I went in this morning for both massage and pedicure. My sister-in-law has been going there for years, so I had high expectations. My massage was heavenly. The masseur couldn't have been nicer or more knowledgeable. He also used perfect amount of pressure. My pedicure, on the other hand, was absolutely sub-par. While my nails look good, but feet do not at all. I should not still have rough skin after soaking and treating them. I wish I'd realized at the time that she was being lazy and skipping the exfoliation almost entirely. Now I have to go to the beach with calluses still on my feet. The staff is as sweet as the candy they put out in bowls throughout the spa (let's hear it for Hershey's miniatures!) and they always do a good job. Plus, you'll get a mini-massage with any service you book (usually involving hot stones...ahhh). Just thinking about relaxing in one of those crazy futuristic massage chairs and getting a 1 hour pedicure makes me feel all tingly inside. Worst experience ever! The technician was rough with my cuticles, filed my nails unevenly, and didn't fully polish my nails. I complained and she fixed my nails to some degree, but they still did not look as good as they should have looked for the price I paid. I still made another appointment because my previous technician did a great manicure. I am so glad that I found this place. My boyfriend and I were in need of a pedicure date. I had tried a few places in the area and hadn't been completely satisfied. I got on Yelp and found Diamond Spa and decided to give it a try. The service was incredible. We called ahead and made an appointment. When we walked in, we were greeted and asked to pick a color. Then our standard pedicure began. Diana and Sara did an awesome job. Both of us are extremely ticklish and basically laughed the whole time. They were so patient and kind. My technician was very nice and that's the only reason why I'm giving two stars. Incredibly expensive for really nothing special and on top of that, I had to wait 40 min past my appointment time. I called Monday morning to make a Tuesday morning appointment. I'd like to point out there was no one else there when I arrived... first customer of the day. I get there and they refuse to accommodate me because I did not specify that I wanted gel polish. I rarely get my nails done. I did not know that I need to specify what kind of polish I wanted. And honestly, if it is such an important piece of information when scheduling I think it should be their responsibility to ask. I am very disappointed. When DS first opened the original OWNER was adorable. Very professional, nice, clean, and sociable. I recommended a lot of friends too. Then the owner left to open a new spa in another city/town. I can back last year (2011) and was slightly greeted by the short asian manager. Came back this April 2012 to receive a pedicure and the woman (asian manager and the man were (short and kinda rude). I shook it off and returned today, May 2012. Today i felt really shorted. I arrived early, and they both were rude the woman manger more so. I SAT AND WAITED! I just feel they are more nicer to caucasians than african americans. Pros: Pedicure was awesome with a long foot massage included. Cons: The manicure I received was the worst i've ever had. I don't usually like to criticize staff by name, but would make a definitely exception in this case: JENNY was awful - aggressively cutting my cuticles, I asked her to please cut less, yet she kept i up and within a minute she took a large chunk of my actual skin off the top of my ring finger. I was bleeding so badly that I had to apply pressure for a few minutes. She barely apologized and told me to "go pay first" and then she'd apply polish when it stopped bleeding. Ridiculous. My first time here was awesome. Quiet atmosphere, wifi and a great pedi is just what every girl needs. My sister and I were greeted promptly when we arrived and they accommodated us even though we were late. We did give a courtesy call as it was an usually busy afternoon in Chestnut Hill. There's a nice selection of gel and regular polishes to browse while in the waiting area. The pedicure was lovely. It wasn't rushed & my technician was meticulous. She actually listened to my request. The massage part of the pedi was more than adequate. All of the equipment appeared to be sterile and being used properly. No double clipping and ripping at this place. Also, you receive a complimentary shoulder massage with a manicure complete with a hot stones. At nine (9) months pregnant, my husband and I attempted to have a final manicure and pedicure performed at this location. Sadly, instead of greeting us warmly on one freezing raining dreary Sunday, as we walked into the establishment the attendants stared at us blankly. They did not, after several seconds, speak. After several seconds and still no greeting, a woman with glasses and long black hair advised that we were "too late" and that we would only be able to receive an "express manicure". When I asked why we had not been greeted and still why the only comment to us was that we were too late, the woman with glasses ignored me and an older woman turned and walked away from my husband and I. Honestly, I was shocked by the overt disrespect that we experienced in such a short period of time at this establishment. Even a woman working at the location looked at us and the woman with glasses with raised eyebrows as if she too could not believe the behavior. It is sad to think that in 2019, this kind of discrimination is still somehow acceptable. I encourage anyone considering this location to decide against it! Even if you receive better service than we did, the fact that this establishment chooses to treat CERTAIN people in the manner that I described above is enough to make them in an acceptable choice. read more

I just had my first Brazilian Wax experience with the technician Julie. I just wanted to report that I am not happy with the service. 1. It is my understanding that a full brazilian wax includes the entire genital and perirectum area. Julie asked my if I wanted the rear area done. I feel that should have been assumed, and when I talked to other people about it, I was also told that I should have been repositioned on the table to get better access and better results for the area. 2. I also understand that no area should be re-waxed, or have skin areas waxed more than once. Julie went over several area 2-3 times. 3. I didn't expect any tweezing. It is my understanding that there should not have been any tweezing involved, and frankly it was worst part of the entire experience. I understand that shorter hairs are harder to wax, but if the hairs were short, it was because she trimmed them to short before beginning. I came to the spas with 2 months of full growth with no shaving or cutting. 4. I have now paid for and had a full brazilian wax, but still have errant hairs that I have to tweeze myself, or shave on top of newly waxed skin. read more

This review is for Diamond Spa's massages. My mom and I made an appointment to get 60 minute Swedish massages. My massage therapist was good but I should have specified to go easy on my back and easy all over. I prefer a soft massage to the intense workout my back received. I was more concerned for my mom's back because she has injured it in the past, so I spoke to her therapist about it before he got started. He did an amazing job on her. I believe he was the owner or manager and he was very good at customer service. I would go back here, but I would definitely arrive right on time because there is no place to relax prior to your massage away from the nail stations. read more

Diamond spa is my go-to place whenever I want a manicure or pedicure! The atmosphere is relaxed, and the technicians take their time with a nice massage so that you feel really pampered. I've been to various local places for pedicures, and this is my favorite. The technicians give a great leg massage, with hot stones as the final portion. There is usually soft music and a cooking show on subtitles in the background, and the massage chairs for pedicures are comfortable. My nails have also generally looked great and have lasted as long as I'd expect without chipping. Manicures come with a short back massage as you sit drying your hands, but some of the technicians seem to skimp on this portion -- it can be frustrating to have a technician who completely skips your massage, while another person next to you gets a nice 2-3 minute back rub. Be sure to ask for your massage if your technician tries to skip it! If you are free on weekday afternoons, be sure to go then: you get complimentary wine, tea or coffee during your pedicure. There's also a discount for paying in cash, and a member system where you can accumulate points each time you visit and eventually get discounts. I came across Diamond Spa by accident the other day. My sister was in from out of town and I wanted to treat her to a pedicure. I had planned on going to 3000 BC for a pampering session, but once we were there, we were notified that they no longer to any nails! So we walked across the street and found Diamond Spa. What a great place! For three people, and no appointment, they were able to accomodate us right away. The massage chair is great and so relaxing. The basic pedicure included scrubbing, trimming, massage, and a hot stone massage. It was heaven! The people are also very nice, and not overly chatting, which can be annoying if you're just trying to relax. They were playing the food network which is one of my favorite channels. Everything was clean and tidy, and the spa had a calming environment. I will definitely be checking it out again for massages and facials! read more

The experience I had today was pretty atrocious--given how they market themselves (and price themselves). I got the kind of poor service and poor quality I might expect at a strip mall nail salon in a not so nice neighborhood. My friend and I went for two mani/pedis. We were a bit late (maybe 10 mins). This was at 2pm on a week day, there were lots of free tables and chairs. We were picking out our colors and the first technician very brusquely approached us and said, "are you ready!? I'm waiting!" She was rude. The woman who did my pedicure used absolutely no pressure whatsoever during the massage. The woman who did my manicure scraped ridiculously hard on the tops of my nails and pushed the cuticles down way too far, cut too deeply, and still left my fingers looking raw and jagged. The hostess was short and unfriendly. I would not go back even if this place was a bargain. But! On top of it all! they market and pricing this salon like its very fancy with top notch service. My bridal party and I visited this salon in June 2013 to have pre-wedding mani-pedis done as a group. It was a great experience! The owner and staff were extremely accommodating and accessible leading up to the day - which was important because we had 8 people and had some "maybes" until a day or two beforehand. It was one of the few places in the greater Philadelphia region that could accommodate a group our size. We received a group discount (if we paid cash only), which was very reasonable! I can be a bit squeamish about cleanliness but this place was very clean and I felt completely comfortable. Also, all of our nails looked great. We were a happy bunch of customers! Went in today for a bikini/upper leg wax a couple of weeks ago. I'm terrible at maintaining these, so it's never fun. The bikini wax was very well done. Yeah, it hurt a little but eh, not bad and she did a thorough, careful job. However, the leg wax really hurt. I've had them done before, and at one place I practically fell asleep. Here I had sore skin. I also found missed spots when I got home. All in all, I'd consider going back for a bikini wax in a pinch, but that's it. I moved here from CA and was struggling to find a good person.She gives me the best pedicure that I have ever had. I was a loyal customer of this salon for a year - coming in every two weeks to get gel refills. My tech Julie was good but I found the managers to be rather chilly and not customer service oriented. My sister used to own a nail salon in Germantown so I understand salon etiquette,services,etc. But I am very laid back and never dictate how services should be administered unless I feel that I have to. I also give salons a wide berth because I feel it takes time to learn a customer's desires. The managers are among the worst I have experienced. It took Roy the manager over two months to speak to me and acknowledge me by name. One time I came in for a Polish change before a job interview and to my surprise, I was charged $14 via Jan the other manager although I was quoted a lesser price by the tech The final straw for me - my tech Julie (who I've been using consistently fo at least eight months) jacked up my refill just a few days before my wedding. I never complain and always tip at least 20%. At first, I thought my eyes were deceiving me until I got home and saw how crappy they looked. After debating with Julie, she finally did my nails over and they looked a lot better. But she cut me with the drill and I was charged an additional $25 on top of the $42 I paid earlier in the day. I also have to begrudgingly agree with a previous reviewer about their treatment towards African-American clients. It's something I sensed but it became more apparent as time went on. I've noticed their African American clientele has dropped off dramatically - and now I understand why. I guess I chose to deny their behavior because I got so many complements on my nails and I didn't want to believe they could be bigoted. But after observing how they are so gracious and accommodating they are with their White clients and how African American clients do not receive the same level of service/treatment, I decided that I cannot return to Diamond Spa. read more

Apparently, her clients were getting superior customer service and giving them the treatment and time that they pay for and he didn't like it.
