Cucumber Salad
Deya M.

We had guests visiting in town and while we thought about going into NYC, we changed our mind after finding out that there was a NYC joint right in Jersey City! This was such a great find. They don't do reservations, but around 7:30pm on a Friday night, we only had to wait about 30 mins for a table. The ambiance inside is very cute, I must say. It is definitely suitable for a more casual date night and the service is so incredibly fast. We did family style for our meal and loved trying lots of different dishes: Cucumber Salad: 10/10, this is so flavorful and such a great palate cleanser for all the spicy food here! Mapo Tofu: 10/10, we frequently get Mapo Tofu at Sichuan restaurants, but dare I say this is the best one we've ever had? Okra: 10/10, so glad we decided to get a veggie! This was such a unique dish and definitely less on the spicer side. Green Peppercorn Chicken: 8/10, this was delicious, but a bit too spicy for me. I would warn against getting it unless you have a very high spice tolerance. Our group had an amazing time here and we can't wait to visit again soon!

First time in jersey in a long time and a friend suggested this place for their amazing Szechuan style food. A very popular spot so there was a walk-in waiting line, but overall the line moved pretty quickly. There was a nice quiet atmosphere for conversations and a nice distance between tables to separate diners. The foods that we ordered was delicious affordable and filling. the truffle fried rice was the the star of the dishes we had, very aromatic. The pork and cauliflower dishes were also nice to go along with the rice, highly recommend for good quality food.

Very delicious Chinese cuisine! We tried a couple of different dishes and they were all good, authentic (at least from what I can tell). The waiter let us know which dishes are spicey, which was nice in case we were sensitive. The restaurant is small and was busy that day, but the food quality was great and came out quickly. The restaurant was clean and very modern, with a calm vibe. Very nice for a date night!

Love this place -- their new winter dishes are SO good! The Sichuan eggplant is my favorite, seriously can eat it with just rice alone. The tofu beef stew comes in a sizzling pot, super fresh and numbing (in a good way). We also tried the hot liangfen -- never had stir-fried clear noodles before but it works! Sweet and sour ribs were great as a starter, and the sticky rice dessert was surprisingly filling. Perfect spot when you want comforting Chinese food in Jersey City. Ask for less oil/spice if needed, staff is friendly and flexible.

Overall: B // 4 stars One of the better Chinese restaurants in Jersey City with a wide variety of options that cover a good range of flavor palettes. I found the food to be generally taste and of quality. (Pork Belly: A) - Great appetizer that has a lot of flavor and substance. The pork is tender, and the cucumber with chili oil pairs well to have a balance between cooling and spice. (Truffle Cauliflower: B) - A surprising flavor combo that works; love the tender cauliflower thats truffle forward in flavor. (Crab Rice: B) - This rice has a delicate shellfish flavor coming from the tasteful crab; however, I found that the staff overmixed the rice after to the point that its much less palettable. (Beef in Sour Soup: A) - First time seeing beef in this dish, but the choice of fatty brisket works well in this broth to immerse it in a spicy, numbing, acidic soup. (Sweet and Sour Fish Filet: B) - Tasty dish that follows the crisp on the outside, tender on the inside paradigm. My only criticism is that some pieces seem to be absent of any fish. Food: +1 Presentation: +1 Price: E Atmosphere: E Service: E Menu: +1 Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

Came here on a whim on a Friday night as we didn't make any plans for dinner in advance. Because it was just the two of us, we got seated relatively quickly. This is a fairly efficient service. We ended up splitting a few items between the both of us, both large and small: 1) Bamboo Shoots: Really tasty and light. 2) Clear Noodles in Chili Oil: This had a great kick to it. I think it was one of my favorites. 3) Fried Noodles with Egg: We got this to complement the Ma Po Tofu. This was a good idea to complement the spice level as we needed it. 4) Mapo Tofu: Good, but admittingly very spicy. We had a decent amount left over and also had to order rice to balance out the spice level. Food does come out pretty quickly and they do try to get everyone out before close, which is a strict time of 9:30pm every night. I now know why it's quite popular though.

Really well decorated place with cool plates and a nice vibe. There's a lot to choose from here and I wish I had the opportunity to taste more than one thing on the menu. I tried the truffle fried rice and quite liked it. Even though it was a lunch special, the serving was enormous and the flavor was subtle and rich. Lunch comes with a side, which was a picked potato dish and a drink so it is a very good value. Next time I'd like to come with others and dine family style so I could try other dishes.

Hello again, I had this restaurant on my list for a little while and decided to go on a Saturday night. It was plenty of people inside but we got a table right away so that was good. Service was really good plus the food was excellent so that made our night. If you don't like spicy then you might not like it but I'm pretty sure they have non spicy food but I am always going to go for the spicy food. We start with the thinly sliced pork belly with some spicy sauce (it was served cold) and it was really good. I'm always craving fish on the weekend so I had to get the whole fish which was spicy just the way I like it. Me and my girl both agreed that we would go here again without hesitation.

I wish I tried Peppercorn station sooner! The food here is delicious and the service is great. On the service - The staff is extremely attentive and on top of it. No glass was left low on water, the place is BYOB and we brought a bottle of wine - our waiter brought us out an ice bucket to chill it in and extra cup, we were given extra napkins when needed without asking. The service was truly top tier. The food hit the spot too - Definitely pay attention to the side level indicators!! Clean restaurant, ample space. Will definitely be back!

friend recommended this place , came here for dinner as a group of 5 free street parking (may be hard to find in this area) we got seated as soon as we entered, loved the space & staff - super attentive and knowledgeable of the food options the food was absolutely delicious. we got about 5 dishes to share amongst all of us- for the most part you get pretty decent portions for the price. definitely on the higher end authentic chinese food restaurants in jersey. definitely recommend and will come again

Dry Chili Fried Chicken

To paraphrase Wet Hot American Summer, I lived in downtown JC so long ago that I can remember saying "sticks and stones may break my bones" and meaning it! I lived in JC so long ago that my first my Yelp friend was Frank Hague. I lived in downtown JC so long ago that I had a Zone 4 parking permit - for my horse. My former eerie-at-night neighborhood has changed quite a bit. The part where it feels less like Batman or Robocop at 9pm is good, the part about luxury housing not so much. But I'm glad new kinds of cuisine are available in the area. The Dry Chili Fried Chicken was intense. On Uber Eats I got the "mild" spice and "less salt" options and found it very fiery. Delivery was quick. With Peppercorn Station's interest in bold flavor I'll certainly try them again, perhaps something saucier. One more neighborhood note before I go: the area was featured in a scene in Ghost Dog. It was supposed to be scary and industrial in the movie, and back in that era it felt like that in real life also.

Loved my time dining here. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. The interior of the space also emulates the same vibe with the wood tones and natural lighting. I came during the holidays, and they had some minimal decorations up that just added to the happy warm vibes. The food was also delicious! You can tell from both the presentation and taste that there is a great deal of attention to detail that goes on behind the scenes. Honestly reminded me of a meal I would have in China. I'll definitely be back!

So close to Grove street station, I would highly recommend a visit! Last I came here, we were able to be seated right away. The food came out quickly and piping hot. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the price and portion... my party of 2 was able to finish all 3 dishes with no leftovers, when the norm is we would have some food to take home.. but who knows, maybe we just eat too much haha - Shishito pepper beef: 5/5, juicy succulent and tender beef mixed with the spice of the shishito peppers - Sliced beef: 5/5, great lean pieces mixed with tripe- very fragrant hot oil that coated the meat - Truffle rice: 4/5, a little gimmicky - truffle flavor was there but fried rice was on the mushier side. Would say it's ok to try, but I wouldn't order it again Nice interior design, the presentation of the food is worthwhile. that's all from me

The dishes are very unique in cultural sourcing - it's not what you expect of a regular Chinese restaurant. The servings are HUGE and good for 2 servings. The ambiance is not that great even though there's a big space and there was a lot of junk sitting around the place like extra stock of drinks and boxes all over the place. I don't think people really eat-in here. When I did takeout, it was still not worth the price of other similar restaurants in the area. Also this place doesn't have combinations sold together -- you have to buy rice on the side for EVERY dish which is not a traditional way to serve each dish in general. The prices here are not worth trying it - way overpriced and overcharged! Should be more affordable since we do not get the rice with the combination plates.
