I didn't come here for a wedding, but we just came to rent a limo for our prom. At first it was a not-so-bad deal. They don't actually have limos to rent, but they just get limos from other places. It seemed like a good deal at the time because we got a nice hummer limo and and our agreement was for 10 hours. However, the actual limo company called and said if we would like to upgrade to a party bus. I called and called and called back and they wouldn't answer. I left five messages telling them I do not want a party bus, I just want a limo. Guess what? They came with a party bus. We had plans to tour the city after prom ended but because it was a party bus, they can only get us from point A to point B (exact words from the driver). Also, our agreement was cut short. We only got the bus for 8 hours instead, which is a big difference. We ended up having to take taxis back because we were two hours short! We also did our hair and makeup here before prom. The makeup was way too much. They made us up as if we were doing a photoshoot, so the foundation was too light and they even put in fake eyelashes for some of us which was too much and we ended up taking them off. In the end we looked like geishas and I would've preferred doing my own makeup. Our hair was pretty well-done, but it wasn't anything spectacular. All in all, stay away from this place! read more

The owner probably has been here doing business for 35+ years, 3 generations in my family hence I returned per my mom's recommendation to get a Chinese traditional qi-pao/cheongsam August 2015. They did my grandma's makeup/hair for my mom's wedding and my mom rented her wedding gowns here 35 years ago. (+) They did a good job, finished a custom-made dress in under 2 months, which cost $350 total that I felt was reasonable for NY. (My friend had one done elsewhere, not as good for $250 in 2013) We also rented the a men's top for my husband, which cost $150 for 3 days. A bit pricy, but it's once in a lifetime and we didn't want to buy one that he would not wear again. (-) The stars are lost because they are VERY pushy. They pushed my mom to rent a dress she didn't need and asked for a $200 deposit! The next day, my mom decided she would buy her own dress for the same price and they did not refund :( They were not specific that the deposit was non-refundable so lesson learned, do not deposit money unless you're 100% sure. You can make an appointment but they also accept walk-ins. Cash preferred. read more

This place doesn't even deserve the one star but I couldn't vote for less. I walked into the shop in April of this year looking for a Chinese dress for our wedding in August. I was just looking around when the pushy sales lady kept insisting that I buy a dress today so I can get the best possible deal. After turning her down a couple of times, I eventually gave in and ordered a dress that day. So the sales lady's persistence prevailed and she made a sale that day. Good for the sales lady right? She proceeds to tell me that it will take 2 months to make and they will call me when its done. Last week, when my mom called the shop to ask what the status was. They told my mom the dress is here and we just needs to come in and try it on. So I walk in and the sales lady says this and I am NOT making this up... "A black girl came in and stole your dress!" Shocked, I ask what happened? The sales lady says "A black girl came into the store yesterday and took your dress, but I can sell you this blue dress for $100..." Are you kidding me? The lady was trying to convince me, that someone came in and stole that 1 dress? She offered no solution and made nothing but excuses that they can make me another one, but the material I chose was no longer available. It was so unbelievable. And she didn't even show the video to me....... Brides, wedding couples... PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE! They are unprofessional, unreliable and RACIST!!! My wedding is less than 3 weeks away and now I have to run around trying to find a replacement..... read more

WORSE OF THE WORSE! I wished I yelped this place before coming in. Like everyone said, the moment you step foot in the store its a trap! Pushy sales, high pitch her service, and throws in fees that you never knew and wanted. She does things on her own without your consent then proceed to charge you. Worse experience but lesson learned not to trust people like her. She talks your ears off so you think she is providing the best without having you stress because she will plan everything for you. But after all that she throws you fees and accuse you of wanting it. Don't trust her and her business. Its the biggest scam and makes your forever memorable day a living hell! So my wife and I got married this year at Queens Botanical Garden, right across from this place. We figured it was conveniently located so we gave it a shot. Frankly, I wish we hadn't. The owner of the place (which I won't mention by name) is extremely pushy and aggressive in her sales pitch. Although she is fairly flexible with pricing and payment options, which is a plus especially on a budget, she always wants to tack on an extra and will aggressively peruse it. We ended up doing just about everything with them, limo, photographer and tuxedos. Lets start with tuxedos. As many times as I brought in some of my groomsmen, it seemed they just couldn't seem to get the measurements right. After finally strong arming them I managed to get them to give me exactly what I wanted and they got it done right. The limo. They convinced us to get the BMW X6. Which in all fairness was beautiful except on the day of the limo was having trouble with the AC and it was nearly 90 outside. No red carpet was afforded to us as promised, NO CHAMPAGNE!, and no drinks aside from room temp water and sodas. WTF was that?! The Photography. The photographer we had originally requested was for some reason changed on us at the last minute. To make up for that they offered us 2 other photographers which were slightly less experienced. The photographer we had chosen finally showed up when we arrived at the reception hall which meant we now had 3 photographers. Sounds good right? We thought so too, until we went to pick up the pictures an realized that out of the thousands of pictures taken yet only showed us what 1 of them took. Limiting out choices. Then they tell us that we would need to pay additional for picking pics from those other photographers. Are you kidding me? You switch my photographer and then ask me to pay more to get pics from other photographers that YOU volunteered? After some stern talking to, I got them to show me some other pictures to increase my selection of pics to choose from. Currently I am trying to view more pictures that they have. To be fair, the pictures that we have seen did come out very nice. Overall I wasn't very impressed with this business, the lack of professionalism is astounding and frankly I have no clue how this place still runs. On the brighter side of things, if you have a tight budget or would prefer to be able to "layaway" some things this may be the place to do that. Just remember that they will try to sell you everything, be stern and hold your ground and more than likely you will get what you want. read more

I wish I could give less than 1 star. Do yourself a favor and don't bother shopping here. All the bad reviews are correct. My Mother-in-law was friends with the owner and I wanted to get a traditional Chinese wedding dress. The women was pushing, rude and refused to speak English when I came for dress fittings. It was 1 week before my wedding and my dress did not arrive. When I called I was hung up on or yelled at. I know this women speaks english because the day I paid her she was talking to me just fine. The dress did not fit well. I had to come back every day leading up to my wedding. And it fell apart on the hanger the day before my wedding and my mom stayed up all night long fixing it the night before my wedding. The dress wasn't cheap. This is how you treat friends? The owner, Nancy, is extremely aggressive and pushy. She's a sneaky snake! Don't bother coming here!! My sister bought a traditional Chinese dress which was overpriced with the alterations. The final product was too small and on the wedding day the zipper broke and split in the middle. By the end of the night the groom had to cut her out of the dress. My mom's dress! Extremely overpriced with alterations also! Nancy showed her some shoes to buy. My mom wanted the more comfortable one, but Nancy pushed her to buy another pair that was more expensive and "matched" with one of their purses. My mom had already bought her own purse and so refused their purse, but Nancy continued to push her into buying it by threatening that if she doesn't buy it now then it'll be sold fast and won't be able to get a "discounted" price. Nancy continued to even write the purse price on my mom's receipt when my mom had already said NO a dozen times! Nancy kept showing my mom the "matching purse" and had her wear it with the dress. Hair and Makeup day. They offered my mom complementary hair and makeup. My mom told the hair dresser she wanted a natural look for her short hair. Apparently "natural" means over doing the hairspray until you see many white specs. She looked as if the wind blew her hair too hard that it stuck up. 1. We were promised to have our indoor and outdoor pictures taken all in one day - we paid a big deposit 3 months before the scheduled appointment. However, the owner canceled on us last minute saying that we could only take indoor pictures, because we did not get a license to take pictures outdoor. So, why did the owner make this promise earlier, and why didn't she say no earlier so we could get the license? I believe that she just wanted us to purchase a more expensive package from her, and figured that we would be stuck with her if she canceled on us last minute. 2. We were promised to have our wedding gown custom-made. Instead, she just adjusted the size of a sample dress and gave it to us as if it were custom-made. We later found out about it, so she unwillingly made a new dress for us. If we didn't find out about it with the help of some experienced friends/family, we would have been cheated again. 3. We were promised to have our wedding picture album made by March, but she did not actually deliver the album until June. The wedding pictures were taken in December of the year before, so this is just absolutely amazing and ridiculous that it took her such a long time to turn it around. We were told that the album would be ready in March, April, May, but it was not ready until June. 4. The shop is a Visa/MasterCard merchant, and she did take credit cards from many customers. However, she refused to let us use our credit card even though we had already paid over 80% of the total balance in cash. With a credit score of over 750, I felt discriminated and cheated. All she wanted was to avoid paying the credit card company a transaction fee and reporting this sale to the IRS. read more

This doesn't even deserve 1 star, but had to put a rating there. I had to sign up for an account just so I can warn people how bad this place is. I wish I had read the reviews before I picked this place. My mom and I checked out 3 other places and this was the last place on my list. First they had their doors locked and the sales lady, Nancy told me they were closed and it was for security. She was all nice and showed up special deals. It wasn't so special I showed her what other stores were doing for the same price. She said no problem, she can match that and more, which included 60 photos on a CD. We told her we were going to think about it and come back. She insisted we check out the dress. We did, she said no problem, we'll make you look so pretty. We'll give you the best photographers on my list. Trust me, my word is as good as my brand of 35 years. So we thought she was pretty convincing so we put a deposit down and scheduled it for 9AM 1 month later. One week before my photo shoot, my mom called to scheduled a time to select the dresses. She was like no problem, we'll tailor it before you come. She said come a bit later is okay, maybe 10. We were like you scheduled it for 9, then she said no problem, around that time is fine. The day before the photo shoot, we called to confim the time. She said you have to bring the full payment. So we stopped by to talk about it. We said we'll pay you tomorrow when we come on full. She said it has to be cash. I was like you said I can use credit card. She said yes if you pay a month in advance. I said why didn't you tell me before. I said don't worry about your money just make sure everything is ready tomorrow. She said come around noon. I was like WTF, you said 9, then 10, and now noon. I have my husband schedule to come in at 9. She said you can sleep in and eat lunch and then come in and the photographer is coming in from Philly. I thought okay fine, it was suppose to snow so the photographer might be delayed in the morning. The next day I came in at noon, paid them, and I started my make-up. Then come to find the sales lady, who is also the owner (though she says she's not), is also my freakin' photographer. Since I already paid her and she won't give back my money I ended up doing the photo shoot. I find out from my hair lady that she was doing a photo shoot in the morning for a friend's daughter. Now I'm pissed, but I have to finish taking my photo. Now I can't even get my CD with my pictures or any part of my picture package. The picture were not even good. I was just there a couple of weeks ago to look for my daughter's communion dress. I found a nice, decent dress but the size is small for her. The owner insisted that she can make the dress bigger for an additional charge. I was hesitant at first but since I don't have enough time to look for a dress I then agreed to order the dress that day. First, the dress she showed me had a tag on it and a label of a well-known company that makes children's gowns and dresses, so I know that it's a brand new dress that I am getting. After a week, the owner called and told me that the dress is finished and I can have my daughter try it on. We went there but the owner wasn't there only her assistant. When I saw the dress, I was disappointed and became skeptical because it doesn't look new at all to me - the color's dirty white, there were some missing beads, and there were loose stitches on the dress. (I had a feeling that it was an old or used dress since they also do gowns and suits for rentals).Also, the fitting was not good. So I told all my complaints to the assistant but she kept telling me that it was a brand new dress and they were going to fix it. When we came back the second time to pick it up, I got really frustrated because this time, the dress was a mess - the fit was so terrible, the dress' original style was gone and it looked even dirtier. The owner was there but she was busy talking to another customer so I talked to the assistant and she told me that they can adjust it again with no additional charge. I was really, really upset and wanted to talk to the owner. When she came, I told her I wasn't happy with the dress and in a very sarcastic way told me that she doesn't have the time to talk to me, how rude! So I told her I have the right to complain because I already paid for it and it didn't come out what I expected. My daughter and I left the store very frustrated. Now, I have to buy a new dress for my daughter. I will never, ever go back to this place again. The owner is a crook. I will quote another reviewer who said "I'm only giving them one star because I couldn't pick less" Nancy - who is the owner and the "pushy lady" that everyone speaks of - is an absolute nightmare. Being pushy is the least of her problems. Aside from the fact that you can't understand one word that comes out of her mouth, she is down right crazy. When you refuse to get the deal she is offering, she will literally start yelling at you. I was there to get a brides maid dress and when I suggested I wasnt getting anything and leaving - she literally grabbed me by my arm and wouldnt let me leave, showing me all other dresses she had in the store. Her store is absolutely disgusting. It is dirty and it looks like a storage. Unfortunately, based on the prices she was giving me - I folded and gave her some business. But, the old saying is definitely true - you get what you pay for. She promised anything I inquired about - and delivered on none of those promises. Took 3 weeks longer than promised to get me the dress, promised that she'd include my hair and make up the day of the wedding (when i called to make an appt she said her "make up girl is not there that day") and then had the nerve to try to charge me more money than agreed upon when my dress finally arrived. (She stated that because i kept calling and asking, she had to pay rush shipping on it, so she tried to charge me an extra $100!!!) This place and this woman are a nightmare. Avoid at all costs!!! i got my wedding pictures done here and it was a fasico from when we walked in. they promised me all this stuff to get my money and i fell for it thinking it was a great price. they gave studio time to come into do our wedding pictures telling us we can use the studio, when the day came and i told them i wanted to use the staircase like how they promised me, i was told that it was a downstairs studio and that we were only setup for upstairs. then when we took pictures they took a bunch of pictures with the owners in the shots getting me ready. those pictures with the owner in the shots were the options were we had to chose from. they didnt even take enough pictures of us that they put those pictures as a option for me to pick from!!! they made alot of empty promises and when i told them how i wanted the pictures to be cut for the album they said they couldnt do it when it was very simple cropping, then it took forever for us to get our pictures back, the pictures we picked were not the right ones so we had to repick them 2 times once on the computer then once again i had to recheck it when they did the design be they did the layout wrong, becuase i realised the pictures didnt matchup to how i picked it out.and i just had to keep coming back, over and over again they took forever to get my album done when i paid them up front! i dont recommend them at all. read more
