We called for emergency help and were told that they couldn't come for a few days. We explained we had an annual service contract. NEGenerator installed my whole house unit about 8 years ago and have always had good results whenever needed. I do my own service so not on their routine customer list. However, whenever I have needed any help they have been great. Recently had a surging problem that only occurred during scheduled exercise. Kelsey spotted the small broken spring from servo to carburetor right off and we got a replacement. Great Service Technicians are the key to great service and well worth the service fee. They left such a mess with sawdust all over, things thrown out of their way( I would have happily moved things in advance had I known what they were doing) , wires aren't straight ( not necessary but messy looking) requests by worker for payment minus an invoice, and a whole lot underestimated! Job took 3 days instead of one. I called the oil business which had recommended them and was told to call the owner. I left a message which was never returned. So far, the generator worked when I had one power failure. read more

New England Generator has been the worst vendor that I have ever delt with. In the past 8 weeks, I've been trying to get them to my home (in Marshfield). I purchased a new system from them last year. They were late on delivery and took three days longer to install than stated. The first time I lost power, the generator came on, and blew three of my breakers. This is where the fun starts. I contacted them, they scheduled me 6 weeks out. When they came, they were not able to address the issue. Then, they reschedule. Again, and again. Now the fun part. I will continue my post on my worst experience with this company. I have dates, times, pictures, emails and videos why not to use them. Update: After I've called over 7 times in three days and requested a quote vs. an estimate to fit the problems, I was contact by New England Generator. Today, they stated that why wanted to drop me as a customer, after I paid them 19K last year for the generator and hookup. They state that they did not want to work me, because I posted a negative post to social media. Buy beware. Do not post a negative review for New England Generator, or they will drop you as a customer. read more

They had my generator monitoring and because I switched credit cards , they dropped me without telling me. I got A red light indicating it needed service. Due to their unreliability and callous attitude, I chose another competitor who would always call their client to let them know of a service interruption whereas these guys do not. Time to move on! read more

Installation was great and Koehler generator works beautifully. Customer service is not great. Called to get key to open generator. Said cost was $5.00 to replace. Would have been okay with that if I had received one at install. Asked to speak to supervisor and for her email so I could document my request. Refused to give email or send out key. Very disappointed that with the thousands of dollars I spent to receive such treatment! Will be looking for new company for yearly service. read more

The generators that NE Generator install are good. Their service is lacking from A-Z: They will not honor their estimate, and be very creative as to why they had to charge you almost 50% more. They will destroy your driveway, your walkway, your garden, your patio. Their contract does warn of minor landscaping work to be left for you after their generator installation. In our opinion, that does not include foot-deep trenches and washed-out sand all over the lawn. We have two electric meters - one of them is not working anymore now. NE Generator promised to fix all of these damages, in five emails, if we counted right. Lots of words - nothing happening! Bottom line: we are faced with another couple of thousand dollars to clean up after their mess. Not a pleasant experience at all! read more

New England Generator recently installed our 14KW Kohler Generator. The entire process from ordering, permit sourcing, installation and communication from start to finish was superb. Every person we dealt with including sales, installers, plumbers, electricians and project manager were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. If you want a turnkey generator properly installed with all permitting, we highly recommend New England Generator. PS this is install was a bit complex because it was ocean front and needed additional flood plain and conservation permits. New England Generator made it easy! read more

New England Generator installed our Kohler 20 kw stand-by generator about 8 years ago and have maintained it ever since without an issue.. During this last October No Name 2021 storm,we lost power on and off 5 or 6 times during the first night and the generator performed perfectly. At approximately 3:30 am, the generator failed to come on line.. at 5:30 am, I noticed that the 75plus mph winds apparently blew the cover open.. the entire inside was soaked. I called New England Generator and they assured me that tho they were extremely busy, they would come.. At about 7 :30 pm. 2 techs arrived they troubleshot the issue quoted me a repair cost and had us back up running in 30 minutes.. the techs obviously had been working straight out all day , but they were polite, professional and got the job done in minimum time in the dark in hurricane conditions. I highly recommend New England Generator for any back up power needs. Everyone including the office staff are top notch and know how to treat and keep customers. Joe Leahy read more

WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABYSMAL! The customer service is terrible, Beth was incredibly rude and dismissive. Timeline 1. 2018 New, expensive Koehler whole house generator installed 2. 10 months later we have a two day outage, generator works for 20 hours then konks out. 3. Very nice serviceman comes, has to simply reset something, tells us he has many other calls this week with the same issue and suggests we should not pay for service call ($100) 4. We have repeatedly try to explain this to NE Generator (Beth) who told us "Koehler isn't reimbursing is so you have to pay". Extremely rude, we asked multiple times to speak with owner to no avail. You may see this (very long, sorry--I wanted to be thorough!) review on a few different websites but I thought it was very important that I share my experience with NE Generator since they will have cost me several thousands of dollars in damage due to gross incompetence and negligence. They ruined my barely-used Kohler generator and after I asked them to rectify their mistake (which two other companies have confirmed was definitely their fault) they brushed me off. My wife and I moved into our new home about 2 years ago at which point the Kohler generator (that we were thrilled to now own) immediately broke down and required servicing. Neither of us had owned a generator before so we were surprised to find that a simple service call and tune up was going to cost us about $200-$300. We called NE Generator since they had been the ones to install it for the previous owner and though they were more expensive than most we decided to go with the company that would be most familiar with the system. It turned out to be a simple fix and they just needed to update the firmware to get it running again. As part of service call, they also ran diagnostics and changed the oil and filter. This is where things went terribly wrong. A few months later, the generator broke down again. We called NE Generator, described the error code we saw, and asked them to come take a look at it. They weren't able to schedule us in a reasonable amount of time so we had a different company come out instead. This technician came out within 24 hours and quickly determined that the generator was dead. It turns out NE Generator's technician did not properly install the oil filter and the filter literally just disconnected. When the generator next turned on, all of the oil completely blew out (it was all over the generator and surrounding grass). Running without any oil caused the pistons to fuse to the cylinders and effectively destroyed our generator. We had yet another company come out to give us an additional quote and they confirmed that this was definitely due to NE Generator's faulty work. I want to make it very clear that I'm not out to get NE Generator. I was really hoping we could get our generator fixed under warranty and just bypass dealing with NE Generator again. Unfortunately, both companies had made it clear that this catastrophic failure was definitely caused by NE Generator and because it was considered a "human error" it wouldn't be covered under warranty. We had no other choice but to reach back out to NE Generator. We simply asked them to fix the generator since their technician obviously caused the problem. However, they refused and claimed that (1) we hadn't been doing regular maintenance on the machine and (2) the error message we originally reported to them did not indicate a catastrophic failure. These arguments made no sense though: first, NE Generator had broken the generator before it was due for annual maintenance, so of course we did not schedule it. As for the error message issue, the two other companies discovered the generator actually reported two errors at the same time though it only physically displayed the one (hence we only reported the one). The second error was definitely an indicator of the fused engine, but NE Generator never bothered to come diagnose the problem so they never saw it. When we explained these things to NE Generator, they simply blew us off. Now we have no choice but to look into taking NE Generator to small claims court, but in the meantime we wanted to get this review out there in the hopes that other people aren't put in a similar situation. Their website (as of 2/23/2020) states "New England Generator takes tremendous pride in making sure our customers are 100% satisfied with our sales, service and installations." and yet this is clearly untrue since they wouldn't even bother looking into our problem which they so blatantly created. I would highly discourage anyone from using this company to install or service your generators. Not only are they expensive to begin with, they won't stand behind their service, and you could end up in a similar situation as us: with a destroyed, barely used generator and out thousands of dollars to get a new one. read more

New England Generator did a top notch job installing my backup generator. I was pleased with their process and the finished product. Beth went out of her way to make sure my needs were addressed. I am a particular customer and details matter to me. The New England Generator team's work was level, straight, plumb, sharp. No sloppy craftsmanship. My Kohler 20kw RESD is a dream and I hope to enjoy backup power during the inevitable outages in the future. I highly recommend New England Generator. read more

When you've had whole house standby generators for more than 10 yrs. you expect automatic switchover to generator power whenever there's a blackout in Scituate (happens quite a bit). During a recent outage the generator didn't automatically start up. At 11PM New England Generator answered the support line. As we were on the call power came back. They came out within 48 hrs and determined the battery had died after 5 yrs and had to be replaced. They did that and completely checked the system. Their support is as good as their initial comprehensive installation which is why we continue to highly recommend this company whenever you need sales or service on a whole house standby generator. read more
