Sometimes we open Yelp and decide to go to some places just because we've never heard of it before…read moreand the reviews are awesome. Vinnie's Pizzeria was that for us today. When we want pizza, I'm looking for authentic New York style or some brick oven baked charred crust. Vinnie's isn't either of these but it had great reviews from fellow yelpers so of course we needed to see it for ourselves. It was pretty crowded when we arrived but we didn't have to wait long before we were seated. Dominique our Server helped us decide what to order. She was awesome and fun and we could tell she loved her job and the food there. I love that! She highly recommended the garlic knots so we started with those. My husband got Chicken Marsala on Dominique's recommendation. I ordered Chicken Cannelloni. The portions are very generous and I ended up taking some home for a nice treat later. Everything we had was delicious and now I want to go back and try the pizza.

A surprizingly small eatery, has a separate dining area with booths and some tables. Our server was professional and kind, we ordered our drinks and a start with their version of Bruschetta. This was an excellent start for our evening there. A beautiful presentation of five pieces, nicely toasted with paper thin prosciutto de parma, fresh mozzarella, chopped tomato, capers and balsamic reduction drizzle. Delicious, rich, crunchy, sweet, savory and full flavored. I went for the Parmigiana with chicken, served over angel hair with a rich tomato sauce. A hearty meal, the chicken cutlet was breaded nicely, and pounded thin, cooked very well. The pasta underneath cooked al dante, and it all smoothered in a rich maranara. We also tried the Mediterranean pizza, a 12" and it was huge. A well made pie, loaded with ingredients. The combination of fresh pesto with the mushrooms, olives, banana peppers, roasted red peppers and feta was a solid choice. Along with a cold draft Stella it made for an very good meal. 4 Stars a solid choice for a good meal 01242

I was quite pleased, the NY Style crust was a good quality and wasn't too thick or too thin. The ingredients were all well proportioned as well. With plenty of notice, this was no issue, and they were actually 20 minutes early making the delivery of a stack of hot pizza's to our office. We had minimal interaction with the staff, only the driver, who was friendly. The pizzas were all tasty, and as i mentioned delivered hot and ready to eat. They didn't skimp on toppings, especially for the meat lovers pizzas, they were loaded up. The crust wasn't anything that WOWed me though, it was soft, and thin, but lacked any real flavor. But any pizza is good pizza in my opinion. Their pricing was fair, and they delivered as scheduled!

Mixed bag is the best way I can describe the times I have had food from Rome Italian Pizza. I…read moreactually grew up in High Point, but had never eaten inside the actual restaurant until a week ago. That said, I have had pizzas either by take-out or delivery several times over what has to be 30 years now. Lately, I had a couple basic pizzas from them at a function in downtown, and we also stopped in for lunch on a total whim, wanting a pizza buffet. First, the pizzas over the years. I would say, on par with most of the locally owned pizza and local franchise spots around, like an Elizabeth's. Sometimes, I would describe the pizza as dry, other times, the sauce ratio is a little better and it is quite good. The pizza is a solid 4 stars, I would say, if you're considering a pizza... go for it, decide for yourself. Now, our most recent experience inside the restaurant, was simply not a positive one. We came in around 1pm, wanting to do the pizza buffet. Unfortunately, looking at what was available, it just wasn't appealing. The pizza was very cold, it needed a refresh. We expressed this to the waitress. If she had said "we'll make you a fresh pizza of whichever type you want" we'd have been game. That's not the response we got, so we moved on to hot subs. I ordered the meatball sub, my wife ordered chicken parm. The meatball was, just ok. The meatballs themselves were sliced and warm, sauce was the same I was used to from the pizza, cheese could have used more time to melt, but overall... I was OK. Her sandwich, was not good at all. She did write her own review about it, and I happen to agree. It's generally expected that ordering a chicken parm sandwich at an italian pizzeria is going to be a breaded cutlet. What was given was the shaved chicken that you would normally see if someone orders chicken on a pizza (not my thing, but to each their own). The result was very very dry chicken. The sandwich sat on her plate with two bites taken out of it for the meal duration. No prompt was given for whether we enjoyed our meal. In all, I learned my lesson that day, that this place is good for a fresh pizza. I'll only go that route in the future. The sandwiches were simply not our preference. The chicken parm needs to be rethought, or better explained as shaved chicken.

Ordered fried ravioli and they lost the filling in the fryer - every one was mostly empty. Not worth the cost. Limoncello cake was a whim add on. Wish we had skipped. The cooler is always stocked with desserts and looks good but now we know. The box was dated 19 days ago. If this was the prep date, it's 12 days past its good by date - especially given the cheese in the topping/filling. It tasted pungent. No go. Another waste of $. Final straw tonight was biting into a staple in my salad. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that it fell in from opening the bag (they staple receipts to the bag and to close). But still the risk not worth it here, folks. Mama Mia would be smart to invest in a roll of stickers. I'm less than impressed tonight by one of our go to fast casual Italian spots. Nonna Rosa's falls squarely in the latter. I got to check them out during a make-your-own-pie Yelp event and liked them so much that I was back less than a week later. It was just as good, if not better, the second time. Though Nonna Rosa's offers calzones, salads, and a few apps, pizza is the star attraction here. It's a classic style: thicker than a floppy/greasy quintessential New York slice but thinner than a true thick crust. It's also a labor of love for the owner, who is, in the best way possible, a pizza history nerd. Nonna Rosa's pizzamakers are both amicable and assured. My wife and I ended up getting a Garlic White Pie (garlic parmesan cream, ricotta, mozzarella, and a bit of hot honey) to go. It took about fifteen minutes for them to make, looked amazing, and the smell taunted us the whole way home. The taste, however, was not to be outdone. Neither too spicy nor too sweet, the flavors were balanced nicely, and the creamy, cheesy texture made for a very satisfying bite. With 16-inch pizzas running in the mid-20s, Nonna Rosa's slings a pricey pie. There are definitely respectable pizzas in the area that can be had for less. Few, however, will leave you instantly craving more the way Nonna Rosa's will.

Although I was trying to order from the West Main location, but apparently app was for the National Hwy location by I-85. After taking a tour of Thomasville, I arrive to pick up my carryout. The guy working cash register misunderstood "I have carryout" for wanting to placing an order. When misunderstanding was cleared up, I receive my carryout box & drink and left. He was very attentive and cordial during our brief interaction. When I arrived back at work, the calzone was hot, fresh & delicious, and served with a side of sauce. The calzone was very cheesy, with a smattering of steak and toppings. (The peppers were green but had seeds and a bit of a kick. I do not believe they were a standard green pepper, so be specific if that's what you're anticipating). Although I would've preferred more steak distributed throughout as ends were more cheese than steak/toppings, I wonder if some of the steak was substituted with veggies as app only allows comments and does not allow you to add items at additional cost. The calzone provided 2 meals for me, and reheated nicely, but lunch portion may suffice as one meal for a larger appetite. If you love sauce, definitely ask for additional container or two as one does not suffice! For future orders, I would call ahead to ensure I'm charged for additional items, and would probably use drive thru on side of building to pick up order vs walking inside & waiting in line with other patrons checking out, as restaurant has a pretty sizable lunch rush crowd.
