Buying a mini-split system is an incredibly difficult process. The Mass Save rebate system is very…read moredifficult to navigate. I got quotes and presentations from 4 different vendors and the pitch and price was exactly the same - hour long presentation and a $30k cost. However, what each vendor tells you is that IF you qualify a $10k rebate is available and your net cost is $20k. Essentially the rebate is a scam - it just gives contractors the ability to inflate the prices and use the rebate to make the system sound cheaper than it really is. I finally met with McIver and he was able to simplify the entire process. He is not a Mass Save contractor. So he does not work the rebate, just offers a strait-up cost to install the system. When he gave me his quote, I quickly figured out that Dan McIver was an honest man and that the whole Mass Rebate program was a scam. His quote with the similar equipment and the same number of mini-splits was $13,500. I hired him for the job and they started within a week. One of my biggest concerns was esthetics - I was worried about too many refrigeration lines running around the outside of the house. Our house is a rental property in Cape Cod that had a lot of charm to it and we did not want to ruin the integrity of it. Dan came up with a brilliant solution and was able to run most of the lines through the basement to minimize the lines on the outside of the house - we were so pleased with this solution. His team did a fantastic job building out the system - they were clean and finished the project on the timeline he quoted. The work was high quality!! Net is that Dan took a very complicated buying process and made it simple and affordable. He is highly recommended for the quality of his work, pricing and his honest and straightforward approach!

Found Michael thru Yelp and since he was local I called and asked him for a quote on new…read moreboiler/heating system as ours was leaking a little bit. He stopped by and gave us a quote which was very comparable to other quotes we received. We decided to go with Michael and a few days later (before our scheduled installation date) our boiler/heating system completely broke and we had no hot water. He again stopped by and looked it and offered to try to fix it temporarily. We appreciated the offer but we just waited for the scheduled installation date that we had already set. Michael had said it would take 3 days to install and it took 3 days. He arrived on time every day and worked all day in the very hottest of days. His subcontractor/electricians came on the last day and they were polite and on time. We asked them for their business cards in case we needed future electrical work. (I have a friend named Casey and considered it a sign) The woman who answered the phone was friendly and booked an appointment for 5 days later on a Saturday, she told me the cost, which was LESS than the previous company. They did unfortunately have to reschedule the Saturday appointment, which was fine. My goal - get it serviced before it gets COLD. The window for arrival was 1 pm - 4 pm. the tech arrived promptly at 1 pm (lucky for sure). Very pleasant and knowledgeable. The preformed the work, showed me deficiencies that may cause issues in the future, stated a quote would be sent for the deficiencies. Luckily the deficiencies would not affect the system, and were not urgent. I am warm and toasty just in time for the soft freeze, enjoying a hot tea and a book! Thank you Casey - and Casey.

My $35,000 HVAC, air conditioner & furnace system in an antique house is 4 years old. The furnace works well, but the air conditioner, HVAC & mini split did not work any better than window fans. Casey techs came on a couple of service calls the first year and determined everything was working properly. Yes, the fans worked, but not the coolant. Their contract stipulated a "Casey HVAC 3-Year installation warranty". Last year they ghosted me for a maintenance appointment, but I was unaware they filed for bankruptcy soon afterwards. Thankfully this year I found someone willing to clean up the mess: The mini split system was low on refrigerant with 6 of 10 connections leaking; bad wiring on indoor units. Copper lines inside the house were not fully insulated. This could have caused water damage during summer if the AC ran properly. The compressor in the Trane XR air conditioner failed, as noted in another review, but is still under the manufacturer's warranty and will cost about 5-6 hours of labor to replace. Casey "helped" submit applications for refunds from MassSave, which were denied 15 times before I got a partial refund from what was quoted. Casey was reluctant to provide me the necessary information to do it myself, which I might have been able to do as I have grant writing experience. I got a dozen MassSave denials for the new energy efficient furnace before I gave up. After three years, I'm looking forward to enjoying a functioning system this summer.
