I needed a dark grey color and went into this peace of crap store and showed the woman at the front desk the color I needed. I actually showed her my car. I took a look at the paint and said I wanted this one, "she says well it looks like it's a metallic grey and that I should take another color." Her suggestion was one that was more expensive, but I tried to trust her because maybe she actually knew something about the colors that I didn't. I decided to buy the color she suggested. She does not give me a receipt, I decide to say no big deal because I knew that I would need to test it before officially using it. I took one quick spray of the can to see if it even matched as she suggested and brought it back to the store to ask for the spray paint that I originally wanted. The woman without any concern for me as a customer says "We can't take it back if it was sprayed." What?!? Nice policy, but would make more sense if you gave me good advise as a customer service rep! You suggested this item, it's wrong and you won't even take it back. I could understand if I asked for my money back and or had used a ton of the paint, but a spray to see the color? Give me a break! I will never come here again.

Front of store usually houses rotating seasonal items. They have a wide variety of kitchen/storage and other less hardware centric consumer items. Oscar and the painting section crew are great with custom colors and color matching. Being able to pick up a quart of a custom color has been very helpful for me over the years. Steve and the other hardware/store crew are always good at answering my random questions, leading me in the right direction. The checkout staff always changes, but employees are consistently nice.

Foley's had BETTER PRICE than the Supermarket!…read more I decided to buy a Fix-A-Flat tire repair product for my son (who had a flat the week before) I went to my local supermarket, found Fix-A-Flat priced at $14, but figured Foley's might have it...and I like to patronize local businesses when possible. Turned out it was $12, two dollars cheaper, at Foley's, but I realized something else: Auto care, tools, and garden supplies are bread-and-butter to a hardware store, while they're just convenience items for a supermarket: stores like Foley's have to be well-stocked, and have knowledgeable staff who can answer questions. So now I will make Foley's my first choice for tools, because they know them best. But don't worry, supermarkets in Larchmont and Mamaroneck: If Foley's starts selling carrots and cauliflowers, I'll still buy them from you.

Their stock is extensive, their staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and their prices are comparable: I recently had to replace some fluorescent bulbs, drove a mile to Foley's, spoke to a friendly salesperson, got the bulbs and was home in minutes. Just out of curiosity I went on-line and checked the price of the same bulbs at the national chain: SAME price as Foley's! It's always good to patronize local businesses, who pump the dollars you spend with them back into the local economy, but with places like Foley's you're not sacrificing time or money.

I went in there recently to buy a wrench to tweak the saddle height on my bike and was not too amused. One of the employees made it clear that he didn't want me working on my bike there, which I wasn't planning to do. My plan was to buy the wrench and work on the bike outside. The guy at the checker did not seem too knowledgeable or interested in helping. I went in there expecting them to take a look at the part I wanted to work on and to be given some advice on how to take it on. I left with a wrench that did not help me with the repair i needed, and was told that I could not return the tool even though I had purchased it about 2 minutes before. I don't typically leave reviews, but I hope that this can motivate small shops like this one to continue to do all that they can when someone comes in requesting some guidance.
