Spicy shrimp with rice and an egg roll.
Erin N.

I personally am I huge fan, but I also don't really ate Chinese anywhere else, so I can't comment as to have to compares to other places. I had the spicy shrimp I believe, it was good. But my main reason for going is the egg rolls! I only had one with my meal, but I brought 4 home. I love their egg rolls so much, I love that it is bean sprouts instead of cabbage like so many egg rolls are that I see. My parents have been going here for 30 years or so, and when I was a kid my meal was always egg rolls and fried rice. Will return.

Stopped by because everywhere had super long lines when we visited. We actually haven't had "American Chinese" food in a long time and we were quite excited for it. I'm actually never had 'fake Chinese food' that I didn't like, so I was quite disappointed. Egg roll was soggy and fried rice was bland and also a little off tasting. Our chow mein was also very soggy. Portions were huge though, both our plates was around $17 each. Also got charged for tea and there's an additional service change of 15% fyi. Food also came super slow. Anyways I will never want to come back, who screws up fried rice?

Sour and spicy soup

The food was outstanding and the customer service was excellent! Our order came quickly and there was barely any wait. Everything was clean and tidy! Would recommend to anyone and we will definitely come back!

Vegan meats page of menu (September 2018).

You can't get vegan mockmeats anywhere else in Niagara Falls, Ontario, to my knowledge, so New York Restaurant offers something unique. We got the braised beancurd with vegetables (C$12) but it was way too oily. I mean, oil was squirting out of the spongy tofu when you tried to fork into it. The sauce also lacked flavor. The gluten with broccoli (C$12) wasn't much better, with a similarly bland sauce. The gluten here isn't seasoned at all and has a rubbery texture. It's not like the gluten you see at Chinese restaurants in the US, which tends to be more flavorful and better textured. The vegan beef with green pepper in blackbean sauce (C$13) was the best thing we had, with a decent sauce and nice fake beef. I used the sauce from this dish to improve the bland gluten and broccoli dish. The portion sizes are decent and I found the service to be perfectly warm and inviting, unlike other reviews have mentioned. All told, if you're looking for decent vegan Chinese food, New York Restaurant is your best bet in central Niagara Falls.

noodles and fried rice

Szechuan beef

We are here twice while visiting Niagara. Friendly service and great food. Wife is Chinese and she loved it.

DH told me later he was unsure about a seafood place in a strip mall (it's next to a branch of RBC), but this means there's lots of free and safe parking. Midweek lunch meant no reservation was necessary, even during high tourist season. Just inside the door is a list of the locations of the hundred or so purveyors of their oysters: It's impressive! We opted for small plates and a few side dishes. Everything was so well prepared! My oysters were plump, briny, and attractively plated on ice with lemon slices. A small bucket of jarred sauces rounded out the setting: Hot Jamaican, spicy mustard, Wostershire, and mignonette. On the platter was freshly grated horseradish, which had a five second delay before the heat kicked in! My husband had the lobster roll, which was crammed full of large pieces of lobster! It was the best we've ever had! We'll be back soon! Husb

Our server was super friendly and…read moreattentive, although the kitchen was a bit slow considering how few people were in the restaurant. We started with the scallops and pork belly appetizer, which was excellent. The scallop had a textbook-perfect sear, and the pork belly was beautifully cooked, with the fat rendered down so well that it didn't eat fatty or greasy. The whipped feta dip was also delicious, but unfortunately, the accompanying toast was slightly overdone, giving it a bitter aftertaste. They brought us a second serving of bread, which was so much better. I kept thinking to myself that I should have said something about the first batch because it really made a world of difference. For our entrées, the squid ink pasta was good, and the seafood tasted wonderfully fresh, although I would have preferred a brighter, fresher-tasting tomato sauce. The pan-seared pickerel was cooked perfectly, with beautifully crispy skin. Unfortunately, the accompaniments sounded much better on paper than they tasted on the plate. There were cheddar grits, a gumbo reduction, and andouille sausage, but honestly, you could have served me cauliflower mash instead of the grits, and I probably wouldn't have known the difference. I couldn't pick up any distinct flavors from the gumbo reduction or the andouille sausage. The only thing that really stood out was the charred corn. I'm not sure whether there were too many components competing with each other or simply not enough seasoning to bring out their individual flavors, but everything seemed to get lost. My biggest disappointment, however, was the drinks. We ordered the Fall Pear Collins and the Caesar, and while both tasted great, I expected a little more alcohol for what they were charging. I actually ended up ordering an additional shot of vodka to add to my Caesar because I could barely detect the alcohol in it, let alone feel a buzz. Overall, it was a pretty good meal with some genuinely excellent cooking, particularly the scallops, pork belly, and perfectly seared fish. A few tweaks to the seasoning, better attention to the details, and more generously poured cocktails would have made the experience that much better. There's definitely potential here, and despite a few misses, we still enjoyed our evening.

I do have to say, the service was a bit disorganized. The woman who initially helped us was incredibly nice but seemed a little overwhelmed. I don't think she was actually our server, as she mentioned something about trying to find someone to help us. But she was kind enough to take our order anyway. Our actual server eventually came over, and we explained that we had already placed our order with the other woman. Funny enough, we ended up asking that same first woman for our check because our server was nowhere to be found again. Thankfully, she was lovely throughout the whole experience. Service issues aside, the food was excellent! I ordered the Croque Madame, and it was absolutely fabulous. The eggs were expertly cooked, and everything from the delicious bacon and buttery brioche to the blistered tomato came together beautifully. The only thing I felt it didn't need was the Dijon chipotle aioli. There was already so much flavor going on that it seemed unnecessary. I substituted home fries for my side, and they were crispy, golden, and absolutely delicious. I ate every last one! And that's saying something because I rarely finish all my potatoes unless it's a tiny portion, which this definitely wasn't. My husband ordered the Niagara Country Skillet and had absolutely no complaints. It looked pretty good to me, too! Overall, an excellent meal. Despite the slightly scattered service, the food more than made up for it. Between the charming atmosphere and the delicious breakfast, this was definitely a place I'd happily return to. And next time, maybe we'll actually stay at the inn.

Our waitress explained that it was all you can eat for $70 per person and sides would have to be ordered by scanning a QR code on your phone and choosing what you would like. Cocktails are not included in this price. Once left the table , we were immediately approached with an array of options of meat . Different types of beef and chicken and pineapple were coming around too. Everything had a great flavor and meat was tender as well. We ordered mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. We enjoyed our food. Staff was attentive and we left satisfied.

Firstly, parking: It's all free, but the lot adjacent to the restaurant has 20 spaces for a business that seats 200 people. Arriving cars are to wait at the curb outside for the white shuttle to arrive, then follow this to a free parking place two blocks away. Reverse the process to leave. It's difficult to enter and exit a high van in a tight skirt and high heels. Just saying. We arrived just in time to see the 8pm floor show, but the music was so loud I was praying for it to end. To order from the menu for AYCE side dishes, you have to have a phone that can scan the QR code: No printed menu was forthcoming, and the print on my cell phone was too small for my husband to read. The music was so loud it made conversation impossible, so I made the choices. The kitchen had already run out of mashed potatoes, and green chimichurri sauce by 8pm, and they seat until 11pm on Saturdays. I was not impressed. There's a chaotic way the servers with the meats circulated. Some tables were served steak three times while we were never served. It's a $90 per person meal where drinks and desserts are extra, our table wobbled horribly, and we couldn't speak to each other. It was the opposite of hospitality. How loud was the music? I'm writing this the next morning and my ears are still ringing. There are many other steakhouses on this side of town: Brasa, Ruth Chris, STK. Next time, I'll try one of them.
