I can't wrap my head around how this place doesn't have 5 Stars. They could've slapped me with a pizza as i was paying and i would've still left 5 stars. We were driving back to our Hotel in Flagstaff after walking/hiking around(& in) the Grand Canyon so we were starving. The girls wanted pizza so i looked around and this seemed to be the only place that wasn't a chain so we wanted to try it out. As previously mentioned, the wait is typically 1-2 hours so you'll need to plan ahead and either bring an activity if you're dining in or order takeout an hour before you want to eat. I came here hungry from a long day of errands that overrode my being able to stop for meals. It was sleeting and cold, and despite the stunning "hour and a quarter" prep time (to take care of a line of high demand orders) the warmth flowing from Marco's voice over the phone convinced me this was an especially caring and friendly pizza shop and would be worth the wait. Also impressive was Marco's depth of knowledge on all the ingredients and how everything was prepared. Its a rare find to come across a pure tomato pizza sauce free of garlic and onion, and non-dairy cheese alternative on hand, marking this shop both traditional, and concious to customers with sensitivities. I went for the vegan pizza, dusted with a blend of olives, basil, mushroom, and pineapple and settled in, awaiting a courtesy call timed to the promise of receiving a "piping hot pizza." By the time I opened the box, the pizza had cooled down and was barely luke warm. Marco, apologized, explaining the usual ticket highlight to indicate notifications for courtesy calls was missed among a high traffic flow of orders, and kindly offered to remake the pizza, free of charge - in addition to letting me keep the first one! An ere of friendship and community flavors the Jersey Pizza Kitchen atmosphere, where customers wait patiently and are on a first name basis with the chefs - and, as a fellow east coaster, I enjoyed the opportunity to engage in friendly banter with Marco, reminiscing about his memories in NYC's thriving 80's and 90's club scene. In an extra touch of kindness, he gifted me two San Pellegrinos on the way out. It's no wonder he and his partners are celebrating multiple decades in business. My first thought when I heard the name of this place was "What is Jersey style pizza?" Does it get the Oompa Loompa Delux spray tan, oozes of Axe body spray and hangs out on The Shore while fist pumping a plenty? Or is it known for its inability to make left turns on the roads? Perhaps it's a real housewife. Anyways, if New Jersey style pizza is really like this restaurant's slices then I am a fan! I love New York style pizza which this tasted similar to and this shop definitely delivered on a good thin crust pizza. The crust was perfectly lightly crisp but with that slight amount of chew that allows you to fold it a bit. I also like how they use local high quality ingredients. Their sausage is from Shreiner's and the basil is also locally grown and very fresh. We shared a 16" sausage lover's pizza which came with freshly pulled mozzarella, sausage, onion, roasted red bell peppers, chilis, cheddar, parmesan, and basil. The flavors blended well together but for an item called a sausage lover's pizza I would have liked more of that delicious sausage. I also would have liked some more basil, which was cut into smallish pieces which made it harder to taste throughout the pie. The only other thing about this place that I find a bit weird is they are only open from 4-9. I guess I'm used to pizza places being open later, or having more extended hours. read more

We ordered a 12" and a 16" pizza last night and we were told they would be ready in 40 minutes. We arrived in 40 minutes and the owner or manager was training an employee at the register. After five minutes standing there not acknowledged, he said "we will be right with you". He preceded to make a salad and after another 5 minutes.. the cash register girl asked our name and said it will be ready shortly. We paid for our pizzas ($54 for a small and a large) plus tip was $60. I then noticed the pizza guy putting ingredients on a pizza that looked like ours. Yes, after 50+ minutes, he was now making our pizza and it would be another 10 minutes. We ran an errand and came back in 10 minutes and it was just coming out of the oven. It was our first time trying and were excited to try the pizza after the reviews (even if the wait was long). The cheese was yellow and greasy (like low quality cheese), but the sausage was excellent as were the caramelized onions. The roasted red peppers were almost non-existent on both pizzas and the ricotta was weak (but not surprising since that's common at pizza places). We don't mind paying premium prices for premium pizza as it is our favorite, but for $60 we expected way more ingredients. Don't overcharge and then skimp on the ingredients (especially after making us wait an hour). Primary a take out place as the sit down area is not very nice and not one person was in there. Better cheese and more ingredients would make this place a success... the crust was really good on the 12", but a bit too floppy on the 16". I hope they make some adjustments as this pizza could be awesome. Not so much now. read more

I always thought this was a front to a money laundering operation because they never seemed to be open and no one seemed to be in the parking lot. My time off finally aligned with their hours today and my wife and I were able to try it. Flagstaff has some very great pizza places but now that I've tried New Jersey Pizza Co I've realized what I've always been looking for. HOW DO THEY STAY IN BUSINESS??? I read the Yelp reviews about long waits, so when I arrived with my friend at 5:45 and only saw 1 couple in the restaurant we thought phew, we'll get our food quick! Not so...we did not get our food until 7pm!!! THIS IS INEXCUSABLE!!! Not sure if the food was good because by the time we received it we were so famished we just shoved it in our mouths! After the couple left, there were no other people in the restaurant and the only other business we saw was another set of people who came in for a to go order. Went to this joint in a last minute decision when the original place we were going to was closed. I am SO glad my friend and I decided to try it out. It can definitely be described as a "hole in the wall" - it is small, warm and with limited seating. The building itself could use a little TLC but it really doesn't matter because the food is AMAZING! We had some type of hummus platter with the "vegan ricotta" and it was absolutely divine. So many rich flavors - oh and the bread - the bread was so delicious. You could tell it had been baked there - yum! The pizza was a whole new level. My friend ordered a cheese and meat pizza which she said was quite delicious. I was so thrilled to find New Jersey Pizza, albeit a little skeptical, however they did not disappoint. Their wings are some of the best I've had. They use a high quality mozzarella. Their crust is fantastic, even re-heated. The dry chilis appear fresh and crushed on site. Parmesan is fresh grated. Love the crystalline bits in it. I have had a pizza delivered within a half an hour. They can get busy and as such the wait time for delivery can stretch. That, in my opinion - is worth it. Absolutely amazing pizza and ingredients. Melt in your mouth mozzarella and exquisite crust when you eventually get it. I've lived in Flagstaff for 20 years and love/crave NJ pizza when I can get it. Problem and blessing w the place is the 1-3 hour wait time. You will definitely get one of the best pies of all time, but you will have to wait for it. I don't mind waiting for quality, but do feel they could have streamlined the process a skosh within the last 20 years to get the product out a bit faster. I think that someone at New Jersey Pizza Co need to take note of how many people are talking about how long they take at this place for anything. My girlfriend and I went here today and we were just thoroughly disappointed after being excited for good pizza. Just sitting down, we had plenty of time to pick what we wanted... plenty of time because it took him a really long time to even come by and ask for our order. Our water came out eventually and it was warm with no ice.. bummer. Our cheesy bread took forever to come out. I have never ever waited so long for an appetizer, must have been 40 minutes. The whole time, the guy that was attending to us, never attended to us. He never stopped by to see if our waters were empty or if we needed anything. We just sat there and waited and did not want to drink warm water. the cheesy bread.. just ok. Definitely had better The pizza eventually came out. We got the perfecto. I just don't understand the consistency of this place. Their description of their specialty pizzas were different from their online menu and their menu they gave us, and their pizza was even different from that. I just noticed there were things on there that were not described in the menu. I was not complaining, but I do pay attention to details like that. It was a pretty good pizza. I liked how the thin the crust was, but nothing special and definitely not worth the time or the drive. Its not a very well ran business and even if the pizza is good, the customers should not have to deal with this. I also don't think I would order and pick-up here either. Sitting there in the lonely dining room, we keep seeing people coming to pick up their pizza and sit there waiting for a really long time. This place has a lot of apologies.
