When I wanted to upgrade the look of my 2004 Gibson SG Special I turned to the technicians from NH Guitars. Not only did they do a great job but with the setup it now both looks and sounds as good as it gets. This was my first experience with NH Guitars in having one of my guitars worked on and they took great care of it and me as well. A quick turnaround is part of an excellent customer service model and NH Guitars knows how to treat their customers better than any other Guitar Shop in the NH area. Might be time to take advantage of their Guitar Setup Program for all of my Guitars, if you need work done - big or small - to your precious music equipment NH Guitars is the place to take them.

I just purchased another really nice electric guitar from NH Guitars and dropped off one for Paul to sell for me.

He suggested I put in for a refund. I was not going to be the one to break the deal and I told him I was not interested in a refund, I wanted the instrument they sold me and was bought and paid for. A short time later, Paul tells me they looked all over and can't find it and sent me a refund anyway. They had the instrument when they took pictures of it and posted it on a Reverb two months prior! It was an oddball Electric Sitar/Guitar Did they think it might be rare or a prototype? Did someone offer them more money? Did they keep it for themselves? Did an employee steal it? I asked them to check with all of their employees and any surveillance footage, sales records, etc. If I had a music store and an instrument was missing, I would be raising heck! Especially something already sold, bought and paid for by a customer! I will never deal with this place again and I hope that no one does. Do so at your own risk!

Five or so calls later and I got to talking with Scott at Naked Guitar Repair. He came off as a good dude who was really comfortable with guitars and confident in his work, so even though I had found a cheaper option, I drove over to Madbury to meet Scott. His shop is located in the same lot as a landscaping business and is entered through the side door under the green awning along the right-hand side of the building. The space is refreshingly unfinished, with tools lining the perimeter workbench spaces and guitars in various states of build hanging along the walls. The real look of the place was the first of a few indications that I had chosen the right repair shop for my old Yamaha. Scott looked up from his work and received me warmly into his workshop. He deftly inspected the guitar, played a Spanish riff to check its original condition, and concluded that it was in great shape, definitely worth cleaning up. Throughout the "interview" he was really friendly and shared a great deal of information about his history with guitars; during this conversation I also came to learn that Scott builds electric guitars from scratch under the name Stonewall Instruments in this same space (another indication that my Yamaha was in good hands). He was even willing to work with me on the price of the work. I picked up the guitar a few days later, and, needless to say, it sparkled and sang. I'll try to include a photo of it with this post, but you should just take my word for it -- the guitar glows like it was touched by a experienced perfectionist and is matched by the sweetest tone, new strings tight and sharp. Can't be more happy with the "upgrade" Scott was able to bring out of her. Not only do I recommend Naked Guitar Repair to anyone looking for a honest conversation about a guitar in need, but I'm personally committed to returning to the business when Scott has his annual Stonewall Instruments open house. Hope this helps. Be well!
