I love my technician! I moved to this salon after her. But the owner/manager is money thirsty. She quoted a walk in $75 for a dip mani for which I was paying $65 since moving there. The customer left after hearing the price and rightly so! She just raised the price on her on the spot. By the time my mani was done she also charged me more $70! She raised the price during my mani!!! I found that so unprofessional!!! Post your prices and stick to them! This experience left a bad taste in my mouths I am torn now because I want to go to my technician but I'm not getting ripped of by the boss lady inventing her prices depending on her mood. read more

Meh. If every other nail salon within a 25 mile radius ceased to exist, then, and only then, would I CONSIDER returning to this salon. The staff was okay. Typical salon where they proceed to talk about you, directly in front of you in another language. Avoid the older woman. She was sloppy with painting my nails, then used the cuticle clipper to take off skin where the polish had dried. Also she did a terrible job trimming my cuticles. Tina and her crew have transformed a ho-hum but serviceable spot into a pleasurable and well supplied nail salon. The crew is friendly and seem genuinely glad to see you, and even recognize you when you return. The waxing room is spotless and the manicure equipment is sanitized and in individual packages opened only for single use before being sanitized again. Most importantly the work is incredible, especially considering the very reasonable pricing. I have been back three times since the new management took over and will go back as long as this team is there. Any port reviews relate to its previous incarnation. Not good at acrylic and rude. I repeatedly asked the tech to stop ripping my broken acrylic nail off and she refused. I repeatedly asked her to file it off and she refused. She then refused to do my nails. Never going back. they do not care about nail care and don't care if a customer says that something is hurting. Worst mani/pedi ever. Nail technicians are unskilled and are not thorough. The girl who painted my nails couldn't have been any older than 13, and it shows. There was polish on my skin and on the flip flops I wore to the salon. And when I asked her to remove it, she got annoyed. Additionally, if the polish they used on my nails is any indication, they dilute their products (see photo). The massage chair is great, but that was really the only positive about this place. I've had plenty of great $25 mani/pedis in Philly, so the "you get what you pay for" adage is a bunch of crap. This is definitely a place to avoid. read more

Visited my friend in Mt Airy and decided to check out the new nail place. While she had a decent experience with a regular French mani I got the worst gel manicure of my life. The old lady got mad because I didn't choose a color right away, then an hour and a half later she completed the worst mani job ever. She literally would paint a nail and put it under the lights. One by one. The end result...boredom and super thin polish where you can see every stroke, see through my nails and polish on my skin around my nails. While the price is good ($20) I certainly won't be back. If it didn't take so long I would have asked for her to re-do it!!! (not to mention it chipped and two of my nails broke within 48 hours....must be a fake gel manicure or something???) read more

I've gone to several nail salons in the area and New Happy Nails is by far the best. The staff are amazing and super friendly. The atmosphere is positive and the shop is very clean. Jenna is the technician that I go to but, you will be happy with any of the ladies. They are all professional and good at what they do... manicures and pedicures. Unlike other shops, they take extra care in providing each client with individualized care and pampering. The first time that I received a pedicure here, I was totally amazed by the fact that it wasn't rushed and the foot and leg massage was like no other pedicure that I've had in the past. My manicures are always done with care; the polish last for weeks, and I get compliment after compliment. I saw that someone complained that the prices were too steep, but you get what you pay for... quality. If you are looking for a nail shop that caters to your Mani/pedi needs, look no further. This establishment is under new management/ownership and I absolutely love it! The renovations are beautiful and the bathroom was beautifully updated. Have gone to this location in a pinch to get a quick manicure. Every time I went, just before I would get a clear coat of nail polish they would ask me to pay. I though they did not have a cash register. Each time I went everyone else would always be in the process of getting work done so I never saw anyone pay. On what would be my last visit there, I saw several people pay. As they finished their services they went to the cash register. What a sock, they do have a cash register. Before I could get over my sock I was once again asked to pay before my clear coat. Everyone else paid at the register, (a white women, teen girls, black woman.) I will never return and will support locations were everyone is treated equally! read more

New to the neighborhood so I tried this place out. Me and my two small daughters went on the Saturday before our vacation and by Wednesday my daughters nails were off and toes were chipped. I called the next Saturday when we got back home, I was told to come back. I get to the salon and was told there would be a $30.00 (each) charge after I was already charged $120.00 for my two daughters to gel get nails and toes ABSOLUTELY NOT! And then I was told that gel nails don't last in chlorine water, then I was told that my daughter's nails were to short, and then i was told I didn't tell them that we were going swimming, I was given EVERY EXCUSE as to why their nails only lasted 4 days. After spending $240.00 for us three to be serviced and then ask to spend another $60.00 to repair their mistake is insane. My pedicure was RUSHED, it's took a total of 20 mins including polish. Just a cheap experience with an expensive cost. read more

Sure, there are a bunch of fancier, higher priced nail salons a few blocks up the street, but if you are looking for a basic, no frills mani or pedi - this is the spot. I went there last week for a pedicure. Was seated right away, the staff were polite, got a basic but thorough pedicure (including foot and leg massage) for $20. It's clearly a family business it's obvious and they all work there, so you can feel good knowing your money is going directly to the people you see working. A week later and my pedicure looks as good as it did when I left. Will be going back again many times. read more

Lousy atmosphere, unskilled technicians- that sums it up. I could look past the duct tape on the floor and the vague smell of mildew permeating the air if I got a really great pedicure, however that was NOT the case. The main reasons I get a professional pedicure is 1) to have all the dead skin and overgrown cuticles thoroughly removed, and 2) to have the nails perfectly shaped and painted. This pedicure was a fail on both counts. The woman who did my pedicure was unskilled with the cuticle cutters and sloppy with the polish. The one positive thing I have to say is she did spend a good amount of time with the pumice stone on the bottoms of my feet. Other than that, it was essentially a waste of $20; I really could have done a better job myself at home and I'm certainly no nail professional. My little sister came in to town for her birthday and had to fix a horrible acrylic job. My bestie and I met up here to get our nails done and she always had a great experience with her acrylics so I decided to bring her here. Since I wasn't sure of the nail color selection, I bought my own two colors and decided to still browse thier colors just in case I saw something that caught my eyes. I used one of my own nail colors for my toes. I chose one of their nail colors for my fingers. While doing my finger nails, they asked to see my OPI color. I said sure... Just thinking that they wanted to see what color it was. I put it on the table, then they started talking in whatever language they speak about it, and I turned back to talking to my sister. She finished my nails and told me to go to the dryer and as we got up, I put my nail polish back into my bag. Well imagine my surprise when she said that it's hers. Um, no. It's mine. I'll take mine out, but you go see for yourself. This is my color that I paid 8 bucks at target for. She proceeded to snatch it out of MY hand and I snapped. I said, GIVE ME MY COLOR. After she was told by another lady working there that Lincoln Park After Dark was in fact accounted for in their inventory, she proceeded to check and make sure every other color that they may have had was there as well too. No apology. No reassurance that it wasn't personal. This was probably the most unprofessional thing that I have ever experienced, and I've gone to some pretty "ghetto" nail salons. I will never ever go back and I urge everyone to avoid this place at all costs, or at the very least, don't bring your own nail polish. read more

My nails were in really bad shape this morning and my regular nail salon was crazy busy. I decided to check this place out since I didn't have time to wait. I just got a gel manicure, no extras. It was fine and looks good, but no fantastic. The disappointing part was the lack of massage. She just put some lotion on my hands and called it good. $20 for the gel mani, so the price is pretty good. You can pay AND TIP with a credit card. I'm not about to make this my regular place, but I got the basics covered. read more
