New Life Construction is a step above anyone else we've worked with. Richard was very quick to examine the project and get us a detailed quote. He was also able to provide some additional insight into what needed to be done. Pat, our project manager, was on point consistently and called every day with updates. The workers were very professional, skilled, courteous, and ALWAYS on time. Our new bathroom is BEAUTIFUL! Excellent quality and the envy of everyone who sees it. Thank you for bringing "New Life " to our home! read more

New Life has done three projects for us - our family room addition and two bathroom remodels. The family room was done a while ago and we appreciated their work so much we asked them to do one of our bathroom remodels about four years ago. That went well so this year we asked them to do our second bathroom remodel. So each time we had a project that needed to be done we had a couple different bids just to see what options there are and always went back to New Life because, even though they are not the cheapest, they had the best ideas and were willing to work with us more than the other places seemed to. Richard, the founder, has great ideas. My husband and I have a rough idea of what we want but Richard's suggestions for all three of our projects helped us consider more possibilities which I really appreciate. We also enjoyed working with Junior who was the lead on our bathroom projects. He is easy to work with, communicates well, and was patient with our many questions and requests. He also had some great ideas for our bathroom that we wouldn't have thought of but enhanced the remodel. What other contractors were not willing to do, such as our pocket door for our bathroom, Junior worked out a solution to make it possible. Even if problems arose, he helped things move forward as smoothly as possible. Everyone who worked on the project was professional and pleasant to work with. So thank you to the entire team who worked hard to accommodate our requests. read more

I really enjoyed working with Richard (the founder of New Life Construction) in remodeling my parents' 1950's house. He was somehow able to transform a dark, cramped, worn out space into something that looks like a showcase. He instinctively knew where to lift ceilings, reroute air ducts and take out walls to create an open, airy, and modern look. His workers (many of them have worked there for years) were incredibly polite and trustworthy. I couldn't believe how tidy and clean they always left the site. Richard always kept the project moving in a positive direction, gave me honest feedback and was sensitive to my budget. His right-hand man and Project Manager, Junior, was on-point and super responsive. The end-result is stunning, and I am getting compliments all the time. Best of all, Richard, Junior and team made the whole experience very easy for me. I was referred to NLC from a friend and never had to worry about handing over the house. These are high quality people who have incredible integrity and they produce beautiful workmanship. I would highly recommend New Life Construction to anyone. read more

New Life Construction - New Life Construction just completed my remodel! - General Contractors Near Me - San Diego, California

We have recently completed a kitchen renovation project which included all new cabinetry, appliances, lighting and related plumbing and electrical work. We were fortunate that our designer chose New Life Construction for this project. New Life was exceptionally good! They were prompt and kept to their committed schedule. They hired only the very best subcontractors for the various aspects of the job. We could not be more pleased with the results. They were polite, tidy and helpful. There was never an issue when we asked for minor adjustments. They were made cheerfully and quickly. Jay, the project manager, was here often and was accessible by phone without delay. He provided us with excellent guidance on several decision points and was fast to respond to any issue. We heartily recommend working with New Life for your home projects and are happy to provide additional details if needed. read more

New Life Construction did an outstanding job with my kitchen remodel! James did a great job, as the manager of his New Life crew. Everyone that came to my house was professional and courteous. I appreciated that they took great care to put down plastic and cardboard and sealed off my kitchen with plastic, so the rest of my house and my entry way (front deck) did not become real dusty. I also appreciate the AWESOME job Glenn did on my cabinets!! When I do another house project, I will definitely use New Life Construction! read more

New Life Construction is awesome! The company has been the main contractor handling our Home Depot kitchen remodel. (See separate review.) I can't say enough good things about the work they did. Everyone, from laborers doing clean up to the skilled craftsmen that installed our cabinets, was polite, highly competent, and left our home clean each day. Although there were a couple of glitches that delayed the project, these were not NLC's fault and they accommodated the delays as smoothly as possible, with minimal additional delay. We particularly want to commend Jay Cruz, the project foreman. Jay set the tone for all the work done. He is professional, polite, and knowledgeable. He kept us informed of the project status, what would happen next, and any potential problems we should know about. Jay's coordination with the Home Depot Project Manager was excellent - they were always on the same page. When it became clear that our kitchen floor needed some work that HD had not planned on, Jay arranged to have it done at a fair price and made sure it was done as we expected it. He looked at every problem as though the kitchen were his own. We could not have been in better hands! We would highly recommend NLC to anyone and look forward to working with them on an up-coming bath remodel. read more

I just finished up a major remodel on my kitchen and downstairs bathroom. I couldn't be any happier with the care and construction New Life Construction gave me on this project. Pat was my project manager, and he was so nice and caring. When things came up, he really went out of his way to make sure to explain what was happening and keep things on track. I had a slab leak right as the kitchen cabinets were starting to be installed, and luckily Dale (who is one of their Master finisher carpenters with great attention to detail) caught it! His quick assessment saved me thousands of dollars should this have been discovered after the kitchen was complete. I felt very fortunate that he caught it, and yes it delayed my project, but thankfully Pat got me back on track once the plumbing issue was repaired. Ralph who is also a NLC Master Carpenter (great skill and attention to detail also) is one of their specialists who could step in to solve any problems that came along the way. Everyone at this company is polite, give constant, careful attention to cleanup and just plain nice to work with. Jayson, another Project Manager for New Life is also great. He is able to step in when Pat was called to another project. They really know how to effectively schedule and coordinate even though they have other projects at the same time. I also appreciated the great sub-contractors they use for the different phases. They all are professionals at what they are specialized in, and really do it well. ( Many thanks to Charmet Tile, SoCal drywall, Holly Electric, and Forster plumbing) I also want to say that any hold ups on my construction were purely from defects or delays from manufacturers, or unknown issues behind the walls. Since my late husband was in construction for over forty years, I understand a lot about construction so I know that you never know what can happen. The main thing is to be patient, and more importantly is to have a great contractor who will get it done correctly so it won't be an issue down the road. I will eventually be remodeling two other bathrooms, and they will be who I contact when I am ready. I am completely happy with New Life Construction and will definitely recommend them to anyone I know that is considering a remodeling project. Many, many thanks to all of you! You are true professionals who care about their clients..... read more

This review is long overdue. We recently remodeled our kitchen and it turned out fabulous thanks to NLC and Justin his crew of amazing people. Love our kitchen, design with the help of Debbie from Home Depot. It is very functional, clean and modern. Alex the cabinet installer did a fabulous job customizing our pantry. Everything turned out as I imagined it in my head from the beginning. I would like to thank the crew especially Justin (project manager, who I have heard a lot of good reviews about) we lived in the house during the remodel, not an easy thing to do but Justin kept me up to date on deadlines & schedules and made it super easy. He was there when I needed him, always reachable by phone. People were really amazed how Home Depot can do this kitchen design but I always told them it's the NLC and Justin that made it happen. read more

Several years ago I had some home renovations done by New Life Construction and was so pleased I decided to engage their services when the time came for a kitchen renovation! Once again I am thoroughly pleased. jay, the foreman, made sure the workers showed up when scheduled, were non intrusive, friendly, helpful and worked hard to get the job done in a timely fashion. Ricardo who installed the cabinets is not only an excellent craftsman but artistic. Brady and Campbell who installed all the necessary electrical devices went above and beyond by helping advise and made recommendations which were much appreciated. I would definitely use their services going forward! read more

OMG!!!!!! Theirs is the worst & way below that is New Life Construction Co. How dare you have a religious symbol on your truck for you are the devil in sheep's clothing. They spend more time trying to cover up their mistakes than trying to do decent work. We caught one of their workers on You Tube trying to figure out how to install a shower door. Be smart, do not walk away but RUN as fast as you can from this company. A 8 week overhaul of two bathrooms turned into almost 5 months & I have another month of fixing their screw ups. My wife and I loved working with New Life Construction. They were very professional, organized, very good at their job, and we appreciated their integrity in all our interactions. They had different specialists come in for each phase of the project, which was a complete kitchen remodel with new KraftMaid cabinets, a new countertop and new kitchen window. All the specialists were friendly and got the job done in a timely manner with excellent quality. They were also very good about cleaning up. Some of the specialists that come to mind are Jason (demo), Cesar (electrical and plumbing rough out), Adan (cabinet installation), Ralph (resetting appliances and installing hardware), and Dale (finalizing all the cabinet trim). Our greatest kudos go to Junior, the project manager. He was friendly, organized, responsive, and a great person to work with. We want to thank New Life for their kindness throughout the project and we highly recommend them for any home project!!! read more

We had Kitchen remolded by Home Depot and the contractor they used for everything except counter top was New Life Construction. They came when they said, they cleaned up every day they were done. New Life Construction is AMAZING!!! We couldn't be more elated with our new kitchen. From start to finish our kitchen remodel was fantastic because of Justin Martos, our project manager. Justin epitomizes impeccable character and integrity. He holds his crew to the highest of standards too. We had no prior experience with Home Depots kitchen and bath remodel department but we were assured that the company would stand behind any work they do or sub out. The job started on time and finished on schedule. I know, shocking, right? If I could, I'd give these guys 10 stars! Justin's crew was courteous, respectful, and professional at all times. At the end of each day, our home was left spotless. Ralph, Danny, Jan and Johnny always came ready to work. You guys rock! Home Depot sent this company to install our cabinets. One guy showed up, and installed the cabinets level, but not square. Every one of the cabinets is racked, which means over time the drawers won't slide, and the doors will eventually become uneven and gap. A baseboard wasn't long enough to span the entire length of cabinets. Rather than hide the seam under the oven, where it wouldn't be noticed, the seam is under a set of drawers and very visible. We've pointed this out to Home Depot, and supposedly someone is will come out in two weeks (four weeks after the installation started) to fix everything. In the meantime everything is on hold, and we are without a kitchen longer and longer as a result of the poor quality of their work. read more

New Life has been nothing but a nightmare. Home Depot contracted with them to do our Kitchen remodel. We payed for a "premium installation" and got a less than mediocre installation. The material inspection missed 13 cabinet doors that needed to be replaced prior to installation. When we brought this to their attention, the response from Pat (a rep from new life) was "life is good, stuff happens." Due to mistakes made by Home Depot and New Life, my family (Myself, my wife and 6 kids) were left to live out of our garage for 9 weeks with only a microwave and small toaster oven to prepare meals. New Life responded by saying "Thank you for letting us know, now we can do business better in the future." They have refused to compensate us what we have asked for their mistakes and charged Home Depot 500.00 dollars for every time they have had to come and fix their own installation problems. Please steer clear of this company, they do not care about their customers and do not deserve your hard earned money. I would also question any review that praises this company yet does not have a photo attached to their profile. read more

We just finished our second renovation project with New Life Construction. Our first was a MAJOR project, (complete kitchen, master bathroom and downstairs powder room). This second project involved a very large walk in closet, (adding a window, installing floor and baseboard tile, re texture and paint), In the first project, the age of the house and work done by previous owners, presented a number of challenges in achieving what we envisioned. However, Justin and his entire crew were skillful and able to overcome every challenge! The project was finished within a reasonable timeframe. Every member of the crew was very responsible and kept us up to speed on the work being done. The results were even better than we had envisioned! The second project was not as big nor nearly as complex....but we had no doubt as to who we would turn to for the work. Justin and the crew gave the same level of care and professionalism as they gave our first project! It is obvious the entire company is dedicated to doing work of the highest quality! We have a couple more projects in mind and will again look to Justin and New Life Construction for our work! New Life Construction epitomizes the essence of the word, "professional"!!! read more

New Life Construction is the contractor used by Home Depot for my kitchen remodel. Pat Jr. was the job supervisor that kept me updated and the project moving forward. He and his workers are amazing. A faulty water heater flood and subsequent complications led to 6mos of reconstruction in my condo. Junior and his team at New Life were a bright light in a generally trying experience. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! They are at least double in price for demo and installation of cabinets. I have a tiny kitchen with seven existing cabinet boxes and they wanted $ 2,000 for demo. Unbelievable! To install 13 cabinet boxes and do some very minor plumbing they wanted $ 3,500. I am sure all of you out there can do the math, that is near $ 200.00 per cabinet for install and then minor (and I do mean minor) on top of that. I have had several other companies out for bids and the most expensive quoted me $ 700.00 for demo and $100.00 per cabinet for install. Also the minor plumbing was a very minimal charge with the other bids. Do your due diligence and you will quickly see that New Life is not the way to go. Home Depot (where we bought our cabinets) will try to talk you into using them but stay strong and get other bids. There is much more I could type about my experience with getting a bid from New Life but I have no more time to waste on them. Send me a message if you want to know more. read more

I have dealt with alot of construction companies and been screwed many times. I hired New Life because they work through HomeDepot. I felt this would provide me protection from the usual bait and switch estimates I have gotten in the past. IE-- the estimate is for $5k, but the bill in the end is $12k, etc. New Life stuck to their original estimate much to my amazement. They completed each phase of the kitchen remodel pursuant to the schedule they gave me. They did touch up work afterwards. We dealt with alot of sub contractors and the tile grout guys did an ok job, but within months, there were cracks in the grout from shrinkage. read more

1 star for competitive quotes- $5,000 more than the other 2 quotes we got for a kids bathroom. What a joke.

I decided to take the time to write this review as it is not everyday that you see exceptional service and performance in the construction industry. This was the 2nd kitchen we had to fully remodel into the 21th century. It was also the 2nd time we used New Life Construction. The project was run by Justin. Who did an amazing job start to finish with timeframes and great problem solving skills. It's great to see some people still take pride in their work. Justin did this along wth the skilled carpenters who performed work. Everyone on site was clean, professional, and timely. I can't express how much I appreciate the great work done by Justin and his crew. If you want quality work and service hire them. read more

I am an out-of-state condo owner, and I was promised by the Home Depot and New Life Construction, a seamless renovation project. This statement could not be further from the truth and I'm still waiting to hear if either company will honor their commitment to customer satisfaction. This company only cares about getting the cabinets installed and not about finishing up the job (trim, fillers, crown molding, etc...). They had to order more trim (which took over a week) and now that I have the trim (I'm going on day 3) and I need to wait till Monday (another 4 days). The job supervisor Don did a horrible job keeping an eye on the project and had no idea what needed to be finished up. For example... I told him that the fillers still needed to be installed he told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Considering this Company is recommended by the Home Depot I expected a lot more. I would never recommend this business to anyone. read more

I don't get these earlier reviews, as they are not consistent with my experiences, and we actually had a lot of work completed. We gutted and remodeled a full kitchen, raised the ceiling, added a gas line, put in all new lighting and plumbing, used contemporary style, added a new electrical panel, and so on. They were subs for Home Depot and that's a good thing, for warranty purposes. They are not the cheapest , but quality workmanship is worth it. Our site supervisor was Justin Martos and he was a wonderful communicator. No remodel gets done without problems, but the value I seek is how the contractor responds when something goes wrong. New Life usually took ownership of any issues and fixed them immediately. In fact, we had a potential problem long after the work ended that was not of their doing and they still came out to counsel us and suggest a solution. Homeowners need to take their share of the responsibility for communication issues and put their wishes in writing if they don't want confusion. read more

New Life Construction did a kitchen remodel for us through Home Depot. Every complex project will have problems and challenges. Hats off to the team at New Life Construction! New Life Construction was responsible for the installation of our kitchen cabinets ordered through Home Depot. From planning through execution, these guys were on top of things every step of the way. There was one tricky issue that could have required me to extend the soffit in the kitchen, but Enrique did a masterful job and I was able to avoid the extra work. Home Depot made a mistake in the ordering one of the drawers, but Justin and Enrique were able to resolve the problem in a professional manner, without delaying the installation process. The cabinet manufacturer shipped the wrong set of glides for one of the drawers, not once, but twice. But Justin was able to find a way work me into his crew's schedule, even though New Life had essentially completed it's work was not responsible for the problem. I was not sure what to expect from New Life Construction when I signed the contract with Home Depot, but I can say now without qualification that all of my expectations were exceeded. I would definitely use New Life again if I had the opportunity. So thanks again to Justin, Enrique, Rob, Don, Alex and all others that worked behind the scenes in making our cabinet installation a huge success. read more
