I was debating a 3 or 4 star, but the more I thought about it, I kept leaning towards 3. Now I'd say for the Chinese takeout I've had in the area so far, this place has been far better. But at the same time, I don't think it was an above-average Chinese takeout location. I kept it simple since I was only ordering for myself. Shrimp roll, steamed pork dumplings, and a beef w/broccoli combo that came with pork fried rice and wonton soup. The pork dumplings were good. And considering the price was standard AND you got 10 dumplings (I think most places go with an order of 8, occasionally 6) you're getting a good quantity. The wonton soup was also good. The wonton noodle wasn't over-cooked and the broth was tasty. For the combo, I was happy to see their rice isn't that strange, yellow fried rice you sometimes get at Chinese places. It's not brown rice, but upon the frying/stir-fry, the rice becomes brown. The sauce was good on the beef w/ broccoli. Not overly oily or salty. Broccoli was crisp and the beef had a good texture. While not the best, basic Chinese takeout I've ever had, it's currently leading for my local place. read more

I eat Chinese food like once a year. All the obvious reasons: fatty, salty,god knows what's in it, etc...I much prefer Thai, however- I ordered from here tonight and it was delicious! I like dumplings but usually find them too doughy, so I went with steamed won-ton- perfect. Tasty, good balance of filling and wrap. Good ponzu for dipping. Second course- Szechuan shrimp and house fried rice; good amount off crisp shrimp, crunchy veggies and tasty sauce- nothing wrong with that! Fried rice is supposed to be greasy and this did not disappoint, yet not as greasy as it could be and full of yummy stuff. Definitely fresh rice not hard and chewy. Homemade hot mustard- a must All small orders- total of$14. + tip. Plenty left over for tomorrow. Not too salty, don't feel like a big, bloated piggy. Classic fortune cookie for dessert. This is absolutely the best chinese food you can find. I have been ordering from them for 10 years and I simply can not go anywhere else now. If its not New Man Hing, its not worth it. I am not afraid to try something new off the menu because I am never disappointed. They do not make their food too greasy, and when I call they just need my phone # and it gives them my address as well as my ordering history (yes I have asked "what did I order last time, it was good") My delivery is reliably here in around 20 minutes, and the service is always friendly. Portions are good, and reasonably priced. Important plus when you are a feeding a family of 5! If you want that classic Chinese take out style Chinese food then New Man Hing is the place to call. The portions are huge, the food is good (my favorites are the pork dumplings and sesame noodles), and they are always fast. There have been times when I order six or seven dishes and the bill is never more than $40 and it always takes 15-30 minutes. Being from LA, I've definitely had my share of good Chinese food. But there's something about Chinese food on the East Coast that makes it pretty special. I ordered a steamed vegetable dish and chicken chow fun. Both dishes were tasty and affordable (~$12 with tip), and delivery was pretty fast, even though they say it takes ~45 minutes. They take credit card orders under $25 over the phone. The place seems to be busy all the time though. When I called to place an order, it took me a few tries to get through, because I kept getting a busy tone. Maybe it's time to consider online ordering or something! read more

Worst experience ever. Having been ordering here about once a month since moving here in June. Haven't loved it, but haven't found anything better yet. Tonight, ordered food. Delivery guy gave it to me and then realized he forgot to pull receipt over. Instead of saying something, he walked past me through my house and into my kitchen to get it. I mainly come here for the steamed or fried pork dumplings- they're out of this world! I especially LOVE the brown sauce they give you to go along with the dumplings, its extremely flavorful and really compliments the dumplings perfectly. I always ask for extra sauce for the dumplings when I order. I have tried a few other things from here like the lo mein and fried rice, but I keep coming back for the dumplings because I think they're the best ones around! I have never ordered for delivery, but when I either call ahead to order, or just go up to the counter and order, my food is always ready very quickly and I never have to wait very long. Parking can be a little tricky because there are a few spaces in front of the restaurant, then there is a side street nearby where you can sometimes snag a parking spot. We always do take out, and I will say the building itself could use a facelift... it's the reason I didn't give 5 stars.
