I stopped in to get a couple of things for my garden. Just a couple houses in a sprinkler. I walk in and the kid who I assume is supposed to help find stuff is just standing there texting. Then I find what I want and I go to check out and both cashiers are on their phones I look up to see the "manager" at the little desk who is also texting. I got so disgusted by the lack of service I bought what I wanted from amazon from the parking lot. read more

I appreciate a small business in a friendly town and will generally try and use them instead of a "megastore".....with that being said, I enjoy Newtown Hardware for their knowledge and friendly service. Every time I walk in, I am asked by someone if I need help finding anything and from there I also get advice on whatever chore I am looking to complete myself and how to do it right! All the employees seem very friendly and gladly answer any questions I have no matter how stupid it may be since I'm no handyman. Great hardware store with a very large selection of everything so I hardly ever need to track something down at Lowe's or Home Depot. I see some other reviews with complaints about service and employees texting......while I can't speak to others experiences, I have ALWAYS received professional service. A great spot!! read more

Ever since I've moved nearby, Newtown Hardware has been a go-to for all of my Hardware needs. Every time I walk in, I'm greeted and asked if I need help. I'm treated with respect and given sound advice. For a small hardware store, I am always surprised that they have exactly what I need. Their employees are friendly and never treat me like a novice. From light bulbs to wood glue to Christmas tree stands, everything I have purchased there has been high quality. I prefer to shop locally, and Newtown Hardware is always my first choice. I'd choose them over any of the big box stores, where someone inexperienced like me has to wander the enormous aisles over and over again to find someone to help me. read more

The convenience and the attention to service are absolutely amazing. They have helped me so many times that at Christmas it is the only vendor that I give a gift to. When I first moved to Newtown, I enjoyed shopping this store. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. My last two visits, no one said hello or even acknowledged I was in the store. After both visits, people looked the other way as I left the store. No one even asked if I found what I came in to buy. There were at least five people standing at the front my last visit. I had to walk around one as he checked his messages on his phone. Another leaned between two gondolas, The third had his back to the store and I also had to walk around him. The only people who seemed to be dealing with customers were the cashier and a young man behind a counter at the entrance to the store. Mean while, I passed at least two customers at the back of the store looking for goods. The prior visit three clerks were in the automotive section. The two young men were helping the third clerk, a young woman planning to wash her car.. When they were done, they all left the area, ignoring myself and two other customers nearby. I frankly wonder why there is so much help in the store. No one is stocking shelves and no one is helping customers except by chance. read more
