We spoke with several companies and never felt as comfortable as we did with New Wave. We spoke with Eric and Rick and we were given sound advice with an honest opinion. With a sense of urgency we wanted to tackle this project to change our pool to salt. With that, we needed to break concrete on our entire deck, change all the plumbing and electrical and add new drains. We also added a baja step in the shallow end and a rest step in the deep end. New tile, new coping, salt water system, calcium reducer, led lights and pebble. As of today, we are already filling our pool and we broke ground on this project only 22 days ago!!!!! Adam was very patient and sat down with me and my wife multiple times to come up with a design that we really liked. The price quotation was nicely itemized and reasonable. We just moved into our house in 2015. The first thing my wife and I wanted to remodel was our pool because it hadn't been remodeled since 1971. The deck looked old, some of the return pipes weren't working, the slide was beat down, etc, etc because of the pool's age. Our neighbor had gotten her pool remodeled a few years back and it looks beautiful. She referred me to Eric Fuston and his father Rick Fuston of New Wave Pool Remodeling. Beforehand, Eric talked to a former customer so I could go over to a home and observe further examples of the company's workmanship. Eric came by and went through our options, then he took pictures, and after a few days created two computer generated renderings of our backyard. I thought this was awesome because it showed us what our finished pool would look like. Of course, we got 4 more estimates from other companies but in the end, we chose NWPR because of their promptness in returning our calls and answering our questions. Additionally, the company's pricing was comparable but better laid out than the other 4 companies. We decided on pavers for our deck, a new slide, an auto fill for our pool, new piping, and to place our solar return pipes underground. Additionally, they added a baja reef on the shallow side of our pool. They also rewired our pool because it was a mess. They resurfaced our pool with a dark quartz so that the water would appear darker. Throughout the remodeling process, Rick, the owner, kept us in the loop with what was happening. He didn't mind when I called or texted him about concerns and questions that I had. Throughout the remodel, the crew was professional and cleaned up each day. When the work was done, I had a few questions and NWPR sent someone over right away to show me how to operate my new pool. I highly recommend this company. They did a great job! read more

I got my pool remodeled by this company about 4 years ago. Everything seemed to go okay. I noticed a big rough spot in shallow in and they reluctantly came back out to fix. All under warranty for 5 years. The tile job wasn't very good and the sealant they used was very uneven but wasn't going to nitpick. I recently called them about the, ( Let me make sure I get this right because the grouchy father told me at least 4 times in our conversation I was wrong on the terminology), Silicone above my tile was coming off in chunks. He said he'd send someone out to fix but strongly said " I'm Not!" 5 to 6 days go by haven't heard anything? I called and texted him twice.....Crickets. I texted Adam the son and he said he doesn't handle customer concerns? I'm sorry but I'm in Sales and I've never said that one time to a client in my 18 years!? Couldn't imagine? The father has a bad attitude and should not be the one handling any clients concerns. I am very patient but I will not take being schooled on the correct terminology and a sarcastic attitude to boot. At the end of first conversation, he said that I never even paid for that but whatever? I will send someone out. Told them forget it and will do better job myself. Some guy(white hair and stache) showed up and basically said we couldnt afford it and it was a waste of time. He said my house isnt worth the remodel. I live in Fullerton hills... Calls go to an answering service. I got a call back and an appointment was scheduled, but no one showed up. I called to see if there was a communications error and to reset the appointment. I got a call back for Rick who said there was never an appointment set. He accused me of lying. Then he went on to argue with me instead of trying to straighten it out, so I hung up on him. He called back and said we may have been disconnected. I told him I had hung up and that there was no way I was going to do business with anyone that wants to argue with his customers. I wouldn't use new wave pool remolding if they were the last company in business. If he/they treat a potential customer like this while in the process of securing the contract, think of how they will respond and treat you once the contract is signed. read more

I requested an estimate to replaster and tile our pool and spa, Adam arrived, stayed a few minutes, appeared to take some measurements, didn't bring materials to show us, said "give me a day or so" and I'll send a detailed email by function and cost. I'll send you a text before I send the email to alert you, been a week and have heard nothing, apparently our job is to small and he didn't have the nerve to say he wasn't interested, scoring them a 1 is to high, next time I'll pay closer attention to the negative reviews rather than the positive ones, glad at this point were not in a contract. read more

Eric, salesman, was good. Rick, his dad, who is supposed to be running things, doesn't seem like he knows what he is doing. He can't even answer question. His guys did follow the 'approved plans for our pool and lines' for doing water and gas lines. They don't come and fix things they have broken on my house and one of our water lines, for sprinklers. We can't even use our sprinklers, at all. Rick doesn't even come and check the guys work with the plans. He also has us go tell his guys they needed to run a gas and water line; clearly shown on the plans. Then the workers say they aren't supposed to be doing it. It's super frustrating. We started all this process, in December 2020, so we could enjoy a pool by summer. I don't think we'll even be done by the end of August. read more

After getting proposals from a few different pool contractors, I chose New Wave for my pool- remodel. The Fuston family own the company and were a pleasure to work with. The only thing they didn't do was dig the hole. The remodeling crew, from the demo to the fine-details, were polite and efficient. Along the way, issues came-up, as with any large project, but they were handled in a timely manner. I upgraded to quartz plaster, and added lights to my retaining wall (they built it), and my backyard went from dated and run-down to a little oasis, with potential for anything I imagine (my daughters say it could be on "Cribs"). My wife and I recently purchased a house with a pool. The pool needed to be replastered. We called several pool companies to get estimates. Our last call was to new wave pool remodeling. The rep came out and gave us a descent price to replaster. He also gave suggestions on what else we could do since the pool was rather old. He was not pushy and gave great reasons as to why we should replace the tile and bricks at the edge of the pool. He was patient with us in designing and assisted us with making our choices. We love our newly remodeled pool! Adam came out and was very helpful about the changes we wanted. He was patient and had good suggestions. Our remodel started the following week! We had new flagstone coping, new tile, new tahoe blue pebble tec, a Baja shelf, all new plumbing, and new cement decking. Different crews came for each stage of the project all of which did a great job. A couple issues did come up, but Rick the owner was quick to respond and solve. I can't say enough about this family run company. First of all as other reviews mentioned, we had bad luck getting other companies to show up for a bid. Eric from New Wave showed up within a few days of our initial contact. In the end we had three quotes for our pool remodel and New Wave was competitive with the others. Ultimately decided to go with them because I just had a "good feeling" about them and I'm glad I did. Eric estimated the pool remodel would probably be completed within five weeks after demo but they finished within a little over three weeks. This is company that does what they say they are going to do. Rick, the owner communicated with us at every step to make sure that the pool was coming along to our liking. He also showed up frequently to the work site to inspect the progress. The pool turned out beautifully and we are more than happy with the outcome. My husband and I I highly recommend New Wave pools, a company with skilled laborers and run with integrity. For reference our remodel consisted of raising the bond beam which included two added columns with fire bowls. Replaced coping, tile, and added Baja shelf. New mini pebbele plaster. Sheer descents (3) added to raised bond beam wall, with added stacked Stone and a salt system was added. read more

I decided to remodel the pool last year and had New Wave come out to give me a quote. While the pool was completed to my liking some things to note they do outsource the plaster to another company to complete and the company name is Ultimate Pool Remodel. I paid for quartz plaster and had to give the plaster guys another $400 seperate since I wanted the reflections series. His son who does sales said I could choose any but when it got time to plaster I had a cough up more money which is not fair for a bad sales person who couldn't explain it properly. I guess they just wanted the sale. however the rest of the work is completed by his demo crew and at the time he did not have a full time plumber so I got stuck with 3 different guys Sabino, Francisco and Jose.. Unfortunately after completion had some friends over to use the jacuzzi in our cool weather heated up nicely however the spa drains to near empty when in spa mode only. Called Rick before the holiday christmas and no return phone call unfortunately its now March I think I gave him plenty of time to return my call. After going through the plumbing myself their company uses cheaper waterway products and the valve on the return was faulty causing me to replumb this section. I also paid for full plumbing and they left the existing main drain line in the ground and put new pipes everywhere else. Wasn't thrilled about that since I paid good money for new plumbing. Some things noted during the remodel. The auto fill that was installed the plumber forgot to install the overfill drain stopper to prevent water run off and soil from getting in the pool causing large deposit of phosphates. He has good guys to do the hardwork and they know what they are doing. Phosphates in the pool had increased due to this error letting water drain in through this drain line right into the pool. I have cleaned all check valves and added magic lube to o-rings and unions which was not done by New Wave installers a definite must to increase longevity. $5 tube of lube lol. Help protect the gaskets from cracking and failing. Extra grout was left on expensive travertine during tiling and is hard to remove without machines so i have left it but its the one thing my friends comment on when in the spa like "what happened"? My answer... Someone was lazy. My one suggestion get everything in writing as they wanted me to sign a contract that indicated no warranty would be given on the plumbing done maybe why he didnt call back. What a joke. If you are getting plumbing done you should look at the plumbing yourself to ensure consistency. One thing is they failed to follow installation instructions for my pump hayward ecostar requiring at a minimum 2.5" Pvc or 3" suction lines. They installed 2" limiting my flow per minute causing the pump to work harder at 100% which will reduce the lifespan of my pump motor. Also since I put in an automation system the installer crossed wires and caused fuses to trip. Simple trace of the wires and I was able to get it working. Unfortunately due to this error it caused my new LED laminars to fail. Luckily the manufacturer of the product Pentair understood the lack of knowledge from my pool installer and they sent me replacements that I put in myself. I also had to identify where I wanted check valves and stuff for the plumbing since it was a little more complex than what they are used to and some of the water features they didn't even know existed. For a company that calls themselves newwave you would expect that they are up on their pool game. By the time we were 75% into the remodel I had more knowledge than I ever wanted but was helpful in me determining how I wanted my features t work. And it's good for the homeowner to engage in this to understand what's going on. The owner Rick has sales knowledge but don't ask him about functionality. He had to constantly ask his plumber if the pumps I had would be sufficient for my water features. I'm sorry but a technical sheet will tell you what the pump spits out and a tech sheet on the features would tell you how much flow is required. I'm guessing no one read the installation instructions. Don't pay more than 2500 for plumbing it only costs him about 1000 labor and pipe. As all companies they are just here for the money... read more

The team came out and inspected my pool and helped with some ideas. The team was very helpful and very responsive and took the time to explain every step in the remodel process. I asked to make last minute changes and they were able to accommodate the changes at a minimal cost. They gave me a three to four week window and even with the rain the team finished the job and did a great job in three weeks. Company is honest and does great work . I hired New Wave to re-plaster and re-tile our pool, paint the rock work around our pool, and to put in pavers. The price was good and Adam seemed very responsive, but unfortunately that responsiveness only lasted as long as it took to get our money. When the workers jackhammered out our existing cement, they knocked a hole in the wall. I understand that things happen, but no one ever fixed it, despite my repeated emails and requests. When we were finally able to swim in the pool, we realized that the plaster was so rough in areas that it tore our swimsuits. After repeated calls, they finally came out, drained the water and fixed the plaster. I told Rick (whom I believe is the owner) and Adam that the blue plaster we chose was starting to show white spots. Rick said "this is normal." It is not normal. We then realized after a couple months that the paint on the rock work was coming off in places. I emailed Adam and he would never respond. Same thing for Rick. I finally had my husband contact Rick and he again said "this is normal." It is ugly and not normal (it never happened in the 10 years before we remodeled the pool). Rick said he would have someone fix it and he never has. I am so disappointed in this company. I saved every dime to re-model our pool and worked hard for that money. But I guess this company feels entitled to take that money and not deliver the promised product. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more
