I bought an instrument from them on Reverb…read more I even agreed to buy a used gig bag they had on their site for $20, since the electric sitar that I purchased didn't have one The next morning, an hour before the store opens, "Paul" tells me to hold off on buying the gig bags because they can't find the instrument that I bought! He suggested I put in for a refund. I was not going to be the one to break the deal and I told him I was not interested in a refund, I wanted the instrument they sold me and was bought and paid for. A short time later, Paul tells me they looked all over and can't find it and sent me a refund anyway. They had the instrument when they took pictures of it and posted it on a Reverb two months prior! It was an oddball Electric Sitar/Guitar Did they think it might be rare or a prototype? Did someone offer them more money? Did they keep it for themselves? Did an employee steal it? I asked them to check with all of their employees and any surveillance footage, sales records, etc. If I had a music store and an instrument was missing, I would be raising heck! Especially something already sold, bought and paid for by a customer! I will never deal with this place again and I hope that no one does. Do so at your own risk!

I am one of those people that would really prefer to not be helped in a store, but judging the quality of a musical instrument is over my head, so I was pretty sure that there was no way to reasonably avoid assistance. Lucky for me, the owner was an extremely nice person with a no rush, no nonsense approach to explaining both his available instruments and services (such as lessons for the clueless beginner or installation of fine tuners). Furthermore, Dracut Music Center is more than happy to special order anything that is not currently available in the small but very well stocked store. When I did make a selection, he carefully talked me through some of the basics to ensure that I understood what I was getting myself into. His extra time and care have definitely won my allegiance.

Both are now great instrumentalists and musicians though grown up and residenced in other States. On several occasions when looking for strings, I've brought my filthy trash Bari Ukulele in and they string it up and clean it for me which is really cool. Today I got myself a Tenor Guitar and wanted to put it in "Chicago Tuning," but in my haste to tune it, I broke a string after having it out of the box for all of 3-5 minutes (everything I touch breaks!) I immediately put on my coat and drove over to University Music. The wonderful woman behind the counter is always as kind as can be, and willing to help when I come in with all of my issues. Love this place. (If you are a Bari Uke player and have not tried a Tenor Guitar, put it on your bucket list. This thing is fucking fun. I've not put it down since I came home, excepting while writing this review. Thank you University Music, you're the best music store around.)

Brought an acoustic guitar to this repair shop when it was in Boston near Berkley. The guitar I…read morewanted repaired had developed cracks from the soundhole through the lower bought and binding. After nearly two weeks I had to call to see if my guitar was ready. After the repair the guitar looked just like it did before I brought it in for repair. The cracks were not fixed. All he did was glue wood stock blocks to the underside for $280. My guitar was still under warranty from Gibson. I contacted them and they made mention of a shoddy repair. Fortunately this repair shop was an authorized repair shop by Gibson. Gibson replaced my guitar with a brand new one of the same model with hang tags still on it and Gibson factory polished and plecked. Thank you Gibson. Booo to this so called repair shop. BEWARE !!!

I was more impressed with the service at Indie Music than at pretty much any other local business…read moreI've frequented. I was in the market for an acoustic-electric guitar upgrade. I shopped the larger chains and did a lot of online research before going to Indie Music. At the larger chains, I felt pressured every time I went to go try out some guitars. At Indie Music, that wasn't the case. I walked in and had the guitar room pretty much to myself to try out the different acoustics. There was no pressure to buy or answer a bunch of questions about what I was looking for. When I finally narrowed down the selection to 2 guitars, they were very helpful answering any questions that I had. They even went so far as to pull out several different guitars of the same model, out of the boxes, to show that each guitar may sound slightly differently. I was so impressed by their knowledge and friendliness that I bought my new guitar on the spot. They even gave me a good deal on my trade in. The day after I purchased my guitar was super cold and the humidity dropped to almost 0. 3 strings on the 13th and 14th frets wouldn't play. They told me to bring it right in and they made adjustments on the spot to get it working. I was told to keep them updated and bring it back so that they could get the guitar tuned in correctly. I'd recommend Indie Music to anyone!
