I rented a hanbok from hanbok story and I was completely impressed. Their selection of Korean traditional wear is second to none and the owner will work with you to find something that is suitable for your needs. I found her to be kind and patient with me as I went in there not really knowing what I wanted. I was looking for a dress to rent for my wedding and tried on many different dresses. Maybe because of their selection it feels overwhelming, but again the service here was really excellent. In the end, I was thoroughly pleased with my hanbok selection and got married last month wearing it! I will be back in the future for special occasions and highly recommend this business to anyone who is looking to get a hanbok.
I had such a lovely experience with Hanbok Story for my wedding last month! I had a western style ceremony but wanted to wear a hanbok for Paebaek which we performed in front of our guests during the reception. My mother-in-law and I both rented our hanboks from the store, and had great service each time. The rental hanboks were clean, comfortable, and in great condition, and there were so many different types, colors, and designs to choose from. The owner is super friendly and welcoming, and the whole process of reserving a hanbok, pickup, and return all went very smoothly. This was one of the easiest parts of my wedding planning process, and I highly recommend Hanbok Story for anyone in the NYC area. P.S. Their new location is also very conveniently located next to a LIRR station, so travel from Penn Station is very easy for anyone living in Manhattan. Prices are very affordable!
I rented a baby handbook for my niece's 100th day. The quality and detail of the hanbok were great and everyone loved it. The shipping was fast and the price was very reasonable. Thank you, Hanbok Story!
Absolutely beautiful korean traditional dress! Everybody said looks pretty. and I felt really good the dress was so clean and comfortable. and owner took care of picking dress and accessories. thank you and I definitely come back to choose Korean party hanbok again.
My experience with Hanbok Story was beyond excellent. My daughter's wedding was about a month away and i needed a hanbok because it was my daughter's special request for me and the groom's mother to wear hanboks for the ceremony. I had a phone consultation first and the owner was very kind, professional, transparent and took time to answer all my questions including an estimated price. When I visited Hanbok Story for my appointment, she gave me her full attention in discussing my customized hanbok. She was as kind as she sounded on the phone and very professional with good knowledge about hanboks as well as current trends and styles. She took her time to take my measurements, help me choose the design and colors with all the details, and I never once felt rushed during the process. When I received my hanbok 3 weeks later, I was very happy and fully satisfied. It was very beautiful with such delicate and sophisticated details, and the style felt modern while still retaining the beauty and elegance of the traditional Korean hanbok. With my hanbok, several accessories were also included, including 속치마, 속바지, 버선, 슈즈, 노리개 and handbag. On the day of the wedding, my daughter almost cried seeing me so beautiful and happy in the hanbok. So many people complimented me about how beautiful I looked in my hanbok and wanted to know where I had gotten it. I hope many more people can visit Hanbok Story so that they can wear beautiful hanboks for their or their loved one's special days! I will definitely go back to Hanbok Story for many more occasions to come! THANK YOU HANBOK STORY!
I came here on August 30, 2019 around 6:30 p.m. with my mom to look at potential hanboks for my brother's upcoming wedding. And after trying on 2 top portions (not even including the bottom dress portion), the owner dismissed my mother and told us to look elsewhere instead of accommodating to a customer who had some uncertainties due to the fact that this was her first time trying on hanboks. Who dismisses a client like that? Worst service ever. But the best part of this is that my mom, my brother's future mother in law, our grandmother, my future sister in law and my brother all decided to get their hanboks at Nabi Hanbok. Good job on throwing away thousands of dollars worth of business. Go back to basics and learn how to be a business owner.
Absolutely beautiful hanbok for a very special occasion for me. The owner has an incredibly discerning eye for beauty and she picked out the perfect color that suit me well. You can borrow hair pieces / hair accessories here for a fee. It's perfect. Everywhere I went the hanbok was complimented on how beautiful it was. Highly recommended!
My mother-in-law bought me a hanbok here as a wedding gift, and then both she and my mother rented their hanboks and shoes for the wedding ceremony. The woman who works here is incredibly patient, willing to shuffle through her vast collection to find you the style and colors that work with you. She keeps up with the latest trends and styles and had a great eye for what matched each customer. Though not pushy, she was quick to tell you when a color or style was out of fashion. Because I was so indecisive, she also had a lot of catalogues that helped me whittle down my choices to one. Because mine was being custom-made, I was able to pick and choose every detail, including the undergarment, type of silk, colors, patterns, if and where I wanted stripes and embroidery, the sash color, and the shoe height. Custom orders like mine are actually made in Korea and then shipped here, so it was about a week before my hanbok came in. When I tried it on in the store, everyone was dismayed to find that it was about an inch too short, which made my shoes pop out as I walked. It really wasn't the fault of the owner; it was because my mother-in-law had specially requested that the undergarment have double the amount of tulle (used to create the 'poofy' effect of the skirt), which caused the dress to lift off of the floor. I felt bad, but the owner waved off all of our apologies and said that she would ship it back so that they could make a new one that would perfectly fit. Another week later, the perfect hanbok was in my hands, and it was just beautiful. She even threw in a decorative fob and a little matching silk purse for me to wear with the hanbok, which was a really lovely touch that completed the outfit when I wore it on my wedding day. I was given a complimentary steam clean and given thorough advice about how to store, care for, and clean my gown when it came time to do so. My mom and mother-in-law also loved their rentals (which ranges from $100-$150, depending on which gown you choose and how fancy it is), as well as the accessories that were included gratis. They have a great selection here for men, women, and children, so if you're in the market for a hankbok - whether renting or buying - I'd definitely recommend a visit.
Rented hanbok for my baby's first birthday party and the selections were so beautiful. Comes with all the accessories you need. The owner is so gentle and nice~~ She let us borrow the baby's hanbok when we went to go do a photoshoot for her.
We rented hanbok for me and my son for his first birthday party. It was back in August so the weather was super hot but still this hanbok I wore was very light and comfortable. We got a lot of compliments and they have lots of beautiful hanbok choices. Thank you for your business!

The best Hanbok place in NYC if you are shopping for something unique, new and gorgeous. The owner is terrific and honest. The price is half of all the rest of the Hanbok stores. The selection is awesome. I strongly recommend you check this place out. It only takes twenty minutes by train. read more

I recently rented a hanbok from this place for my son's wedding. I went in clueless as to what I wanted,so the shop owner picked out the style/color to match the bride's mother's hanbok. I wasn't sure initially, but ended up going with her suggestion at the end. I'm so glad I did because I received so many compliments on my hanbok at the wedding! All I can say is, trust the owner because she surely knows what she's doing. Great quality and service as well. Highly recommended! read more

We had purchased three custom hanboks in all silk (there are two types: silk and polyester) and paid about 3,000 for all of them. The manager was very sweet and easy to work with. She guides you in making the right decision and purchase. What I loved about her was that she gave us shoes and accessories gratis. I didn't even know she had a handmade brooch for me until I picked up the hanboks. The entire process took about an hour of half and then our hanboks were ready for pick up about two and half weeks later. Highly recommend this place. read more
