Aside from the food, which has always been delicious, I wanted to leave a note of sincere appreciation to Phil, for his over the top customer service. I was caring for my 2 year old niece today ( who has strep throat) and called Newks to place a to go order. I spoke with Phil, and asked if there was any way someone could bring the order out to me so that I wouldn't have to get her out and bring her in with me. Normally I wouldn't expect a restaurant that doesn't have curbside to go service to accommodate such a request, especially during the lunch rush, but I thought I'd ask anyways. Phil told me to give them a call when we arrived and they would help me out. When I called and asked for Phil, they told me he was the owner and sent him out with the food. We've been in the past, but will NEVER be back! We've gone for the reason the kids love the Mac and Cheese. On our last visit, we walked in noticing a hairy dog. My first thought was a guide/service dog. As the kids ate (I couldn't) I just didn't see any characteristic that would fit that type dog. Also, there was nothing on the dog that would reflect a service animal. I gave the restaurant the "benefit of the doubt" but being it bothered me so much, I said something to the manager. Her response was "it shouldn't be a concern of yours". She went on to say, if or if not it was a service dog, the other party was there before us so they had priority. read more

Newks is always a fun place to go for a casual lunch or dinner. They have a wide variety of meals that will please just about anyone's appetite. Their portions are large so even the hungriest man should be satisfied. My favorite sandwich is the Newk's Q which is a toasted baguette with a spicy white barbecue sauce and shredded chicken. So good! Their salads are pretty great as well. The black and bleu is my go to. I'm a HUGE fan of their sweet tea as you can get sweetened tea with splenda! They give you a fun to go cup too! I haven't ever tried their pizza, but from what I have heard they are pretty standard, nothing special but overall taste great. They always have a few cakes or sweet treats to try. My favorites are the peanut butter and chocolate rice krispie treat and the strawberry cake YUM! The restaurants themselves are pretty much the same from location to location. NEVER AGAIN... Our business likes to order here because they have a good selection of sandwiches, soup and salad. We've ordered to-go here at least 5-6 times in the past year and I'm just done with it, no more. Every single time!!!!!!!!!! They always screw up the order in some manner. Today I ordered online for 6 people. They screwed up on 3 orders and a 4th was poorly made. Even when I went in person to pick up the order I asked the register guy to please double check the order, he had another girl do it. She looked at the slip and took half the items out to confirm. She went to hand me the bag I asked, is the mustard on the side - she looked through the bag again, didnt see it and got me one. I got back to the office and immediately noticed they forgot 1 of the 3 bags of chips. Started sorting the items and noticed our caesar salad for $5.79 that we had to pay an extra $6.59 to add grilled salmon - the salmon was completely missing. I wasnt going to worry about the chips because it never fails they ALWAYS miss at least 1 side item, but when we have to pay more for a meat than the salad itself I was going to drive back and get it. Gave everyone their food, called the store and drove back. Once in the store the guy told me sorry they forgot your salmon, for some reason the fish was put in a separate container and they forgot to put it in the bag. When I got in my car I looked in the bag to see the salmon, a tiny thin strip, was very burnt along the whole bottom. Say the fish was 1.5" tall, at least 1/4" of the fish was burnt. We had a client waiting in the office to start our meeting, I didnt have time to wait on Newks to cook a new piece. If anyone knows the area around this location, especially at lunch time, traffic is not so pleasant to drive through. Requested the order be ready by 11:20am and it was already 11:59am by the time I was headed back to the office a 2nd time. When I got back to the office, the lady that asked for mustard on the side told me - the reason they probably didnt have the mustard on the side was because they soaked my sandwich with it. By the time I got to sit down and eat my own salad, I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad - granted the tuna was at least cooked a lot letter than the salmon, but my spring mix was very disappointing. Not sure how a restaurant that is always as busy as this location is cant have fresh salad stocked... I had to throw away most of my spring mix because it was very brown and wilted. I'm so tired of incompetent people that dont care enough to read. Never again will we order here, something always goes wrong, even when you're standing right in front of them while they double check the order, its still wrong. Priced out a competitor for the same items, could have saved us $12, time, gas and a lot of headaches. read more

I have never had anything I did not care for here... I am admittedly a "stick to something you find and love" type of diner so I have only tried a handful of menu items that deviate from my favorite: BLACK AND BLEU SALAD (sooo good!) Great roast beef slices, gorgonzola cheese crumble/shreds, pecans, purple onion, pear tomatoes and excellent house bleu cheese dressing--incidentally, if you cannot imagine from description this is a fairly pungent dish and certainly not a first-date meal (depending on intentions I suppose...lol) the soups are awesome, if you're into bread theirs is fresh baked and delicious on the many sandwiches they serve, the kids meals are nifty (i've ordered for a light lunch once or twice... shhh) place can be a zoo at lunch hour since Vanderbilt Medical extension Dr. offices are all around area, so do order ahead if you're in a hurry or take advantage of "grab and go" pre-made corner, cakes are super yummy and definitely fresh daily... Really if you're in mood for somewhere with offerings similar to Panera this place is FAR SUPERIOR and much much fresher. read more

I'm so wishing I could give this place one more star 4 on food....or take one away! (2 on cleanliness). The food was great, fresh, and tasty. The Resturant was lacking in the overall cleanliness department. We had to search out an acceptably clean table without food debris or sticky cup ring on it. This was accomplished after looking at 7/8 tables. The next issue was the cloth covered chairs. Holy moly batman they were stained and down right DIRTY. my husband finally just placed several layers of napkins on the chairs to make them at least seem cleaner. At the end of the meal he stated, "For me, this is a one and done." This is too bad as the food was excellent. read more

The salads are fresh and the menu is generally healthy. The service for people with food allergies is inconsistent. Our first visit was very positive....the manager knew his ingredients and he worked with me to make sure the food they served was safe. The second visit was much less positive...the manager was unsure and we left. The third visit was so-so....I was not confident eating the food delivered. Since 3% of the population has serious food allergies, and since they offer such a fresh menu, they're missing an opportunity. read more

Food is always delicious. The line can stretch of the door but moves fast. You will wait a minute for food but it's always good. I recommend the "q" sandwich and potato soup. Their Caesar salad is excellent as well. read more

Busy parking lot, but the food is great and the prices are not bad either! Everything is fresh. I've eaten twice and got a sandwich the first time and a salad the second time and they were both excellent. I got Newks Q which sounded good. They said they had their signature barbecue sauce with shredded chicken. It actually does have a good flavor but each half had only ONE thin slice of chicken. Mainly bun. No meat. Had so much potential. Sad. read more

Filthy. Went at 11:00 a.m., highchairs were all disgusting, covered in dried sticky food, which is not uncommon, but the adult chairs which have fabric seat pads were also all stained, covered with sticky nasty spots. I tried 12 different chairs. Food crumbs all over the floor, nothing wiped down. This was at 11:00, just after they opened. Food was ok. I have been going there occasionally for a few years and it has declined. I will never go back. read more

I return to nukes today, after taking our year long hiatus due to excessively high prices. I went at 2:30, so I would assume it would be well past the lunch crowd time. But it took over 15 minutes to get my order as much of the people in the back we're working on catering orders. When I placed my order for my sandwich, I was asked which side I would like, I asked which were available, and the cashier told me several. I picked mac & cheese, and then when I got my bill I was shocked to see I was charged $2.75 extra. I stated he did not tell me that it would be extra, and I did not want that. He called over the manager who said he would void it, and asked me which side I would like. I asked which sides are included, and he told me chips, coleslaw, and pasta salad. I told him I would take chips. Then I was shocked when I looked at the bill for the second time and was charged for the chips. When you're already paying nine dollars for a sandwich, I would think chips would be included. Especially since I asked which were included. If you're going to present people with side, you should be upfront about the fact that they cost extra. read more
