Grits and eggs were so delicious I never got a picture before I ate it all :) I love how every single table has a unique salt and pepper shaker set, ours had a cute pair of cats. I was thinking about my meal for the rest of the day because it was just so good, everything was homemade to order; you have a clear view of the kitchen as you eat. My only suggestion is hiring just one more person, since the wait time is quite long. Currently, one person takes all the orders (including phone), hands out checks, runs the food and drinks while one other person cooks everything. I would definitely come again, can't wait to try more on the menu! read more

This is a cozy spot in west Oakland. Parking across the street if you're lucky. The service is friendly and very welcoming. I had breakfast with my gf and it was very cozy. I had Corned Beef Hash and eggs and my gf got pancakes , eggs and bacon. We will definitely come back. Food was great and too was the decor and ownership. Can't wait. read more

I woke up craving a waffle, eggs, bacon and hash browns and Nib's had just what I wanted. I ordered the waffle plate and added hash browns. I also ordered a latte and I was pleasantly surprised that they sprinkled cinnamon on top. I typically have to ask for cinnamon to be added. Food was good and service was stellar. Showed up for breakfast on Saturday, I previously had reviewed the place but I thought it perhaps needed an update. Once again prices are decent, staff is cool, but Saturday is to go only. I once again saw people turn around and leave on the bases of to go only. Some people may see a missed opportunity, I saw a different way of seeing things. I don't think this is an inconvenience. Fantastic food. Superb service. The word is out--reputation has caught up with them and its often very busy for a not so large place. They have moved around over the years in the East Bay but everything has always been delicious and large. Good Americana food and some fusion stuff. Highly recommended . I love this place. There are not that many dinner style restaurants around here left and this is the place. I order an omelet plate and portions are huge! Food was great. The sausages were extra tasty. The woman serving the restaurant is the only server and she's super sweet; exactly the kind of service that you'd want from a diner. The environment is cute as hell. 5/5 high recommend. Total hidden gem in west Oakland at the old Emma's fried fish spot if you old enough to remember. Looks like a moms & pop spot with really good breakfast! Menu had a lot of choices and options for sides. Big thick bacon.. yummy sausage links. Definitely good quality. Definitely will be back again to try out other menu selections. Maybe I will try out their lunch menu. Very good customer service. And food came out quick. read more

Super solid diner that makes me feel a type of way. I'm tempted to follow the typical recipe website playbook by telling you a long story about my childhood diner and then hiding the actual recipe/review beneath a huge wall of text and ads (while making the "skip to recipe" button super tiny).. But I won't. Just know that you're going to get a solid diner experience here. Food itself is great (I usually get their version of a Denver omelet) and comes out quickly. Usually a pretty quiet crowd so it's easy to have those murmured conversations with your "I just woke up" sleepy voice. This is my go-to spot when a friend is in town and we want to grab a sit-down breakfast. read more

We were excited to find Nibs in Oakland after dining at Nibs in El Cerrito and Alex's Giant Burger in Richmond. Hanna and Alex are turning out the same great breakfasts. They are on Market St. Nice ambiance, outdoor dining, too. We drove down San Pablo Ave from El Cerrito, it took 21 minutes on a weekday during rush hour. Not bad! read more

On Saturdays, they only do to-go. That was fine by me as I had a puppy waiting for me at home. I swear, I put him in his crate for 35 minutes so I can go get gas and pick up a meal and this boy whines when I get back like I left him for a day without food or water. Anyway, the food was great. They are soon raising their prices which they posted (I mean, inflation) but even when they do, I think I'm coming back here. I got a mini breakfast and an OJ and left a pretty good tip and it was very reasonable. Btw, if that's the mini breakfast, American's are eating too much. I got a heap of home fries, an egg, 2 sausage and 2 slices of buttered rye toast. While I waited I saw one customer come in and was greeted by first name. When I left the woman working there was very kind while handing me my food. My dog waited for me to finish just so he could justify begging me to lick the plate. He enjoyed the egg yolk. read more

This is my all-time favorite breakfast spot in the Bay Area, I've been here multiple times and had different plates, everything so far has been amazing!! We were looking for a place to get some food about 1100 after leaving the San Francisco area and YELP recommended this place. We waited for quite awhile for the food to arrive but our party enjoyed what we ordered. My wife is a pancake aficionado and she was not disappointed. I had breakfast (good) my son in law had a mushroom burger and we had no complaints. The staff was working hard to get orders out as quickly as possible and the did a good job considering there were only 2 people. It's a small homey place and deserves the 4 stars. read more

Hmm this did not hit the mark. Firstly the neighborhood is a little rough. Secondly the food didn't have any flavor. It seems like they cook completely omitting salt and pepper. I understand everyone has different tastes but a basic amount of salt and pepper should be used. I ordered an omelet which came with home fried potatoes. The omelet was okay but bland. But the potatoes were inedible. I think they boil them then put it on the stove for char marks. Would not return. read more

Nibs is one of my favorite lunch/brunch spots (and it doesn't hurt that it is only a few blocks away). My partner and I have tried many dishes and all are fantastic: beef teriyaki, cheeseburgers, soups of the day, omelettes, waffles, french toast, and sandwiches. My favorite is the "super" sandwich which is a turkey melt always cooked to perfection. It is tiny, so it fills up quickly and can feel a bit claustrophobic. This is not an issue, when going on off-times. The place is run by Hannah and Alex, who are nice as can be, although it is just Alex cooking and Hannah serving, so please be patient. It's worth it. Lastly, I would be remiss in not to mention that the portions are enormous, so come hungry. read more

Nibs is the quintessential mom & pop old school breakfast diner run by a cute & quirky korean couple. Despite it being a little run down, the inside is decorated with a hodge podge of fun knick knacks and the food is solid. Esp the waffle. Yum. This place is run by a an husband/wife team that are veterans in the diner business. Nibs used to be in El Cerrito, and then they opened up a place in San Pable (Giant Burger). I always get the same 2 things: Cheeseburger and fries, or over medium eggs with potatoes and toast. Simple diner food that is very well executed and is very consistent because of the experience of the people running the show. If you are in the mood for diner food, definitely go to this place! read more

I truly enjoy the female staff/server. She was precious but the food was gross flavorless and just not what Is depicted on this site. The photos taken sure catfished the F outta me. So good job on that one. It's very noticeable that the majority of the customers are return/locals/ friends or family which is great. But non regular foodies who look for flavor and to eat with your eyes, this is prob not the place for you read more

Got lucky and parked two blocks away. Lovely's restaurant is also here on the Two Pitchers Brewing premises. See pictures and other 5 star Yelp review. The food was amazing! I was worried when I first saw what my daughter and wife ordered as that was not my wife's usual type of food.. Corn Fritters - My order. The oil they fried this in was dark; I was worried that the oil was old...? But it tasted fresh and good. I would get this again, but prefer a lighter oil next time please. The Chili Willie - My wife's order?!?! And this was good. The jalapenos gave it the perfect kick. I told my wife I am here for the beer, and as light eaters I just wanted to share something with them. Classic Fried Chicken Sandwich - No surprise my daughter's order. Well she wanted your sold out Fish & Chips (which is weird because I think she ate that last night also...?). This was also made-to-order fresh! The chicken had a good crisp until the last bite and was moist inside! Fried perfectly. She also ordered Chili Cheese Fries with that; I guess that is the theme today. Lastly, the soft serve looked so good but too bad it would clash with my beer drinking, lol. To compliment my dinner, or the other way around, lol. Two Pitchers Brewing: 10 of their beers are on tap and the rest are guests' taps. So of course, I had to try their $3 Signature Lager which was too light for me. You basically get what you pay for. Next... Pale Ale - $7, now that's more like it! No IPA today, so I had to settle. My daughter got the Yard Bird, Strawberry Lemonade Beer; it suited her. Ready for my 3rd beer, when my daughter said she wanted to go home and party some more?!?! So I abided. Ambiance - Cool space. Lots of semi private spaces that you can rent. See pictures or their website. Very kid and dog friendly! Unisex restrooms with outside sinks, thank you! NO parking! So bad on a Saturday evening, that we almost did not come. Open 6 days a week. See pictures or their website. Closed on Mondays. Service - Counters service. For both Lovely's and the bar. The outdoor bar is WAY faster service than the inside bar, just an FYI. Same team, but more organized. Price - $49 + generous tip. Including a 3% operations fee/credit card fee, see the small print on the very bottom of the menu. Expensive, even for the Bay Area. But that is the price for quality. 20% gratuity for orders over $250. Owner Comment - Congrats to the building since 1919. Congrats on your success since 2021. Glad we were able to visit. Are you the same owners as Two Pitchers Brewing?

And it's been satisfying and well worth it all three times. I recommend both dining in and delivery. You cannot go wrong with their double burger. The smashed patties are perfectly cooked and seasoned. The supporting elements are quality and executed spot-on each time: the cheese, grilled onions, and mayo. It's a perfect fast casual burger. I also recently tried the Chopped Beef burger and dang it was amazing. The hearty meat and cheese the and buttery bread texture hit hard. This will be another go-to and I recommend it. For sides I've gotten tator tots, regular fries, and season fries. All fantastic and they're generous with the portions. HOWEVER -- you've gotta get the seasoned fries. Addictive and finger-licking amazing. When dining in staff is always friendly. Area's not too busy and you'll always find parking easily down a side street. And price wise it honestly feels like a steal for me given the care and quality and pure satisfaction. Works for me though -- I'm going to keep ordering from this place. Cannot recommend this gem of a burger joint enough. Fantastic seasoning and execution, solid prices, and absolutely satisfying every time.
