This is our go to place. We have left the area but still drive all way to sip. Half fried chicken is one of the best in JC!

Jiang Nan - Jersey City

We have tried Jiang Nan at Fort Lee location so we were really looking forward to try JC location…read more It did not disappoint. Absolutely love the beef and potatoes. Very tender. Snow pea leaves are cooked beautifully. Fresh and seasoned well. XLB is not bad. Fried rice is good but I wish it has more shrimps. Pineapple beer (alcohol free) is surprisingly good. Nice pick up with all the heavy flavors. The restaurant is clean and modern. Reservation is highly recommended. The service is great. We went in as a big group. All items came out within 15mins. We ran out of space to place our dishes.

I had come across Jiang Nan a while back while looking for restaurants in Jersey City. Despite…read moretheir having several locations around the tri-state area, I had never heard of the place. However, it looked interesting and had amazing reviews, so I bookmarked it for the future. Well, we made it there recently and had a mostly enjoyable experience. We were able to secure a same-day reservation on a Saturday evening, so that was a good start. Once we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted and taken to one of the two empty tables available. The place was completely packed, and the food smelled and looked phenomenal. The vibe was casual, but full of diners on a mission to tease their palates with real Szechuan delights. The menu was very lengthy, so it was difficult to decide what to get. While we were trying to figure that out, we received a small bowl of a cabbage slaw that also included radishes, carrots, and diced chilis, all drizzled with a bright red chili oil. It was crisp, fresh, and packed the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. I distractedly picked away at the cabbage slices with my chopsticks while I continued to weigh my dinner options. I wound up going with their Braised Noodles with "Stir-Fried" Chicken and Eggplant in Spicy Garlic Sauce. I used quotation marks around the preparation method, because when the dish arrived, the chicken was actually heavily breaded and deep-fried. I was not at all happy about that, but I figured I would try and make the best of the situation. The lo-mein noodles were soft, tender, and might have even been homemade. They were perfect! The included eggplant was on the mushy side, but still tasty. However, the sauce was way too sweet. It was more like a sweet and sour sauce with no garlic perceptible, and it was not presented at the medium spice level I had requested. As I write that assessment, I am sure you are wondering why I gave the place 4 stars. Well, my dining companion also had those fantastic Braised Noodles, but with real Stir-Fried Beef and Scallions. Instead of a heavy, gummy sauce like mine had, this one was in more a light broth with a touch of sweetness from what I think was Chinese Five-Spice. Plus, the included meat was lean and had been thinly sliced. It was unique and delicious. I had also been impressed with the efficiency of the service, especially given how busy they were. I had high hopes for Jiang Nan and would not say that it completely disappointed; I think I just ordered incorrectly for my tastes, though the menu had been deceiving regarding the preparation. I would like to go back to the Szechuan spot and try either their famed Peking duck or some of their more unusual dishes like Chicken and Black Truffle Soup Dumplings.

Pickled Cabbage & Chili, and Sichuan Spicy Cold Jelly. The Fish Fillet soup was definitely the standout. I absolutely love this dish and order it each time we go for Sichuan food. I really enjoyed the way 62 Secret Kitchen makes this soup. The broth was nice and tangy but the pickles still retained some of their kick. The fish was super tender and the soup was loaded with meat and vegetables. I also really loved the Black Truffle Fried Rice. The beef was really tender and the rice was so flavorful and comforting. I just wish the truffle flavor came through a little more! The Spicy Cold Jelly was just okay for me. It was brutally spicy without much other flavor. The Garlic Morning Glory were super yummy and not too greasy. The leaves were still perfectly crunchy. The inside of the restaurant is so nice and sunlit in the early evening. We sat by the window, which I found really romantic. I loved looking out to the sidewalk and watching people pass by. I also think the service was top notch. Overall we had an amazing experience at 62 Secret Kitchen and would definitely return.

This place gets very busy. However, we were seated pretty quickly. The food is pretty good. The…read moresoup dumplings were pretty good but they were all on top of each other causing them to rip when trying to take a dumpling out. There's only 4 pieces in a tray, there's no reasons why they couldn't space them out. BUT this is my reason for the low score. My party of 3 was seated, we ordered our food. Then 4 tables by us were seated and ordered their food after us [parties of 2/3]. Those 4 tables all got their food before we did. Huh? Not only that, when we just finish taking the last bite of our food they were quick to come to us asking us to pay the bill. So they made us wait longer for our food and quick to make us leave? I then later noticed that the owner was wanting our table quick because some "VIP" came in to dine. They could also use more staff waiting tables rather than 1 person holding down the front of the restaurant AND sitting people. I don't know if I'll ever come back here. Or maybe just come when it's less busy. Or just come for takeout. I wish the customer experience and service was better. Otherwise, this would easily get 5 stars.

My wife did a stir fried vegan noodle bowl (with gluten free noodles); i did an extra spicy chicken noodle bowl. Both had a great depth of flavor and a sauce that clings to the noodles. The options of noodle width (extra thin to extra wide), spice level, and ingredient substitutions make it a great choice for takeout / delivery. And having lamb and crawfish choices make Dun Huang stand out
