    番茄鸡蛋套饭 + 青椒焖鸡套饭 - yumm

I've ordered takeouts from this place since the beginning of the pandemic and actually have never dined in before. And I've only ordered their rice sets and cold dishes so I can't speak of their hotpot. For their rice sets, they are packaged well in those bento style boxes and always come with a small black sugar jelly as dessert. I did think their chef might have changed at some point in 2021 cuz my once favorite hot pepper chicken tasted quite different and not as good as before. I still order from them a lot as I think they do taste authentic. My favorites now are the scallion marinated beef cold dish 葱拌牛肉 (tasted very authentic), stewed beef brisket with radish 萝卜炖牛腩 (tender beef and flavorful) and then lastly once my favorite but no longer but still not bad green pepper stew chicken. The marinated egg now is more just like plain boiled egg. Veggie is always cabbages.

All you can it on Mon-Thu only. Dipping sauce extra $1.5 per person.

Stay away and think twice if you ever decide to go to this place. Seriously, do your research, especially if you're not familiar with Chinese Hot Pot. This place a way overpriced hot pot with meh quality. Here are the few things to help you with your decision: 1/ They fricking charged for the DIPPING SAUCE!!! I mean, can you name a single place other than this place that charge for dipping sauce? See the attached receipt for yourself. 2/ They changed $10 for a single frozen BLUE CRAB!!! I get it's a restaurant so the price is marked up, but you can find fresh crab much cheaper in any hot pot place in Manhattan. And this is Jersey City. 3/ All you can eat is only available Mon-Thu, and they closed on Tuesday. Do your research before going, and good luck going on weekend. 4/ Unlike other hot pot places in Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens, this place has absolutely no ventilator, so you and your clothes will smell like hot pot as soon as you step in. 5/ Each item on the menu has two different prices: Member and Regular. But the owner told us that Member signup is not available. Look at my photos and see for yourself. We made a mistake of giving them money once. Never again.

We came here looking to get some skewers but they are only offering their hotpot right now. So I couldn't give it five stars. When you go to a restaurant expecting what they are advertising, and it's not available is a bit misleading. However, after trying the hot pot, we were pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure why other reviews were complaining about the portions. The portions of meat and sides were quite average compared to many other places. They were also very fresh. The service was good and the restaurant looked clean. It was nice and cool on a hot day. We ordered a premium lamb, grass land lamb, shrimp paste, frozen tofu, and some veggies. We chose a split pot with spicy and mushroom. I don't do spicy and usually do a tomato broth. I had to try the mushroom broth because it was different. It was very flavorful. We made our own sauce from the sauce bar but the only thing missing was leek sauce. We'd definitely come here again. It's convenient in downtown and very authentic. I hope we will get to see the skewers back soon so I can give it five stars.

We had a great meal there. We chosen the least spicy option but still was pretty spicy but enjoyable. Very flavourful broth!

Best Chinese BBQ in town. Meats are marinated and cut into chunks - you get the best flavor out of them.

The make a house sauce at the table, but the self-serve sauce bar has a bunch of the classic sauces, along with some fun snacks (kimchi, seaweed, prawn chips, taro balls, etc.) I really liked the chewy mochi texture of the taro balls. They all serve some complimentary chicken portions. The fish tofu, Napa cabbage, udon noodles, and Wagyu scallion pancake were all great as well. I'm also obsessed with the complimentary soft serve at the end--I don't normally like soft serve, but the milkiness of this one and the cone really hits the spot! I like how everyone gets their own small pot and can choose their individual broth. We walked in for three people at 6:15 on a Saturday (after calling ahead), but it was pretty busy by the time we left.

We arrived on-time and waited another maybe 5 mins for our table. No biggie. I really love that each person gets their own soup pot. Makes it much easier when you've got a variety of spice levels to deal with. Everything we got was fresh and good quality. The restaurant space itself is very nice and modern feeling. Pretty large with a variety of table spaces and sizes. Everyone we interacted with was friendly. Service was good and they were pretty busy but it was only felt in my drink being delayed from the bar (placed before we ordered any food but showed up only after food arrived. Husband's beer arrived super fast though fwiw) My only gripe is the menu on the iPad thing - there are no descriptions of anything (including cocktails). We kept trying to click stuff on the iPad to see the description, but it was adding it to the cart. It would be great if there were descriptions, so you could see more detail about each item before you order (at least for the cocktails). We ate à la carte but the AYCE was starting while we were there and it looked pretty dope. Lots of good stuff laid out in large qty. All in all we will probably add this to our hotpot restaurant list and will return again.

For their…read moredinner menu, you can do AYCE hotpot and bbq for ~$43pp, which also includes appetizers and some drinks. For alcoholic drinks, such as soju and beer, you can add ~$7pp for AYCD. The tables are spacious and the place is bright. We ordered a variety of meats and veggies for hotpot and bbq and it was alright. The hot pot is definitely better than the bbq as the meat quality was too fatty for bbq. Moreover, because they don't change the grills, the oils from the meat just pool onto the grill and the meats get really oily to eat after a while. We also got the fried chicken, spring rolls, and fried buns apps and I thought that the chicken and buns were good but the spring rolls were okay. The only thing I would have to say is that the service isn't the best. Although they are kind, half of the things we ordered never arrived or we had to constantly ask them to bring it out/check on our order.

I loved this place!…read more I came here on a late Friday night, probably around 8pm and was glad that they were still opened. We were greeted very welcomely and was seated right away. It was unusually cold in NY during this time (5/23/25) and initially we were seated by the door where we would catch the cold draft every time the door opened. We asked if we can switch seats and the waiter was more than helpful. I feel bad for not getting his name, because he was very helpful throughout the entire dinner service, but, I've been walking around in the cold all day and the only thing that was on my mind at that time, was a nice warm meal. I've done a lot of Chinese hotpots and this was the first that we get the soup and grill without a price difference. The selections were typical, some may say less than other places, but, I felt that less was better. When there is too much to chose from, you don't know what to pick or pick too much. The one thing that I did missed was fresh tofu. They had a variety of tofu but not fresh tofu. But, I probably shouldn't waste my stomach space on tofu for and AYCE, anyway, lol! We opt for an non-spicy and a spicy soup base. If you are like me and do not like mala (numbing spice), I would not recommend getting a spicy soup base. Even my cousin, that does like mala, said it was a little overbearing after a while. If you do love spicy, like me, they have a condiment station to make your own sauce and have several chili options to chose from that is not numbing spice. For the price and selections, I feel that it was very satisfying. I really enjoyed their homemade peach and kumquat lemon tea; but, order fast because once it's gone, you are out of luck! The place was clean and the noise level was average. I think this is the best Chinese hotpot place that I have experienced in USA and would definitely go back!

From the…read moremoment you sit down, you can tell a lot of care goes into both the ingredients and the broths--they're rich, clean, and incredibly well balanced. My favorite broth is the tomato, which is comforting and slightly tangy, while my close second is the spicy beef tallow soup for when I want something bold and deeply savory. Both are excellent and set the tone for an amazing meal. When ordering, I always start with fish balls and fish roe balls or the bouncy cuttlefish balls--great texture and full of flavor. From there, move on to fatty beef, but the real standout is the beef tongue. The texture is incredible--tender with just the right bite--and it's a must-order. The tripe and fresh tripe are also favorites of mine: perfectly crunchy without any unpleasant "innards" taste. Don't skip the fried tofu skin roll--it soaks up the broth beautifully, but pro tip: dip it for only about 20 seconds and take it out so it doesn't turn into a soggy mess. Enoki mushrooms are a crowd favorite and always a must, and adding corn gives a nice pop of sweetness. To really make the most of the broth, add yam noodles, rice cakes, udon, or ramen--you can't go wrong with any of them. Round out the meal with fresh cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, and watercress for balance and freshness. And save room for dessert--the mango dessert is my favorite way to end the meal and works perfectly as a palate cleanser. Bonus points for their birthday special, which makes celebrations even more fun. Overall, Laojie Hotpot delivers consistently great food, quality ingredients, and a satisfying hotpot experience every time. Highly recommend.
