I ordered Uber eats delivery. the Newk's University ave branch and the restaurant missed an entire pizza in our order. the Manager Devin Murphy refused to remedy the order . said he would refund the missed pizza. He refused to deliver a the pizza and find some way to get our order today. He said he had no one to deliver the pizza. I said he could order Uber eats like I did. He refused. This was my second time at a Newk's Eatery but it won't be my last. The place is Good! I love that you walk in, peruse the menu, and place your order. It's quick and easy. Then you have a seat and they bring your fresh-made order right to your table. Both times at a Newk's my wife and I were impressed with the quality, flavor and appearance of our meals. The Newk's Q with the white BBQ sauce is the bomb. The tortilla soup is very tasty as well. Additionally, the staff is friendly and prompt. That is always a big plus! I really didn't want to leave this review because I'm not really the person to complain much but I have had a number of issues with this Newk's location. First, about a month ago, I placed an order for a CAULIFLOWER pizza. The pizza came out and looked funny (more fluffy than usual) so I got the waitress' attention and asked her "Is this the cauliflower crust?" and she assured me "Yes!" But it still didn't feel right... I tried a bite and it didn't really taste like it usually does... So I got the waitress again and said "Can you double check that this is cauliflower crust? I'm allergic to gluten and need to know that it's 100% cauliflower crust" and she said "Yes, I'll go check with the cooks." She came back and said "They said it was cauliflower crust." So I trusted them. Sure enough, I was sick for about 2-3 hours after eating the pizza... guess it wasn't cauliflower crust after all. Even though I was irritated, I decided to let it go and thought maybe they just made a mistake. Second, about 2 weeks ago, I ordered a to-go order of BBQ chicken pizza on cauliflower crust with a Caesar salad (with grilled chicken). Well, they got the cauliflower crust part right this time... but there was NO chicken on either the pizza or the salad. Even though I had specifically ordered that. So no protein on anything. Lastly (tonight), I decided to let them prove me wrong and give them a 3rd chance... so I ordered delivery on the Newk's app. I got a pizza with a little rice crispy treat. The order said it was coming, then it said the driver was near. But it was never delivered; it was canceled. I was furious, so I called Newk's. I got no apology, I just got someone who said that it "wasn't their fault." Then I asked why it was canceled in the first place, and they couldn't give me an answer. I understand that it's a 3rd party associated with the delivery, but maybe Newk's should at least require them to give the restaurant a reason for cancellation. In conclusion, the management here is obviously having issues. The food is always great, when they get it right, but the communication needs some major work. I will only go to the Newk's on Jackson Avenue instead of this one from now on... read more

Normally great experience at Newks. Today I ordered on automated phone line . Order said completed. I arrive at newks. No order. Cashier said the order probably didn't go through. Could be over at the other store. I said I didn't order from the other store this is only location I've ever ordered from...I showed her the number. She says that doesn't look like this stores phone number. Really? I asked for other locations number. She says she doesn't have it. So I google it. Another automated line. In the scheme of things this isn't terrible but I just can't believe this happened at Newks. There are 10,000 other choices of restaurants to choose from in Oxford MS (I exaggerate), so stepping up on customer service is needed here. Update, I placed the order again inside the store on University Avenue. I asked the cashier to bring it out to me curbside as my granddaughter was in my van waiting on me. I set my timer for 10 minutes, which is normally how long it takes to pizzas to get ready. So I went back inside when no pizza was delivered. The cashier, the manager and other kitchen staff were standing around talking, and my pizza was sitting over on a shelf behind the cash Register . When I walked in the cashier saw me and looked a little startled, and handed me my pizza. Believe it, I couldn't make this up. read more

I know people who own the franchise in Texas and while getting my son off to college, I stopped in. A few hours later, I was sick on the tortilla soup. Fantastic for quick service dining!!! Great variety and quality. They have a nice offering of options and for each option some cool and delicious recipes. I love this place it's miles and miles above big box restaurants of the same genre (Panera, jason's deli, etc) deciding what to get was such a chore but decided on the half sandwich and soup. So glad I did!! I had the Italian which was fantastic and the pepper jack and crawfish soup which was on level with fine bisque I've had in very high end restaurants. Will definitely be a return customer. Oh and the best part is the complimentary little package of breadsticks,condiment options, and the reusable drink cups to take home. read more

Wow I have been to this restaurant in many different cities, and usually I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants, but this location is fantastic. And the new Pork "Q" Sandwich is absolutely delicious. On the Sunday afternoon I was eating here, the restaurant was packed, but my order was taken quickly and I found a nice spot to sit outside on the patio. Ordered online at the Jackson Avenue store. App has improved but service/quality has tanked. Ordered my 3 salads each with mixed greens. Got romaine. Ordered salmon for a protein. Got no salmon. Pointed it out to the young lady at the counter who wordlessly handed it off to the kitchen staff with an eye roll. When I pointed out the salad was also missing black olives, she rudely told me " we don't have black olives". Apparently neither do they have mixed greens or arugula or onions. I understand "supply chain issues". But that does not explain the lack of communication and rudeness. I will say the young man in the kitchen that the cashier handed the problem to was polite. They said oh, it comes with a side, I said ok, I'll have a Caesar salad, then they charged me $11.42. I don't understand how that happens, and being a bit intoxicated I didn't question It, but now that I'm sober it makes it seem they are tryin to pull one over on all the college kids. Newks has some great fresh salads and sandwiches for lunch, dinner or mid afternoon snack. The service is usually prompt, and the employees are nearly always cordial. This is not like any fast food joint you've visited. I can guarantee that. Order at the bar, grab a drink (they even have beer!), and have a seat. The folks behind the counter give you a number and they serve you your food. This is wicked convenient! The sales are delicious. I usually have the Southern chicken salad, and it is almost always wonderful! There are two locations in Oxford, and no matter which one you visit the service and food are good. Had some good veggie pizza and sandwiches here. Sandwich had grilled portobellos and bell peppers with pesto sauce and goat cheese on toasted white roll. Now, if they added a nice artisan bread instead of the generic white roll, it would've been truly outstanding. Still, it was very very good for a fast food place even with the generic roll. During move-in weekend I had no food, and I was coming from California, so I had no idea what or where anything was. Newks was my go-to, super fast and close to campus, it is perfect for the on-the-go meal. Last week after a long day in a meeting, I stopped by University Newk's to get a piece of their strawberry cake. I lived in Oxford 7 years and had on occasion eaten this luscious dessert. I was SSSOOOOOO disappointed. The young man took a piece from the fridge, it was in a plastic container---I went back to my hotel room and boy was I in for a surprise. It was awful! It tasted like it had been in that fridge for a LONG time---it smelled like everything else in there and tasted pretty much the same. That is a shame for a $5 piece of cake.
