I had an awful costumer service experience here. The associate who helped me was very rude and impatient with me. I wanted to trade in one of my pedals and put the money towards another order. When the associate started to get frustrated with me for not understanding how that system worked, she looked over at her co worker and said "I can't do this" and continued to have an attitude with me during our whole exchange. While I understand these jobs can be frustrating and stressful, I could not believe the audacity of this woman to say something to her coworkers while helping me, about me. Save it for later. I haven't been to GC in years. I never had a bad experience, I just started buying everything online. I decided to give them a try again and I was pleasantly surprised. I was in the market for an acoustic guitar. I originally bought a lower priced/end Taylor. After playing that for a few days I realized I needed a higher end guitar. To be fair, this guitar (210CE) played great, but it just didn't feel right after playing it for a few hours. I brought the guitar back and picked out a 314CE. I am in love with this guitar. It is beautiful! The guy that helped me gain access to try the guitars (the higher end ones are locked up) was very accommodating and patient. I played just about every guitar in the acoustic room until I found the "one". I really like GC and the Manchester Music Mill. I'm glad stores like this still exist. Buying everything online sucks, especially when it comes to buying guitars. read more

Horrible service! Went in with cash in my pocket to buy an electric bass, amp and gear. Staff was too busy talking to each other to notice me. Chased down an employee and asked him to help me find something that would suite me. Evidently I picked the employee who new less than me, and I don't even play yet. Left disappointed and empty handed after realizing he went on to helping other people.... I'll look elsewhere. Big thanks-for-nothin to the guy with the High-Top Vans and high-waters..... I would not recommend this place to anyone looking to get into playing music. The staff are no hope at all. This play could use some adult aged musicians. The staff seems friendly enough but Guitar Center as a chain no longer carries high-end guitars (acoustic or electric). Furthermore, almost everything you might want to try in the acoustic room is locked down so you have to get a staff member each time you want to try something. I avoid GC as much as possible. Almost every time I go in and ask for something, I'm told they don't carry it -- when in fact they do! I recently went in to get a Rock Slide. I asked where they are, and was told "we don't carry those". I had to show them in GC app on my phone that they were in stock in the Nashua store. 20 minutes later the clerk returned with a Rock Slide. Another time I went in for an Expression Pedal. I ask the clerk "What do you have in the way of expression pedals?" He answered "we don't carry those", and promptly returned to texting on his phone. I pull out my phone and show him what is in stock at his store. He then walks about 8 feet from the counter, pulls one off the wall, hands it to me, and just walks away. Of course with his face buried in his phone again. There was a time when GC had some of the most knowledgeable and helpful employees. But ever since Bain Capital purchased GC, this has been the level of service I have experienced. Simply pathetic. read more

I haven't used my guitars in an embarrassing long time. Over the years I kept telling myself I would until it had been long enough where I was embarrassed to go get new strings put on for me for one of them. Today I bit the bullet and brought it into Guitar Center In Nashua And I Am So Happy I Did!! Everyone was super nice, I got asked a few times if I needed assistance and no one spoke down to me or made me feel like an idiot (I realize this was my fear). Pete came out to restring my guitar, explained humidifiers to me for my instruments (I am from the west coast and had no idea I should have these in my cases) so I purchased 3. He added my strings, tuned my guitar and was an all around support nice and authentic guy. I am super pleased. I plan to cone here for all my guitar needs in the future. There were minor technical issues with both that were handled both efficiently and proficiently by Matt the guitar tech. The man cares about his work and it shows. I apologize but this is going to be long and detailed. WORST GUITAR CENTER I'VE EVER BEEN IN. Going camping this weekend with my fiance and grandkids. I loaned a friend of mine my acoustic a couple of months ago because he has Alzheimer's and I thought it would be therapeutic since we played together in high school so I needed a camp fire guitar. I was in the market for a intermediate guitar that would suit my needs for the holiday weekend and was looking to spend around $300. I found a really nice playing Ibanez AEG12II-NMH. I am absolutely not knocking Guitar Centers quality and selection of instruments. I had about an hour to shop because I had to be to work. I walked in with my grandson while my fiance and younger grandson waited in the car. The place was pretty much empty when I entered and there were at least seven associates working but not one of them greeted me and my grandson. I went into the acoustic room and started picking up and playing the guitars. I was in there for at least a half hour and never in that time did one of them come in and ask me if I needed assistance. Two weeks prior to this I bought a beautiful $2600 Gibson Les Paul Traditional at the Danvers, MA Guitar Center location. It was a floor model and there were a couple of minor surface scratches on it so the clerk bumped about $300 off the asking price. Great guy and he seemed to enjoy the art of haggling. Last week I purchased a Williams Overture 2 digital piano for my grandkids (so they can start taking lessons) from the Manchester, NH Guitar Center store and was waited on by an amazing young lady. I asked her if I bought the piano, could she throw in a stool? She asked her manager and they were happy to accomidate me. I also bought about $160 worth of guitar accessories. Two of the associates even brought it to my car. Kudos to Manchester and Danvers Guitar Centers!!! 5 stars all the way. Which brings me to today. I wasn't really upset that no one came to assist me and asked me if I needed any help. I'm an experienced guitarist but they didn't know that. I brought the guitar to the checkout desk and asked if I bought this guitar could you guys throw in a cheap carry bag (the cheapest one was $25) and explained that I have been a loyal customer and have spent a good deal of money with Guitar Center in the last couple of weeks and over the years. He told me it was against company policy and that Guitar Center was moving away from that type of "Mom And Pop" operation. I explained to him the pleasant experiences I had with the other Guitar Centers over the last couple of weeks and he said that they violated corporate policy. This part upset me so I asked to speak to a manager. I waited another 15 minutes for the manager to come to the register and got the same response. Finally, I was exasperated by all this and decided to just purchase this guitar. I was late for work and needed to go. The clerk rung up the guitar but neglected to ring up the gig bag. It came out to $299. I am an active Army Resevist and Iraq/Afghanistan veteran so while my card was in the chip reader, I asked him if they offered a military discount. He said they did have a 10% military discount (I wish I knew this before I made all my previous major purchases in the last couple of weeks) but it was already rung up. He offered me a $3 bag of picks in lieu of the military discount and I asked him if he'd throw in a capo. He told me "sorry, can't do it." Then I did the math... 10% of $300 is $30 and he couldn't throw in a $12 capo with $3 pack of picks? I insisted that he rebate my debit card. He reluctantly did. I was done at this point. I reached for the gig bag and he said "Oh, that hasn't been rung up yet." I needed to leave and asked him to just give me the cardboard box it came in. He told me it didn't have one. I asked him if the store had A cardboard box I could have so it wouldn't get damaged and he said "No". At this point I'm starting to get upset and said "Are you serious?" He walked away from me and said that he's not going to stand there and get yelled at by me. At no point did I raise my voice with this young man. I was assertive but polite. I brought the gig bag to another associate and paid for it. I shook his hand, thanked him, and left. I want people to know that I'm not a rich, spoiled a**hole. The money I spent was from my retroactive VA PTSD claim. I just wanted to treat myself to something I was never was able to afford and expose my grandkids to the beautiful world of music. The Danvers and Mancester Guitar Center knew the value of a satisfied, return customer. Apparently, Nashua wants to have their branch go under. I bought my first stringed instrument today. There aren't many places in Nashua to try out a variety of instruments. I was uncomfortable going in because I've been to Guitar Center before and I expected the employees to disappear when I want assistance and that I would have trouble hearing the sound of the instruments I tried over the sound of guys who just hang out there to show off their guitar skills. That's exactly what happened. My spouse and I walked through the store like characters in a sci-fi show who freeze time and pass completely unnoticed through a scene. We walked through employees and we both handled several instruments and accessories like ghosts. We couldn't hear each other over the noise of someone playing with an electric guitar. In the humidified room of stringed instruments there was the usual fixture, a guy so into listening to himself playing a guitar that he doesn't care that customers can't test the sound of other instruments over the sound of him playing. It is the worst on Saturday nights, in my experience, when there are several of these guys and their hangers-on being loud and in the way of people who are trying to shop. We wanted to look through picks in person rather than buy them online, but they are way far behind a counter. Seasons seemed to pass and we grew old before being acknowledged by an employee. That occurs when an item is placed onto the counter next- to the cash register. Didn't think the employee was as knowledgeable in the products as I would hope for in a guitar store. At least another employee jumped in before we left to say that a free travel case was supposed to have been given to me. I did eventually get it and it's nice. So- the inventory is good for this area and apparently you can handle all of the instruments (but not picks) that you want without any pesky salespeople interrupting your shopping or interrupting the loud performances of (customers or exhibitionists). read more

I bought my first acoustic guitar (my first guitar ever) and brought it in to be serviced so it would be more comfortable to play. I told the service tech, Matt, that I was new to guitar and he was super personable and very knowledgeable and he didn't talk down to me or make me feel like an idiot. He was able to work on it right away and 45 min later it was good to go with lighter strings and lower action. And WOW what a difference! My guitar is so much more comfortable to play and practice! I have started to buy from GC again after some less than stellar experiences. The customer service is actually good now, Jacob did a great job as had Anthony. I have bought two professional strats since April 2017. So I have spent about $2200 plus. I can honestly say Adam the customer service manager in Boston was the one who convinced me to give GC a second chance and I am glad I did. Upon entering I was greeted by someone who I did not see and then I had to wait to speak with an associate at the register. I told them that I had called about this guitar and spoken to an associate named (removed) and was informed that they had 1 left in the color I wanted most. He looked it up and said "It's over there on the grey part of the back wall" and turned away to go back to his previous, apparently more important, task. I went to the section of store he said and found what I thought was the guitar about 6 feet too high to even touch. Back to the front register and another wait. Told him I found it but couldn't be sure since I could not read the tag from that distance. He came back and got a ladder rig to retrieve it, it was indeed the right one and he handed it to me. I started to look it over and when I looked up he was walking away. I know NOTHING about guitars, this is a new thing to me, I only picked this one from a suggestion by someone who plays who I trust. Now feeling completely like I'm nothing but a nuisance to the entire store I head for the register again and just want to pay for the f'n thing and go. We drove 50 miles to get here in the rain on the Friday after work rush to New Hampshire on Memorial Day weekend. While looking it over in the car on the way home I noticed that there was no tremolo bar on it. I checked online and sure enough it is supposed to come with one. Immediately called the store and explained that I was just there 30 minutes ago to buy this and that the tremolo was missing. I was told "Aaaahh It doesn't come with one." I pointed out that online it clearly states that it indeed does come with one. Nope, it doesn't, yes it does, no it doesn't, yes it does, no it doesn't. Silence. I was then advised to order one from the website at full retail and pay the shipping. Now thoroughly pissed, I called the HQ customer service number and explained the situation. They agreed with me but made no attempt to explain the stores behavior or offer even a glimpse of an apology when I explained my experience. They were friendly and helpful on the issue at hand however, and have arranged to ship me one so I don't have to travel back to the store to return the entire guitar by shoving it up ........never mind. So situation pending resolution but I'm likely 2 weeks out from having a complete guitar and the Nashua GC store, will never see me again and unless GC has a really good reason for me to return I'm not going to volunteer to feel like &$%^. After arriving home I found the email from customer service about my replacement tremolo and the address I gave them is wrong. Wrong town wrong zip, if it ships like this I'll never get it. Back on the phone to GC Customer Service to correct the address. The system decides where you live and what address is best, no overrides possible. We finally decide that I can never get anything delivered unless it is to my post office box so any item over about 3 lbs. I can't buy from them. ?. Just put my address in the way I ask, no other online retailer has a problem with that and things arrive just fine on a near daily basis. Now my opinion of GC is not good. They use an outmoded sales policy in the store where individual salespeople are on commission I guess since only *original salesperson* could ring me up (another wait while they found him). Yeah that's right, GC uses a strategy straight out of 1983 where NOONE in the store will help you unless they touched you first. The only team work here is backwards facing toward the corporate HQ, customer side you get 1 person, better hope he/she knows what the hell you're talking about. The address thing is a complete mystery, it's like they have a database of addresses they ship to and if you're not lucky enough to live in one of those houses, tough luck mate. Follow up: After this letter was received by the Nashua store I received a call from the store's Customer Service Manager apologizing for my experience. He used a phrase that was very telling and gave me some insight. During the conversation he used the phrase " ...our store is trying to turn this around... " . I have to conclude from that that they have had a long standing issue with customer complaints. I accepted his apology and said I would consider this a one off experience and give them another chance in the future. I received an email from him with his contact info and a note that read in part " Please feel free to reach out at any time, and I'd be happy to make sure your experience is nothing less than Amazing!" I am now in the market for a clip on tuner and sent this gentleman an email stating that I would be in the area and would like to give the store another chance. I also asked if he could check to insure that the item I am looking for is in stock. NOTHING. No reply . I think you can guess where I will NOT be buying the tuner. Fool me once etc... read more

I ordered an e-kit from the Nashua store yesterday and spoke to the employee on the phone who informed me he had the products physically in the store and I could order them online and pick them up before 7pm. I said great, I'm driving up from Boston, he goes sounds good see you soon. I get there, he tells me to my face AFTER helping another customer against company policy exchange a guitar at the door that I have to wait 24 hours. I go dude... you didn't tell me that on the phone and I told you I was driving up here from Boston. It says NOTHING about a 24 hour wait on the website. He won't fix my order and sell it to me even though he has the products in the store and my card in hand BUT helps this other dude at the against company policy to make a few hundred dollars on an exchange. This wasn't miscommunication, he straight up lied to my face about what he said to me on the phone and failed to mention anything about a 24 hour waiting period. I work at a movie theatre at MIT, if someone called me and asked if I had a movie and I said yes and they drove here an hour from Maine or NH to see it and it wasn't actually playing, I'd get fired. So I told him, refund my money right now. I'll go buy it somewhere else... and now the money is on hold for 72 hours so I can't go spend it on a different kit somewhere else til next week. Really appreciate you wasting my time and gas money to make me come up there for nothing and ruin a good day. You should not have a job anymore. read more

Walking into the store, not a single one of the five employees at the front had the ability to conjure up a greeting. Off to a great start. Walking into the recording section in the back to check out the studio monitors, I look around for someone to reach out to for assistance testing out the monitors...nothing. After looking at the display models and reading up on box information twenty minutes went by and still nothing. Fed up with waiting, I walked towards the door to leave and the same employees were there, huddled together chatting amongst themselves. Still, they even failed to say anything upon exiting. I absolutely cannot recommend anyone visit a store like this where customer service is literally nonexistent. For your own sake, stay away. read more

TERRIBLE!!!!! This at least the 3rd to 4th time I have tried to buy from Nashua NH store. I look it up online, then call and every dam time I get "I have people in front of me give me your number i'll call you right back" NEVER EVER have they even called me!!!!! I ask for them to make sure they will... I live an hour away! I was trying to buy a used Ibanez RGAT62 Which is labeled incorrect anyhow! Thought it was a RGAT62 - Looks like it sold today. Once again I got screwed by GC and terrible customer service. Now I know why I am only dealing with the Music Mill in Manchester NH Too bad I know all the club owners I consult and do audio and karaoke for them and the MM will be getting all the sales. I went here to purchase the Mbox(3gen). It was quick and painless. The staff was cool. They even gave me a price match which saved me almost $150. FYI tho, if you want a price match here, the place your matching to has to be an authorized dealer for whatever brand your looking to buy. We bought a digital piano here a couple of years ago. We already had an upright so I wasn't looking for a really expensive one, just one that you can use headphones with (I don't get to play usually until after the kids are in bed). I did some cursory research and asked for recommendations from my kids' piano teacher but I really had no idea and thinking about all the different factors made my brain hurt (was having a bad week - hence the need to play piano). The staff at the Guitar Center was great. They didn't try to sell me more than I wanted, let us take our time and try out all the models we wanted even if that meant trucking them out from the back room. The place is pretty small so they rotate different pieces. The guy that helped us (Greg?) was really knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions. In the end it came down to a Yamaha and a Casio. I was leaning toward the Yamaha because, well it's a Yamaha. It was more expensive so you would think that they would have pushed it on me but they didn't. Ended up buying the Casio on Greg's recommendation and have been really happy with it. read more

BUYER BEWARE Picked up a beautiful Ovation acoustic guitar at the Nashua store. Upon getting it home and playing it a bit more I was hearing a really odd tone and having trouble tuning it. After a much closer inspection I found the neck had a long crack along the grain of the wood as if it had been dropped or flexed during shipping. Drove it back and the folks at Guitar Center took one look, agreed it was damaged, and were pretty great about processing my return. It was a left handed guitar and so they had to special order a replacement from Ovation. Other than waiting a brief period for the new guitar to arrive my exchange was processed without much hassle so they get good marks for all that. Here's the problem: When I returned to the store a few weeks later and was browsing around a bit, guess which left handed Ovation I found back on the sales floor? That's right. Somehow, rather than being shipped back to the manufacturer it had made its way back back into inventory and onto the sales floor. Giving them the benefit of the doubt (perhaps someone simply saw it in the back room and moved it out onto the floor again) I played dumb and simply pretended I had just noticed the broken neck to a sales agent on their floor. The employee took one look, said something along the lines of "Dang....that's ruined" and promptly took the guitar off the floor into the back room where it could be marked as damaged and sent back to the manufacturer. I got a "good catch" from the sales agent and a thank you. A few weeks later.....guess which guitar was back on the wall?? Once could be an honest mistake. Twice just stretches credulity. I cannot help but wonder if they had knowingly sold me a broken guitar hoping I'd never notice just as they were were now planning to do to the next unsuspecting buyer. Went in with my sister to purchase a guitar for the very first time. She has never played and knew nothing about guitars so obviously she went to an employee to ask for some guidance. We were told just a few minutes as he was "finishing up" with his customer. After waiting an additional 15 minutes and seeing multiple employees available but unwilling to help, we decided to go into the acoustic guitar room on our own and check them out ourselves. Luckily there was a CUSTOMER in the room playing a song and was kind enough to help us out. I repeat customer! Not employee. We picked a guitar and then went back to the register where someone asked if we were all set and just rung us up. While we were leaving the employee said "oh sorry the wait took so long to help you"... There was no wait! Because we weren't helped. If it weren't for the kind customer we would probably still be waiting... Guitar less... Needless to say I think guitar center needs to work on their customer services... Big time. read more

Bought a $2000 guitar in early 2015 here. In December, the pick guard started coming loose. We took it in for repair as we had bought the $200 protection plan. We were told "one week". After a week we were told "soon". Now, after 4 WEEKS, we've been told no one has even touched it. The service at this store is TERRIBLE. Would not buy anything here again. There may not be competitive national chains but there are local businesses that will earn our business. read more

The saleperson who helped us, Jack, greeted us as soon as we walked in and was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our time there. He was patient, answered all of our questions, was really attentive, and honestly went way above and beyond to make sure we were happy and got what we needed. When I got there they told ME to go find it in acoustic room , after 20 mins searching for it I realized it wasnt there. I came out and told them and they said they would look in basement etc. after 45 more mins standing/ waiting at counter i finally asked to speak to the manager . She never came , I was the only customer in the store and they apparently forgot about the one customer in the store , finally I got someones attention and they called over loudspeaker ..15 more mins later they appeared , with guitar , they said they were doing inventory and got sidetracked.
