This place serves cheap (prices include tax), pretty good Vietnamese banh mi (baguette services). But the service leaves much to be desired. The lady at the counter went beyond the usual brusque Asian service and shouted at me when I took pictures of the menu ("no picture! no picture!"). I guess they have so much business, the staff don't want even more publicity or they'll be overwhelmed. The BBQ Pork banh mi ($5) was pretty spicy even for an Asian palate (and despite my asking for it to be a little spicy - that service!) That said it was good - it was a good size, there was some crustiness to the bread, the pork was very fragrant and there was quite a bit of it. Assorted cold cuts ($3) was pretty good - there were quite a lot of cold cuts and the quality of the meat was good. Lemongrass sausage and garlic honey sausage were both good too; garlic honey was a bit better. Other sandwich options include shredded pork rind, meat balls, super (just a big sandwich), sardines, shredded pork, vegetarian, BBQ chicken and peppercorn ham. Also tried the spring roll. While it was pretty big, it was below average, tasting disappointing and having too much yam. It also came without dipping sauce. Still, at $1.50 it wasn't too much of a regret. They sell desserts too. Mung bean with coconut cream (unlabelled) was pretty good - the mung bean was a little gloopy but it was fragrant and the coconut cream on top enhanced the experience.

Nothing but pickle carrot shreds.

The food service is not constant. they are messing up the order. They are cheap out on meat and veggies too. It used to be a family thing, I guess not now. Not worth the drive to get it at Nguen Huong. Sad.

This looked good, but was bland.

I remember spending summers at my grandfather's video store in Massachusetts and eating banh mi sandwiches from a cart. Those were the good ol' days. I walked into B&T Food Centre looking for banh mi sandwiches and was disappointed, only to find that the sandwiches are located right next door at Nguyen Huong. They have a variety of banh mi options, but the faded photos make them all look the same. I just pointed at one of the sandwiches that they were already making and said I'd have one of those. Prices have increased since others reviewed this place. The super sandwich that I ordered was $4, which I still think is a reasonable price. There were other sandwiches at lower price points. The banh mi sandwich was legit. The bread was crunchy, the meats were soft, the mayo sauce was flavorful, and the pickled vegetables were tasty. The only thing that was missing was the cucumber. Eating the banh mi at Nguyen Huong brought me back to my adolescent days. Nguyen Huong also has prepared and packaged desserts. I will have to go back and try those. Note: cash only.

Remember the good ol days when you could get this for $1.75? Well haha not anymore or never at this location anyways, they've kept prices same for years now from $3-5. It's strictly a take out place, no seating in the area to be found here. The ladies here can be very friendly but are usually to the point of get your order and moving the line fast. When ordering the veggie sandwiches(banh mi) they'll always ask if mayo is ok. For spice level, a little spice means 1-3 chilies which is hot and will still linger and heat your tongue. The right side of my tongue and lip is warm-swollen feel from munching a chili! So eat prepared and order a milky beverage to qualm the fire in your mouth! The viet desserts are yummy, if you love coconut milk then you're a fan. Usually a bean with tapioca shaped jelly in a sweet coconut milk soup. You can also buy the sandwich meat and other ingredients to make your own sandwiches at home which is handy. The French banquettes are always so fresh here, a great place to grab a snack or lunch if in the area.

Cold cut banh mi sandwich

Nguyen Huong is a walk-in sandwich shop, tucked unassumingly next to a supermarket. It has a wide variety of banh mi sandwiches, as well as spring rolls and other vietnamese food. We ordered the typical cold cut for just $3 from the counter. There's no seating, but no problem, we enjoyed our banh mi in the park instead. The cold cut sandwich had plenty of ham, sweet pickled carrot and coriander. The baguette was fresh with a flaky crust. The regular order had a mildly spicy butter spread that I quite enjoyed. The staff who made our order was patient but a bit difficult to understand due to her accent. This location is conveniently close to Vaughan Mills. We'll probably be back when we're seeking a sandwich again.

Banh mi

Probably one of the best banh mi places in the north GTA. Word of advice, do not eat the banh mi in your car no matter how tempting, as their bread is incredibly crunchy, and flaky. I always seem to make a huge mess eating this, as there just does not seem to be any "clean" way of eating this. As mentioned their breads are very crispy and flaky, part of the appeal of the sandwich. The portion ingredients are also very fair and lemon grass sausage is usually my go to here. Their regular subs are tasty, and they have a very good variety of sandwiches. Other places have done their own spin on banh mi (also named after the type of bread they use in the sandwich which is the French baguette), but this is the "original" style and still very tasty. Price is incredibly hard to beat given their most expensive sandwich is objet about $3, really how can you go wrong? Definitely worth a try, and I always make a pit stop when in the area.

Had a craving for bang mi and found this place that's attached to the grocery store. Really fresh bread and tasty banh mi. Recommend the spicy one. Lots of traditional viet take out avail at decent prices. $3/sandwich

Nguyen Huong's Banh Mi is my perfect in between meal snack! I like how they made every single Banh Mi when their customer order them instead have them all pre made as at the Scarborough location. As I like to request my sandwich extra extra spicy!! Line moves fast! Even before I can decide what I want! Grilled Pork? Lemongrass Sausage? Chicken? Cold Cut? I can snack on one of those everyday! FYI, Scarborough location does have a less doughy baguette for their more expensive banh mi.

At my friend's recommendation, we came to try the assorted cold cut banh mi. Previously before I only had premade packaged ones that were cold and hard. The ones here are freshly made and you can taste a huge difference from the cold cuts, carrots, and cilantro. For $3, it's a great deal for this sandwich. I would cone again to try the other options. Besides sandwiches, there are numerous side dishes for sale. In addition to their deli area of premade Vietnamese dishes and sandwiches, there is a grocery area next to it making it very convenient to eat and shop.

Would the real Nguyen Huong please stand up? Please stand up? Oh, there you are and you're in the same plaza as Mister Baguette. I barely noticed you being beside the Southeast Asian Grocery Store. 2.5 *Star* Okay, this looks more like the Nguyen Huong that I've visited in Scarborough and Downtown. Fridges align with Deli Meats, Prepared Foods, Snacks and Desserts. Vietnamese Sandwiches(Banh Mi)? Of course! They make each one to order here without any pre-made ones. Still the rockhard tasteless Baguettes of all Nguyen Huong branches but you can't ask for much when you're paying half the price of Subway Sandwiches. It ranges from $1.75 to $2.50 or so depending on your choice. 3 Color Drink($2.50) - Don't get it. Just don't get it here. Half the cup is Ice Cubes and I had to remove them first since they were placed on top of all the Jelly and Beans. #10 Lemongrass Sausage($2.25) - Lemongrass Sausages are pretty tasty and all the standard Banh Mi ingredients are given such as Pickled Veg, Cilantro, Mayo and Jalapeno. I just don't like eating it with the Baguette. Btw, I'm less of a Bread person so that you know.

A little bit of communication would have been nice, just got the "it's coming" the two times I asked about where it was, no timeline or anything. Spring rolls were kind of bland, no real flavour - however the crunchiness hits the spot. Bun bo hue when it arrives is truly amazing! The perfect amount of spice - makes you sweat a bit without killing you - you can still taste everything you're eating! The place is quite small and they get busy so expect some crowding. The food was delicious and had exceptional flavour and quality. My partner and I had the Bun Bo Hue (5/5) and the Grilled Pork and Chicken on Broken Rice (5/5). Bun Bo Hue was filled with meat and blood pudding. It was not as spicy as I had hoped it would be but the flavour profile was irresistibly good. Grilled Pork and Chicken on Broken Rice had ample portions of meat. They were tender and juicy. As I mentioned, the place gets busy and packed. We were a group of 8 and I tried to book a reservation a couple of days prior to our visit. To our disappointment, they did not accept reservations at all. The wait time was quite long since we were such a big group. This was quite hectic and stressful for the servers. Hopefully this can be considered in the future for big groups (8 people and above) to make the service smoother.

It's been a good run at this local staple…read more Pho Metro is one of the more well-known pho spot in Vaughan with tasty flavors, fast service and large portions. Ever since I discovered the spicy Curry Brisket Pho ($20.95), it has always been my go-to dish here all year-round. As creamy and thick as the broth appears, the intense Thai coconut curry flavours are perfect to slurp down in this modern fusion dish. We always order Pho Nam (XL $21.50) as well and both come loaded with a heaping portion of brisket slices in the piping hot noodle soup. From time-to-time, we also add the Banh Xeo savoury egg pancake which arrives on a huge plate even larger than the noodle bowls. Presented with a heap of greens & herbs, the crispy golden crepe is light and filled with bits of shrimp, pork, onions & bean sprouts. This is wrapped with the lettuce leaf for crunchy and refreshing bites. The menu prices have slowly but steadily increased over the past couple of years. There is still cash discount available. Not much has changed with the decor over the years in this spacious but dated restaurant interior. Service is always kind, fast and kid-friendly which is nice for young families. Skip it or hit it? I admit we don't visit as often as we used to all factors considered but boy that Curry Brisket Pho is something I crave.

Vietnoms has gotten so popular these days that I don't make an attempt to go on the weekends prime…read moretime as there is often a wait or you may get a cramped seat at the counter if you don't want to wait as long. Best to go on weekdays to get a better chance for seating. Recently tried a couple new items on their off menu including the curry beef noodle (fried egg noodles on top), these crispy triangle shaped rolls (forgot the name) maybe pork and crap roll? Then followed up with something I've gotten before the dry chicken pho noodle salad. The curry beef with the crispy egg noodles reminds me of khao soi though there is less of a coconut flavour and more salty and savoury. I don't usually have curry Vietnamese style so I didn't know what to expect. But we found it a little too salty and also I personally prefer my curry a little sweeter like Japanese or coconut-ish like Thai or HK style curries. It's good, just not to our palate. It's a generous portion so we took it home and actually used the remaining curry broth to make a tasty stew with other ingredients and a touch of marinara sauce and it turned out really tasty! The crispy triangles rolls we had were fantastic and I like the side of fresh greens with it. Dry chicken pho noodle salad is always good. I like that they provide the broth of beef balls on the side so you can always enjoy it with the broth if you like. I think the extra broth with beef balls only happens for dine-in though because I have taken out that same dish before and I don't remember them including the extra broth on the side. The other time we also tried their shaking beef (comes with a fried egg on top) with rice and ordered the tapioca seafood and pork noodle soup - look through my later photos for reference. I don't think we'll order the shaking beef again but the tapioca noodle soup would be in rotation. Love that they are always experimenting with different dishes and I'm always excited to try something new here from their off-menu dishes.

However The food I ordered didn't live up to the hype. We ordered 1. The sizzling meat plate with baguette 2. Banh Mi Dip (beef banh mi with a soup dip) 3. Small fried spring rolls Now, maybe I came in with overly high expectations. I've seen some reviews raving about these menu items But I was very disappointed in the dishes. The sizzling meat plate was actually not sizzling and was Luke warm. (Although flavours were not bad). The banh mi sandwich was kinda soggy even without dipping yet. And The fried spring rolls tasted like they were bought and frozen and not handmade. (I could be wrong but if I am, then that's even worse) All in all I won't be back, sorry But If you do go, maybe you will have a better experience with the food 3 stars is the best I can give, given it is a local spot and deserves all the support from Yelpers.
