I travel for my job, so I have the pleasure of eating at some pretty wonderful restaurants all over the U.S.. With that said, I can honestly say that I did not expect to have one of my very favorite meals of the year come from Oxford, MS - but here we are. Every bit of the meal was a culinary delight - including the refreshing mocktail (dew point), the incredible miso caesar salad, and the tuna.. oh. my. gosh. The TUNA. I wish I could explain the symphony of flavors that I experienced. But it wouldn't do it justice. Trust and believe it was amazing. I also loved sitting at the bar - the staff was a delight. From the hostess to the bartenders to the waitstaff. Just a lovely group of people. I will be back. read more

Honestly, one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in. The service was great. We had a smoked oyster platter for an appetizer and I had the smoked ribeye and it was big and absolutely delicious with the truffle fries. Had a banana cream cake with a Bischoff cookies layer for dessert. My only knock was the duck fat old-fashioned. It was really not enjoyable and waitress could tell so she replaced it with a regular old-fashioned. I honestly cannot see any reason anyone would do that to whiskey. The ambience was really neat old wood walls and a very big bar. You will likely need a reservation if you go here. read more

The Veal Picatta is to die for - as are the garlic oysters! We love sitting at the bar, it's a small intimate fabulous atmosphere. Whether you're on a date night or hanging with friends Can't go wrong at SoLa! read more

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The menu was creative and the food excellent. Wine list was also legit.

The po boy was very good. However, the menu is a little off base for me. I appreciate the artistry and twists, but there's basically nothing here for a picky-ish eater. The service was really good. It is definitely on the pricier side. We had lunch here on a game day, and there were hardly any people. It has a very modern look and feel to it. read more

We held a rehearsal dinner here. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was perfect, and Erika and her team were phenomenal!

Lynn was our server and she was amazing! Food was great. It was a great experience and we will be back next week!

Beware. This restaurant charges you a 3% fee for using your credit card OR your debit card- and charges tax on it to boot. No indication online or on the menu- surprise! Wines are 3-4 times wholesale. Bring your money bag. We won't be back. read more

Food and Service was prefect! I had the Ribeye and was very tastie and cooked prefect. Others had fish special and they enjoyed a lot. Great restaurant and yes when back in Oxford plan to go back. I recommend this restaurant read more

My wife has been wanting to try this place for awhile. We decided to visit this restaurant on 2/13 for our Valentine's dinner. Every time I see a burger on the menu and they say they will cook it medium rare I order it. It was cooked to perfection my wife had the short rib and it was excellent as well. Not many entree offers but all were great options. I will definitely be back. read more

Ramen on Thursdays are always a great time! Boudin Tater Tots are delicious only wish to get more than 4 balls for the price of $17. The jajangmyeon (Korean black bean noodles) were a bit too salty for my palate, but flavor was ok for the fusion take on it. Cocktails are always great too. read more

Wow this place is amazing, Aaron was our bartender and went above and beyond. The atmosphere is a 10 the food is a 10 and the customer service is a 10. My husband and I came here looking for a sip of wine and walked away with our new favorite spot in Oxford. read more

Vietcajun Crab + Oyster dish - absolutely phenomenal! The oysters were fried perfectly with a briny flavor that meshed with the crab salad. I was hungry, but I can't remember the last time that I've had a dish this well done. Have it with a cold Pilsner/lager. read more

We stopped in as they were opening on a Friday evening as we had missed lunch. The staff was so friendly and informative. The food was wonderful. Great take on a TOT. The duck was wonderful. Loved the dumplings. Drinks were great. read more

One of the most underrated eats in Oxford, MS. Erika the chef is so creative and often updates the menu with local ingredients. From fresh fish to royal red pasta, there's usually something for everyone. However there are dishes that are "wild", but usually are the best ones with explosions of flavor. You can literally taste the love and time put into everything. My favorites usually include Chinese dishes with southern flares. (I'm looking at you ducky dumplings and kimchi tots) They're so creative and always keep me coming back for more. I can't have a favorite bc I always have to try something new. ****Ramen Thursday is not to be missed. It is exceptional and there's nothing like it in Oxford or Mississippi quite honestly. **** The staff is always helpful and super friendly. The bar staff whips up great cocktails. They often have drink and food specials on week nights. Wednesday sgetti & wine for $10 was always the move. Besides ramen Thursday's of course read more

In town for the Ole Miss/Bama game and had a wonderful dinner at SoLa both nights. We had great service both at the bar and seated at a booth. Highly recommend the Texas Toothpicks, Brussels, Grouper (special), Short Ribs (also special) and Truffle Pasta. And why not finish with the Key Lime Pie?!? The chef is amazing. We will surely be back for our next visit to Oxford. read more

Great holiday drinks with fun tongue-in-cheek named! Grilled oysters were fantastic. Super staff! We will be back!

I really wanted to love this place. It's cute and small and the food always looks so interesting online in photos. But alas. It was disappointing. The place is small which is fine and cozy. But the lack of sound dampening materials make it extremely loud. A space can be lively without being painfully loud. We started with a cocktail order. Mine did not arrive until after the entrees and after I asked the entree server to please check on it. My starter Cesar salad was much too wet and had an odd flavor. Too mayonnaisey? Or something? I don't know. It wasn't bright and delicious as Cesar dressing usually is. It was heavy and heavy handed. My husband got the mushroom ravioli with crab and shrimp. It was oddly flavorless. Bland. The toasted bread crumbs gave it a sandy mouth feel which is off putting for a seafood dish. Is it the breadcrumbs? Or is the seafood not clean? Who can tell. My steak was delicious. They recommend medium which is past my usual preference of medium rare but I accepted their recommendation. Alas it was more well done so much more cooked than I like. The flavor was good however. We weren't super impressed with the meal overall or the overlooked cocktail. I will add when it arrived, there was no apology for its late arrival. It just arrived. I did not even drink it all because I'm not a fan of chugging a cocktail with my entree. So it felt like wasted spending. We expected more from a place with a limited menu. read more

I can't stop bobbing my head to the music streaming to complete this review. Oxford, MS offers several eateries and Sola should be one of the top selections. If you like variety, curry and duck in a dumpling....you must visit Sola. There's plenty of street parking and room to walk around the square at your leisure before and after. Upon your arrival, put on your readers and "Check the Chalkboard" for their extra eats/specials not featured on the menu. Thanks Cole for helping me select my meal and your wonderful customer service. I am looking forward to my next visit. read more

Crappy service from the get go. We went a few weeks ago. It took forever to get anyone to come to the table and then the wine took forever. They brought out the food and they'd brought my mom the wrong order. Oh, and they brought out the food and we had no napkin or utensils. They put in for her order. My aunt and I were done when they brought hers out. The bill comes; they never addressed it; and they'd discounted her meal by 50%. We asked for a comp, and they said no. 6 drinks, oysters and deserts, 3 entrees, and they wouldn't comp the entree they messed up. I'll never go back. Sadly for them my aunt who goes to Oxford on biz often and is an Ole Miss alum won't ever either. Skip it. read more

SoLa has become a near weekly date night spot for us. We normally ALWAYS hit up ramen night (Thursdays). The specials are always changing and I haven't had anything that wasn't delicious and adventurous as far as Oxford food goes. We usually go during happy hour to get $5 margs. Last night in particular, tried their new menu and had the Kimchi fries (amazing - sweet potato fries!), catfish (comfort food and a huge piece of catfish), and salmon pasta (omg so flavorful and rich). Couldn't recommend this place more read more

First time back since the change from the Wine Bar, Had a friend I served with overseas in town an he was looking for a great meal. We had speciality cocktails, heavy apps and entrees. I had the marrow noodles and he the pork chop, both dishes were flavorful and presented very well, our waitress was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The drinks were crafted and mixed very well. If you are tired of trying to find a special dinner spot, come to SoLa. You won't have any of those issues such as entrees before apps, bottomed out drinks or a server than doesn't know the menu or a dishes ingredients. Here you'll find professionalism and a great night of satisfaction. Be sure to check the back wall for specials written in chalk. read more

SOLA was an amazing brunch experience. The food was so good. It was a great atmosphere and a waiter was great. I will definitely be back!

As always, SoLa (formerly known as The Wine Bar), impresses me. The food and the service is the best, the drinks are phenomenal, and the atmosphere is fun and cute, yet nice. I went yesterday evening with my best friend, who is vegan. Not only did they have vegan options, she brought out a vegan menu for my friend. It was great food. She enjoyed a delicious pasta, while I had the pork chop this time. Everything I've eaten here has been delicious. read more

I've been in twice. The first time even though the place was empty they didn't want to seat a party of one. The second time I went back with friends and asked for a table towards the back and they said no even though it was empty. They have the wrong menu online and a happy hour menu that they no longer do. The server had an attitude even when my friend simply asked for a glass of ice. Server was always rude. The food was not good. I'm amazed this place is still in business with how many good places there are in Oxford. Don't waste your money and go somewhere else where the people will be nice and the food better. read more

Arrived for our 8:00 reservations 10 minutes early and were told we'd be seated soon. Waited until 8:45 and told them we had been waiting for almost an hour and they said "Okay, sorry." One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had and I wanted to love this place after hearing it was "the best restaurant in Oxford." The least apologetic staff I've ever come in contact with. I would love to give them the chance to redeem themselves read more

Very pleased with our first visit to SoLa! The staff was very friendly. I like the restaurant because it is different than the others in town. They have Noodle dishes with Italian or Asian flare. The Thai Grilled shrimp salad is great. We will be back! read more

Underwhelming. The quality of the food does not warrant the amount that you'll end up paying.

must try the truffle pasta!!! love the service at this place everytime i go! They always have very good specials as well

The first words out of my mouth before I even had a chance to swallow my first bite were "holy shit". The truffle bone marrow noodles were AMAZING. Definitely rich in flavor but unbelievably delicious. My boyfriend is from Sweden and, although he's very adventurous with food, he's very judgmental. If he raves about something, then it's safe to say it's amazing. My Swedish boyfriend is a burger snob and he asked me to make it very clear to everyone reading this that the Sola Burger wow'd him in a way that many burger restaurants fail to do. And Sola isn't even a burger joint. The chef, Erika Lipe, has a way with fresh ingredients and flavors that turn something often ordinary into something memorable. He's been on the hunt for a great American style burger for him to have his family try when they fly over from Sweden later this year. He said very confidentially after the first bite, "this is the place". The first time I took him here was for brunch. He's not much of a breakfast eater but he did not shut up the entire time about how great his meal was while we were there for brunch. Just another example of something as generic as breakfast turned into a mouthful of stimulated tastebuds. Customer service was impeccable as always. You don't feel rushed to finish and the staff is super knowledgeable about the food and drinks creation process so they're able to answer any and all questions you might have. VERY accommodating, which is exactly what Oxford needs more of given the current climate of greedy, incompetent bureaucratic officials. We are very much looking forward to our next trip to Oxford so that we can try more of the dinner menu at Sola!!!! read more
