    Oxtail plate
    Darlene O.

Was in the area and had mapped out restaurants nearby where I was visiting. Just from the name alone I knew it had to be good and after checking the reviews I said it seems to be worth the try. So glad I tried! They were out of the meat patties but that's OK because I plan to try this restaurant again in the near future. I couldn't decide between the oxtails and spicy goat and I think I ordered the small for both and if that's the case their small is HUGE. BOTH plates were amazing! Spicy goat had the perfect amount of heat. The plantains only two pieces were ripe. I wonder if they offer this as a side. Comes with rice and peas and a salad. The only other place I go for BOMB oxtails is Creole Orleans Catering in Greenbriar Mall food court. Also ordered a mango juice/smoothie drink which was really good. The lady (I believe she was the owner) said they order their juices from the market or somewhere nearby. It's served frozen which is perfect because I let it sit out and by the time I wanted to drink it it was like a slush. Loved it and so refreshing!

Delicious Jerk Chicken! Rice/Beans and Plantains

Ep. 8 of AntlantaEats Being that I was born & raised in South FL, my taste for Caribbean food is a little superficial. I've been disappointed at a few spots prior to discovering this location. A friend recommended me this months & months before. I had just finished walking up/down Stone Mountain. Upon completion, I had just remembered that recommendation and was nearby. I ordered their Jerk Chicken (I got the large size) along with brown rice/beans and plantains. Man I can tell the marinate their chicken for weeks! (Ok I'm exaggerating but you can really tell). It has by far been the best Jerk Chicken I've had in Atlanta (I know I know, I still have more restaurants to check). Inside the restaurant you'll see a few pics of comedian Martin Lawrence with the owner I believe. He may have had his taste of experience as well. I got 2 beef patties and a large oxtail. I had to wait 45 mins for the patties because they were being cooked. Everything was good. I did expect more oxtails for the large oxtail price($24). They could have kept the salad and added 2 more oxtails.

IF YOU WANT AUTHENTIC Jamaican Food in Stone Mountain Georgia GO HERE The food is delicious, the atmosphere is unpretentious and the location is easy to find. I had the fried snapper my first day there and I went back for jerk chicken another day. The callaloo is so tasty, you'll order a double side. Rice N Peas were nice and firm. I suggest you check out Nice Mon and say Yes Mon !

I was im shock. I was greeted immediately upon entry and the clerk was friendly and helpful. My food came out fast and boy, was it delicious! The rice and peas were flavorful, the cabbage was just right, and the oxtails and butter beans were seasoned to perfection and the gravy was amazing. I usually hate gravy but it was amazing. It's rare that you find good service and tasty jamaican food in conjunction.

Curry Goat, rice & peas & plantains!

I'm still a regular after all these years! The food NEVER disappoints. My absolute favorite dish is the curry goat (see picture up top). The meat is always so tender & flavorful! I love that this is spicy like it should be & not toned down for "Americans" My daughter can't get enough of their oxtail. It falls right off the bone & the gravy goes so well with the rice. As a treat, we usually get the potato pudding for dessert. This has become a staple lunch on Saturdays!

Came here for lunch while remodeling our new house and it definitely hit the spot. Hubz and I shared the large oxtail dish, and it was the perfect portion for us. Both left full and happy. Definitely recommend if you want some deliciously authentic Jamaican food

This is a nice little hidden gem. The establishment is clean and pretty small. Just enough space for a small lunch crowd. The food is amazing with great service. When the I say the FLAVOR is off the chain I am not exaggerating. I was just in Jamaica and must say the food is just as good if not better than what I had in the mainland. I will definitely be back for more!

Would gave five stars if the wait wasn't so damn long! And service is soooo slow...Food was hot, fresh, chicken tender and spicy!! They must work on their slowness

    So darned good.

Lunch with the Bestie on Monday's is usually Applebee's because it's close to her office but I'm so tired of Applebee's. I wanted something different and I wanted my favorite Cuisine. Jamaican food! The reviews on yet we're really good for nicemon most of the reviews leadoff or contains the words authentic Jamaican food which held a lot of problems for me so I tracked too nice mine along with the bestie for lunch. The address on Yelp is incorrect as it took us to "Nowhere". When the GPS said "you have arrived" and we were on the side of the road with no buildings, nothing but a privacy fence surrounding an apartment complex I was totally confused. So I called the establishment and was told to come to 663 Main Street, Stone Mountain and that she had tried several times to get the address corrected on Yelp but it just had not happened. Anywho, it was only 3 more minutes away so we drove over to the restaurant and went inside. Should we sit? Should we stand? I don't know what we should do. We're just standing there with the young lady behind the counter looking at us. I finally ask "do we seat ourselves?" and she says yes. So it's a very casual restaurant the food was very good. what I really like is that the patties,(beef, chicken &veggie at $1.95 each) are made from scratch. Not the frozen reheated patties. I really enjoyed that. I was not disappointed with my meal either. I had a large oxtail meal for under $14. My plate had rice and peas, a big portion of oxtails that was cooked perfectly along with some plantain. The oxtails had some heat to it, like the scotch bonnet burst (I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy foods). Oh yeah, a side salad was given as well. All in all the atmosphere is very casual. You can tell that the visitors that stopped in have been there time and time again. There was a table next to us full of gentleman that most likely met weekly at this restaurant. Seems to be a standing appointment. The staff is very nice and although I had to ask for things like water and napkins more than once, I still won't hold it against them because it's just the nature of the family style Jamaican restaurant. The focus is on providing great quality food.

$5 plus dollars for chicken soup water? The soup should have chicken in it. You can leave out the fat from the cow foot too.

He certainly treated us well, and was the consummate professional and veteran! This made the ambiance even more appealing while setting the stage for some really memorable eats and a first date filled with mutual gratitude. The food here is next level Jamaican inspired and phenomenal. We had the oxtail sliders, plantain boat with jerk chicken, and the shrimp tacos. Everything tasted amazing and was expertly presented/plated. While this place seems to draw a 24-35 year old demographic based on social media content, older folks will also love this place. Looking forward to more from this team in the years to come. Also, the bathroom and public areas are squeaky clean! Well done!

Service - didn't get a greeting when we walked in, the lady was sitting in a chair at the register, there was one guy In there sitting down waiting on this food so she was not busy. They had a few fish dishes on their menu but had NO fish at all that day (weekday). I mean they were out of everything seafood and they were out of sorrel. This should have been a sign to leave but I settled with a small oxtail meal. They do open the box for you to see your food before leaving, no corrections or complaints after you leave. Well, I wish I would have took a closer look at the "plantains" bc it was absolute mush! It looked so terrible, I thought it was fat from the oxtail... they literally served spoiled plantain on both of our plates, I tasted it & it was definitely rotten. I love plantains when I eat Jamaican food & the fact that it was rotten was very disrespectful. The oxtail was small, not a lot of meat but the flavor was decent although I would have preferred more gravy. Rice & peas and the cabbage were average. As far as the inside, not much sunshine in there, just get it Togo. Oh! And the health score was 81 which should have been another sign to leave. There are better Jamaican restaurants to visit.
