Excellent initial interaction. The project completed quickly at the best possible price. It would have worked well, except the wiring got swapped by the electrician person. Finally had it addressed after pictures, temp gun, and patience. Would have given a 5-star otherwise. Overall, I am happy with the mini-split system. read more

Buying a mini-split system is an incredibly difficult process. The Mass Save rebate system is very difficult to navigate. I got quotes and presentations from 4 different vendors and the pitch and price was exactly the same - hour long presentation and a $30k cost. However, what each vendor tells you is that IF you qualify a $10k rebate is available and your net cost is $20k. Essentially the rebate is a scam - it just gives contractors the ability to inflate the prices and use the rebate to make the system sound cheaper than it really is. I finally met with McIver and he was able to simplify the entire process. He is not a Mass Save contractor. So he does not work the rebate, just offers a strait-up cost to install the system. When he gave me his quote, I quickly figured out that Dan McIver was an honest man and that the whole Mass Rebate program was a scam. His quote with the similar equipment and the same number of mini-splits was $13,500. I hired him for the job and they started within a week. One of my biggest concerns was esthetics - I was worried about too many refrigeration lines running around the outside of the house. Our house is a rental property in Cape Cod that had a lot of charm to it and we did not want to ruin the integrity of it. Dan came up with a brilliant solution and was able to run most of the lines through the basement to minimize the lines on the outside of the house - we were so pleased with this solution. His team did a fantastic job building out the system - they were clean and finished the project on the timeline he quoted. The work was high quality!! Net is that Dan took a very complicated buying process and made it simple and affordable. He is highly recommended for the quality of his work, pricing and his honest and straightforward approach! read more

Dan is great. Extremely knowledgeable and quick to diagnose and fix my issues. Saving his number for future jobs.

Dan and Christian completed a difficult HVAC unit placement in my condo. The team went above and beyond on choosing the appropriate unit for my HVAC closet. The install was done in June and the unit ran flawlessly for three months. Dan's quote was extremtly reasonable and fair and Dan promised a one-year guarrantee on the service. So I would recommend Dan to others that I know. read more

Provided a proposal for a new HVAC install. Air source heat pump w gas heat, electric HVAC. Paid in full. The air conditioning has never worked and after a few attempts at rectifying the problem, the owner (Dan) just stopped answering my calls. I will have to hire another HVAC contractor to finish the project. Cannot recommend. read more

He took my money and then only did half the job. He left an elderly woman to freeze in the winter. He agreed to pay me the cost to have another contractor finish the job but then ghosted me. I finally resorted to small claims but the only person who answered his door was his mother who claimed he was no longer at the address and refused to provide a new address. So basically I'm out $6,700. read more

I was looking to have a mini-split installed in my garage, so no rebates available and therefore price was a significant issue. I'm also an engineer, so picky about the quality of the work. Dan was competed against 4 other HVAC installers/plumbers and he had a very competitive price, as well as allowing me to check his work before buttoning it up. I am pleased with his communications, promptness, and quality of his work and will use him in the future. read more

I had new a furnace put in by these guys a month ago and he gave me an excuse saying he was having a baby and he couldn't get away, the furnace straightened away but then he said he would come and fix the rattle then I was told I have a major gas leak, he's never came by and fix the furnace and now the gas company has come shut off my furnace because they say there was never had a permit pulled. I wouldn't use these guys for anything. They stole $3500 from me. read more

I needed someone to install mini splits into my shop's commercial unit, thankfully I ran across Dan. Dan and Paul were great to work with and made the process extremely smooth! I don't know anything about HVAC, let alone construction, but Dan and his team were super patient with me and helped me understand my installation options. I also enjoyed how transparent they were about pricing and quality, allowing me to make that decision for myself! Dan and his team also worked directly with our electrician, making installation a breeze. They did an excellent job on the installation both inside and outside, and the space looks great. Overall, Dan and his team provided excellent service, and were extremely professional, friendly, and communicative throughout the entire process. I will definitely continue to use them for all my HVAC needs! read more

Daniel has helped me with two A/C jobs over the last few months. He is reliable and trustworthy. The first job was complicated and required more than we initially anticipated, and I wasn't able to be physically present during the work. To ease my concerns, Daniel texted me videos of the work in progress and was available to answer any questions that I had. His pricing was fair. You could tell that he cared more about doing good work and building his reputation than squeezing every last dollar out of a job. I highly recommend Daniel. read more

Responded quickly. Helped us with our project on Martha's Vineyard during the height of the season, when contractors often don't even respond. Was very communicative throughout the entire process. Showed up when they said they would and got the job done! Thank you Dan and crew. read more

Dan came to the rescue in a huge way when the igniter on our oil furnace suddenly broke. It was a weekend, and yes, first I couldn't find anybody besides an emergency service who would do it during that time, but then I saw that he works Saturday hours. Right out of the gate, he was friendly, quick to respond, incredibly helpful, and made it abundantly clear that he's one of those people who goes the extra mile to help out. All of that and more played out as over the course of two days he had to get not only a new igniter, but another part and new boiler filters for the furnace as well. I noticed that other reviewer's wrote that they had never seen someone be so conscientious about pricing on parts and materials . I had the exact same experience, and was so grateful for his help as I was working with a very limited budget. His rate was extremely reasonable, and much much less than what I thought I would have to pay. Beyond all of this, he referred someone for another issue I have going on, and this is another really helpful contractor, a carpenter, who I can tell will get me the best job at the best price. Based on my experience over the past few years, this is getting more and more rare with contractors these days. I'm extremely thankful to have found Dan and can't recommend him highly enough as the most qualified, hard-working, honest, down to earth and responsible person you will find for the job. read more
