Jin Jin's was one of the first hidden gem place I've been to in Saskatoon! Seven years ago, my friend raaaaved about this small and quaint northern style Chinese restaurant ran by a lovely Chinese couple but spoke minimal English. I was quite excited as I was able to practice my Mandarin and try some authentic cuisine! I had a short but wonderful chat with the owner at that time and the dumplings were incredible I always longed to go back to try them again but I was told they had closed and moved back to China due to old age. Fast forward seven years later, I realized they're still open! (Or opened again)?? I never thought much about them since I heard about the closing so I never googled so imagine my surprise when Mr C and I walked by their huge poster above the building! I was super stoked to know they are still running their quaint restaurant and got an even wider acknowledgement for their hard work and amazing food Of course, Mr C and I had to stop by to try some of their dumplings again! it's one of the few times that I actually order meat dumplings And just as I remembered, it was perfect. They flipped it upside down when serving so the crispy part is upwards and just makes me drooool these are perfect bite size servings and no additional sauce required! As mentioned, it's still the same couple running the restaurant. The wife does serving, ordering and cashier work while the husband does the cooking in the backz it was absolutely cute seeing their teamwork and also #couplegoals! Okay back to food. I also wanted to try another dish besides dumplings so I got the Noodles with Tianjin Style Sauce. Unfortunately neither Mr C or myself enjoyed it as much but it wasn't bad! I did find the sauce a bit too salty so I had to thoroughly mix it with the noodles and made sure every bite of wood ear 木耳 and eggs had to have some noodles to balance out the flavours. I probably won't order this one again but for sure will try their other dishes Ps. BEST DUMPLINGS!!!!! Honestly I was TERRIFIED to go into this place. There was no one but the owner there. The chalkboard menu in cantonese. But they had an English menu, and I had done some "inter gram research" prior. I showed the owner a few snaps of what I wanted. These were the most delish dumplings ever!!!! And $9 for 20? I took some home to Vancouver with me and I can't wait to get them! Honestly this place is a true gem in Saskatoon! I'll be back! read more

delicious!!!! authentic Chinese food - the dumplings are great and the veggie dishes (mushroom with egg!) are too. The cabbage, tofu and vermicelli soup is so comforting. The walls are peeling, the chairs look like they are from the '80s, the owner speak little English, and the lack of a proper sign makes it difficult to notice if you aren't looking. But once you taste the food at this mom and pop hole in the wall, your life will be changed. There's no better real Chinese food in Saskatoon outside my mom's kitchen. This is real Chinese food and you will be coming back again and again to point at random dishes to try. read more

I have dined in many a hole in the wall. Experience has taught me that choosing to eat at places that look terrifying can go only one of two ways: horribly wrong or delightfully good. There is no middle ground to be found when the walls of a restaurant are unfinished and dirty, or if seating consists only of office chairs. In the case of this place, all the attention lacking in decor has been made up by the care and flavour put into the food. I am pretty sure the person serving us spoke to me only in Chinese, but we got through placing an order and nothing was lost in our experience with good service. You'd be hard pressed to find more friendly service anywhere else. We tried the plain pork as well as chive and pork dumplings. The serving was generous and tasty! I'm giving this place 4/5 because after walking in, I was genuinely unsure of how things would go. I waited 24 hours to make sure I didn't get food poisoning from my meal before I could decide how many stars to give. Turns out that though the interior is truly lacking, it is inconsequential to the quality of food and service. You'd think after dozens of experiences with things having gone very wrong, I would perhaps avoid places that don't look like they would pass an inspection for an occupancy permit. Alas, I'm a slow learner, but happy to say that this adventure turned out to be a delicious one. read more

Ok not lying this is the best Chinese food I've ever had hands down. And I live in china town in Toronto. Everything is made from scratch. The flavors are really advanced high quality food. apparently Canada's top chef guy who's from saskatoon hypes this place all the time. read more

Not sure how to rate this one. With 6 tables propped level with chunks of newspaper, dingy prison grey walls, and no air conditioning, it is a lot like the lunchroom on a construction site. Not the place to take guests or dates. Interestingly , it brought back memories of a lunch I had in Shenzhen China a few years back. Same atmosphere and the 35 degree day was just like Shenzhen. I ordered some dumplings and a noodle dish off of the tattered typewritten menu. The pork and cabbage dumplings were some of the best I have ever had. They appeared very handmade, not refined, but tasted very good. The Pork with soybean sauce on noodles was a dish I had not had in the past. As simple as it sounds, the fermented soybean paste provided the robust flavour for the spaghetti-like noodles and dried pork chunks. We had the lamb dumplings and the sliced pancake at this little family run hole in the wall that looks preserved in time . They were both delicious comfort food . The scallion pancakes we could have skipped . Will come here again for our dumpling fix read more

It's a drafty hole-in-the-wall, and the owner speaks absolutely no English, but there is some amazing Chinese food to be found here. Try the lamb noodle soup, the pork and eggplant, some dumplings... and whatever the owner points to on the menu. It's all so flavourful. read more

I went here with my sister and a dear friend of ours a week ago. She raved about the place and it did not disappoint. Absolutely wonderful schezuan style cuisine. Real Chinese food. We had the steamed dumplings, the stir fried green beans and minced pork and a noodle dish. My sister, who lived in china for 3.5 years, absolutely loved the food. Fabulous! read more
