I've been coming to this salon for years and I've seen all the changes . It's a cozy salon , with kindhearted people . I've often come alone and ended up having some of the best conversations with others getting their nails done . The employees here know their clientele very well. I always hear them catching up or checking up on each other's families. I normally come for a gel mani or brow threading . Sandi does some of the best threading around and I always appreciate catching up with Kiki. The prices are great , lower than at other places similar near by . This isn't a fancy trendy salon so you won't find anything like that . However if you need a mani, threading, waxing this place has got you covered. read more

2nd time here the people here are very professional. The place is very clean. Came in and their was a 20 min wait so i decided to eat across the way but once i came in it was empty so i got to sit right away and i got a pedicure.Then after seeing all these woman with long beautiful eyelashes i was like im gettn myself some too.I was kind of hesitant since my eyes are very sensitive but i was like f..... It. My bday is in 2 weeks and i might not have any bad reaction. So i got em done and so happy. Nate is the young mans name very nice young man. A friend of mine with perfect lashes every time I saw her told me about Dean at New York Nails. After over a year of thinking about it I decided to walk in to see how of the process took. Turns out only one was waiting so once he finished up her I was next. Before I was called up I looked at my phone around 1:21, by the time I was done and in my car it was 1:43, so it took less than 20 minutes including me cleaning off my mascara (I wasn't originally expecting to do it today!). They do recommend making an appointment. Here's how the procedure went: After I cleaned off my lashes (come clean!) I lay on a reclined bed in the main area and Dean directs you to look at the TV. I told him I have sensitive skin and he's aid his glue will be good for sensitive skin. He evaluated my existing lashes and placed one for me to see. **note: these are not attached to existing lashes like $200 extentions** They looked good, so he proceeded to apply the lashes. It never hurt. Of course, I blinked because it's natural to do so with something around your lid. After the first eye is done he handed me the mirror to see it, and proceeded to the next eye. The lashes he uses are the fake lashes with three per unit he glues just along your lash line. If someone is 2 inches from your face they may notice, but generally no one will be that close to analyze! During the installation he told me how to care for them: 1. DO NOT REMOVE YOURSELF! If there's any issues come in to see him. He's there pretty much everyday but Sunday. Call ahead of its urgent. 2. Don't wear mascara. Unless you like the spider leg look (which you shouldn't!), no need for it! 3. Okay to wear eyeliner and eyeshadow. just be gentle removing makeup to prolong the application. You may not need eyeliner! 4. Avoid really hot showers. The heat may loosen the glue and lead to lashes falling out too soon Again, these aren't the $180-280 extensions that are attached to the ends of your natural lashes. To me, it's individual (as opposed to strip) fake lashes applied precisely and quickly by someone quick... saving me loads of time and frustration. It felt a little funny at first because of the change, but if you're used to eye makeup you should know not to run it! if you can't resist messing with your eyelashes then don't do it. you have to be disciplined (with any extensions) to leave them alone! They should last 3 weeks before the next fill. I'll update my review after that on how the full went, and the weeks in between :) UPDATE: After about a month and a half I had to remove the lashes. I really did love them, and would have continued but 1. The upkeep driving across town was too much for me. If they were closer to where I lived (20 minutes to get there) things would be different. 2. While I LOVED them and most females (hopefully honestly) friends said they looked good, the husband wasn't a fan 3. I think my eyelids get a little too oily, which contributed to #1... an extension or two would loosen at the ends and I'd have to drive back over there before they tugged out my real lashes. At the end of the day, I'd do it again for a special occasion or a long weekend. I didn't even feel I needed any eye makeup, just a little mineral powder on my face and I was good to go. As a daily beauty routine, though, the upkeep ended up robbing me of beautiful perfect lashes. read more

My first time here, it's small very crowded, but everyone seemed to be working hard. Typical bad manners that I see from a lot of Asian nail shops(not acknowledging their customers), not sure what that's about but it's an observation. Got my eyelash extensions put on here. The young guy putting them on was really cool and laid back. He had me teared up but he did a good job. The family is from New York so I guess that's how they came up with the name. Please do your research before coming here. They tell you NOT to wet your eyelashes at all, not just within the 24 hours but at all during the entire time you have them. When you ask how to "wash your eyelashes" the guy tells you not to, that there is no need for them. Well my eyelashes started to fall out "naturally" but as I look at my fake eyelashes falling out, I noticed it took my REAL eyelashes with them! I can now see I'm missing my real eyelashes in the middle of the eyes. Extremely regret going here. I wish I would have spent the extra money to get them done elsewhere. It's not worth the $60. read more

I love this little place. Sandy does the best threading and pedi. Boa does the best nails in my opinion. The older guy as well as the younger guy do the best lashes. For 20 bucks! I don't know anyone else there so those are my go to peeps! I have known them for 5 years roughly. But I always forget their names except Sandy since she makes deposits at the branch I work at. I love Nat. He always hooks my lashes up when I'm in town. I've never had any problems with getting in or making appointments. It's a small shop so I would always call before going in to save yourself time. Just popping up and hoping to get something done (lashes,nails, eyebrows) is a bit risky here cause of the size of the space. read more

I'm loving this place. I was stressing a few days before graduation, and I was checking out what seemed like every nail salon in Bakersfield. This was the only place i found that was cost effective and did a great job. They only charged me $16 and still gave me a full pedicure with a foot massage as well. They also use great quality nail products along with a wide range of colors. The employees are incredibly friendly and make your needs their priority. I am definitely going to go back there.
