cheese" and there was the WOW factor . (YUP) that Mac and Cheese was flavorful, good texture with that great cheesiness and well done noodles you look for in Mac and Cheese. I was asked to try the jerk turkey wings and that I will have on my next visit with The Mac and Cheese The customer services alone will get my return visit. Thank you Mrs Debbie

Because why should I pay for bad service? I still proceeded, with the transaction. Took a bite and it was horrible. The crust was not flaky, didn't have that authentic coloring, the crust was too hard all over. The filling was not even substantial. And the size of the patty was rather small.
