My mother's Thai soup resembled nothing close to Thai flavours, so she exchanged it for the Broccoli Cheddar, and was horrified. It was brown in colour, completely watered down, and tasted like salty mud. We were so grossed out and disappointed that we just threw the food in the garbage and walked out. The ambience is generally quiet and peaceful; there is seating for around 30. Staff are competent and friendly and happy to accommodate. Four stars because five might be more appropriate for a high-end place. The Boxcar does not pretend to be what it isn't, but does breakfast and lunch very well, at modest prices. Definitely worth several return visits. And no, I'm not given to hyperbole...
