The food was very good! This is my first experience of an Indian restaurant outside of the USA. They give you OJ and papadam for free as soon as we got there. The main dishes were very flavorful. I got butter chicken and significant other got biryani (rice). My butter chicken didn't come with rice or naan so you have to offer that separately. The spice level is on the low side, but I'm okay with that. Overall definitely would recommend!! read more

It's always fun checking out Indian/Pakistani restraunts in our travels abroad because it always happens to be a pleasant surprise. If you read my reviews, you are familiar with how disappointing Indian and Pakistani cuisine is in Chicago. However, this rarely seems to be the case in our travels around the globe. We were pleasantly surprised in New Zealand of all places, and now, Paris. The cuisine at New Jhelum was fantastic. They bought out complimentary juices, papadum and an assortment of Chutneys when we first sat down. The menu is extensive and broken down by category which made it easier to order. We had the Aloo Gobi, butter chicken, peas pulao, and the jhinga masala (shrimp). The food was a slight departure from the norm but in the best way possible. I enjoyed the adaptation so much that I wanted to inquire what part of India/Pakistan the owner was from. Turns out, it was Lahore! It totally explained the differences! The portions were not stingy, especially with the shrimp, which in my opinion was quite generous and underpriced at 10€. The ambiance inside was comfortable, clean and actually romantic. There were quite a few date nights in session and we felt guilty toting our soon to be 3 year old with us. The service was attentive without being overbearing. Our meal ended with complimentary kulfi which was outstanding! Better than my mom's...I'll deny it if you ever tell her I said this ;). So, yeah, the meal ended with a memorable bang! If you love Indian and Pakistani cuisine this place is not to be missed. So glad that we stumbled upon this hidden gem on our third visit to the City of Light. We will be back whenever our travels bring us back to this magical city! read more

Could not ignore the way the receiver(Mr. Waqar) looked at me and must have thought..oh an Indian..where do we have him sit..he does not have a good showcase value so lets put him at back where no one can see him and showed me the back side of the restaurant where no one can see me and no one else was sitting..I requested otherwise of wanting to sit next to window..he relented and allowed me to sit along with the rest of human beings. At this point I had Mr. Talib come to my rescue. He help me order the food(At this time Waqar sahib were checking and taking orders from everyone else except for me). Talib did made me feel welcomed (offering onion salad for Briyani and tea) and food was great. In the end Waqar did check on me for food.. We were visiting from the US and had craving for Pakistani food. Checked Yelp and found this place. Great place and excellent food, where the owner is very cordial and takes care of all his guests. All the food items were awesome, especially the Keemah Matar, and pulao.. Had fresh Chappati too. Would be coming back before heading back to the US. read more

I have not seen customer service of this level anywhere eating out either in italy france spain or belgium. The food was exceptionally brilliant. The taste and the spices perfect as you would expect in an indian resteurant. Ambience was very good as well. Cherry on the top was the Kulfi. Cherry even on top was thr complimentary juice they serve when you get seated and milk tea in the end. The owner as well as the server kept inquiring us of our needs and recommended great delicacies when asked upon. When Im visitng again ill come here 100% again without a shadow of a doubt. read more

This was a wonderful dining experience with respectful, knowledgeable waiters that go the extra mile to ensure your dinner meets and goes beyond expectation. Our waiter was completely helpful and even explained some French traditions to us. THe food was fresh, delicious, and came out much faster than we had anticipated. This is the place to go if you'd like to have dinner with locals rather than tourists. We happened upon this restaurant because it was close to our hotel. We were thrilled from the moment we walked in. The service was impeccable and friendly. We were handed a glass of kir as soon as we sat down - a lovely touch by the host who is also the owner. Top notch service rivaled only by 5 star restaurants. The food was the best Indian food I have ever tasted. This meal was well-priced and far exceeded expectations. If I am in Paris again I would make a special trip to eat here.
