I contacted NextDay Inspect after finding them through Yelp, to come and do a pre-purchase home inspection on a home that my wife and I are considering buying. They came out exactly at the time agreed, and showed up well prepared with the termite inspector (an add on I purchased) and got to work The termite inspection report was sent to me same day in a PDF format by email, and the home inspection report was sent to me next day on a Sunday! NextDay isn't fully open on Sundays and yet the inspector still did his report after a 4.5hour extremely thorough inspection. The work the inspector did, and the quality of the report are absolutely fantastic! Yes this inspection (like all) was expensive, costing me $618 total for the home inspection, termite inspection, and repair estimate report. But, I would be shocked if you could find any inspector (let alone one as thorough and knowledgeable as Michael at NextDay) to inspect your home for anywhere close to that price Ultimately, due to the massive issues they found we will not be buying the house they inspected. I used this company for my home inspection in Clifton, Va. Shortly after moving in I had to replace the heater and /AC (due to not working). During the install they discovered that there was a sump pump attached to the AC and they were curious why since the drain was right next to it. They turned on a hose and started filling the drain to discover that it is totally blocked and there is no drainage in the basement. Additionally, i found out after closing that the soffit, trim and fake pillars were rotting everywhere. read more

Pros: Really nice inspector. Respectful of your home. He wore shoe coverings so he doesn't track dirt/other things into home. Cons: Inspector was not thorough and the report lacked sufficient details. We could've saved the money by just requesting quotes from roofers because they were able to go onto the roof and INTO the attic to tell us where the leak is and what caused it. (See review below). We hired a roof/attic inspector in order to figure out why our roof has been leaking before calling a roofer. The website says, "the inspector will check the exterior of the roof and the interior of the roof by attic access." And there's a long list of what will be inspected for the roof and attic. Our inspector used a drone or some long stick to inspect the outside of the roof but when it came to the attic, he just poked his head into the crawl space and that's it. Just FYI, our attic crawl space is located at the front of the house and our leak was at the back of the house. It's about 100 feet back so someone just poking their head in the space will be unable to see what's going on in the back of the house. He should've been able to go in there because we had no problem doing it ourselves - we just don't know what we're looking for. That's why we wanted a professional to look at it. Someone who would be able to spot things we missed. If he went into the attic, he would've seen that the "possible problem" he speculated was, in fact, not the problem at all had he saw it himself. I cannot compare NextDay to anyone else, because after reading reviews, Better Business rating, etc., I chose them to do the inspection on my new condo, not anyone else. However, I am extremely pleased with their service. They saved me a lot of time and spared me the anxiety of having to find problems myself, and I will not hire anyone else in the future. I have decided to hire them again after my closing so I can report any problems i have while living there, as required by the builder. Home inspection was completed based on convenience. So if the test wasn't easily completed then it would be marked as not tested. There was a garage, a whole room and 2 fireplaces that weren't inspected. That wasn't the worse part, they missed mold. And the RWS package they offer is even worse. Absolutely, no coverages if the word moisture is mentioned in the home inspection report. I have contact them to see what can be done at this point; will update the review if there is a fair resolution. read more

John Fritz, was extremely customer service oriented and discussed with me what concerned me most prior and spent time checking every nook and cranny of the home. The report, 116 pages was thorough and provided not only details but pictures. Also recommendations were included. I highly recommend Nextday Inspect for home inspections. However, I would not recommend their pest inspection services as it is not performed by Nextday. They used a third party company whom I was trying to avoid "PEST NOW" due to their reviews which according to the sellers turned out to be accurate. read more

I have hired them twice now and I am about to hire them again. They do a very thorough job and are very personable. I have had different inspectors each time and both seemed very knowledgable. The first time I hired them, I needed someone to do a pre-construction property inspection. The electricity was turned off and the house was flooded when he arrived. What a disaster! The inspector waited for me to contact Pepco and get the electricity turned on. He graciously inspected other areas of the house whilst this was happening. I was able to get the electric turned on and the sump pumps to pump the water out. And the inspector completed his inspection. The last time I ordered an inspection from Next day inspect was in La Plata. This was a completely different property. It had a pool, a well, septic, and over 2 acres. NextDay was not able to check the well and septic but they did a good job on the house. I will be working with them again. read more

Honestly, the inspectors from Nextday Inspect that performed my home inspection are the best that I have ever hired. I have recently relocated to the Washington DC area for work and while I was under contract for my home purchase I selected Nextday Inspect to perform my home inspection. I was pleased to see the inspectors taking careful attention to safety items throughout their inspection. The inspectors were very detailed, looking at items on the outside of the housing, including walking on the roof and checking the garage to make sure that it operates safely. The inspectors checked to make sure the garage door automatically reverses if it encounters any resistance. A safety hazard was discovered in the backyard. The fence has a couple of the posts were rotten and loose at their base, which could fall over at any time. This careful attention to detail provided me with a sense of relief, as I have kids that often play in the front and backyard. The inspection took 3 hours in total, the inspectors did not skip anything and meticulously inspected every area of the house. As the inspectors were working, they communicated with me and my husband the items they were discovering and their recommendations on the severity of each item. I am thankful that the inspectors at Nextday Inspect were very knowledgeable, patient and professional. Services and prices are comparable to others, but they fell short on execution. What's included in the services I ordered was misrepresented, the contract (detailing said services) was withheld until 31 minutes before the appointment, the 4 personnel I communicated with (3 pre/1 post services) presented discrepancies between which services would be delivered for what price, how to assure accurate testing, what the process would entail, and how long it the process would take. Tracy gave this company an EXCELLENT first impression. When I explained my rationale for needing a full blown indoor air pollution test, she seemed genuine and validating. My concerns, which included all indoor contaminants, emphasized VOCs, having installed CO2 monitors & a Radon kit. She said they can test for all that and quoted the cost, sounding to me as if it were included. The first discrepancy was when Tracy said the premises needed to remain closed/sealed for 24 hours prior to an Air Quality inspection. I booked a $90/motel room for my dog and I b/c dogs need access to outdoors within a 24 hour period. After checking out of the motel, I tried to hang out in my yard before the inspector arrived, but it was 93 degrees, and humid. The inspector called to explain he was running late 15 minutes, which quickly turned into 25, so the dog and I took refuge in the Jeep with engine/AC running. When the inspector arrived, I asked about the process so I could plan on where to keep the dog (since 93 was too hot to remain in the yard and we'd already been in the Jeep 90 minutes) during the 2 hours it would take. The inspector snapped that he doesn't do good with dogs and to keep it in the Jeep. * Had I been provided this information in advance, I would have explored other options and, most likely, other companies. Since he did not address the time frame question, I tried to clarify in an attempt to determine plans for the dog. I explained how both Tracy and the gentleman who confirmed the appointment, Allan? maybe, claimed the inspection takes 2 hours and begins by reading outside air quality, then inspectors and make their way indoors. I wanted to know his process and how long each area he inspects might take so to plan for the dog, and given I was told something different. Rather than explain the 2 hour inspections were for something else and that the air quality test is much quicker, he became defensive and stated, "So what, you want me to leave b/c the process won't take 2 hours". I said I was confused by the discrepancy from what I was told and how long it would actually take. I quickly realized the testing I ordered was not what was actually being done. This caused me to question what else I misunderstood. So I began to ask what specifics about his testing and methods, given I was led to believe mold, radon, and CO2 were part of this testing, as well as VOCs. He yelled at me stating I ordered an indoor air quality ONLY, and to see in my contract -- "DID YOU SIGN YOUR CONTRACT!" The inspector yelled that I did not order this or that test, & the contract clearly states which inspections I ordered. He stated radon itself is a "$150 test" and a full battery of testing, (which is what I thought I ordered) is $1500. He continued to harshly clarify costs of different testing and again threatened to leave, "you want me to leave, because you think you get all these inspections and you not getting them, I should leave then?" I replied that I did not receive any contract (he argued with me about this) & was led to believe that I was getting all the full battery of inspections, & that, if I was misled, that's not his error, or mine. But it was unprofessional to threaten to leave while I was just trying to clarify services I was paying for. The "contract" I was to have signed in advance was only emailed 31 minutes prior to the appointment. So to be yelled at for not knowing what contaminants he was testing for was unacceptable. I was emailed 3 total contracts, mold, radon, and air quality, despite his refusal to test for anything more. Upon entry and exit, the inspector continued leaving the door to my residence wide open. If I were to keep the premises closed for 24 hours for a valid test, why was the inspector okay with altering the setting in this manner? So was this testing valid? Before receiving my air quality report (5 days later), I got emails&texts prompting me to "review" this company. Instead, I called to share my experiences. The company rep insisted that no one would have told me to keep the residence "closed/sealed" for 24 hours before the testing. but no dog owner wants to motel with their dog if they can avoid it. He repeated multiple robotic, scripted apologies about having "gotten it wrong" and that perhaps they could refund my costs. I was just sent dog goodies and a reimbursement check for the motel stay. The company made amends for their missteps. read more

I would recommend Paulo for home inspections he has done a good job, Nextday inspection has 48hours turn around time for sharing the report and had to wait for 2 days after the inspection. Would have been better if the report is sent by next day as that can be used as reference in the blue taping. read more

I initially gave a more mixed review because we felt that the inspector missed a trouble spot that has led to us incurring repair expenses. However, NextDay's customer ultimately arrived at a fair resolution, they are to be commended for listening to my feedback and ultimately making our situation right. NextDay's customer service has been responsive from start to finish, the inspector was friendly and professional, and the inspection report was very detailed. Honestly this company is great for quick turnaround times for getting inspections done in a timely manner. My inspector was really good and gave me well informed information, very helpful. However, the time to receive the inspection report took way too long which was a problem for me. We had completed the inspection on Tuesday and did not receive the report until Friday. With new contracts this time is significant, thankfully there was nothing seriously wrong with the house. But the 48 hours for receiving the report came and went and was actually disappointed.
