    Spare Ribs
    Nevaeh S.

We came here on Christmas Day, called day of to make sure they were open but no reservation was needed. We heard good reviews about the food so decided to try this place out. Stopped by around 12PM as a party of 5 and were greeted and seated immediately. We were placed at a table of 4 with an extra single table and a chair to make it fit. We did ask to be moved to a round table to better accommodate us but there was a graduation ceremony so we had to stay at the table we were at. Space itself isn't too tight, large windows so lots of natural light comes in as well. They weren't too busy but it did take awhile for them to take our order and for our food to come. Prices to portion sizes are reasonable and food was tasty, I really enjoyed the spare ribs out of everything we ordered. It was definitely the best I've tried. Overall experience was okay, it was nice to be able to come in on a holiday and enjoy a meal. Food was tasty as well so I wouldn't mind coming here again. I do recommend if you're looking to try a different Chinese spot.

Ribs were not tender at all, a lil under cooked to tough. Wings were yum, could use some seasoning. Loved the black mushrooms and greens. I enjoy getting food here, lovely staff. Love the decorum.

Milk Tea and Yuen Yeung served in the iconic B&W branded ceramics

If you're looking for a taste of Hong Kong, this is it. The Yuen Yeung (half milk tea, half coffee) served in those iconic Black & White cups is a creamy, caffeinated dream. It's the kind of drink that makes you feel instantly cooler and more worldly. Paired with the beef stew and wonton noodle soup, it was a truly epic meal. The beef was rich and deeply flavorful, and the wontons were perfectly seasoned. It's comfort food at its finest. The ambiance here is the perfect complement to the food. The walls, plastered with nostalgic '90s Hong Kong street scenes, instantly transport you. It feels less like a restaurant and more like a time machine, making the classic beef stew wonton noodles soup and iconic coffee-tea combo taste even more authentic.

Pocket finally has a decent Chinese restaurant and I'm glad. The old new china was ok but not quite good enough to make me return. Now that we have New China 2.0, I'm a repeat customer! They have some unusual dishes that were really good, such as the salt and pepper pork belly and salt and pepper eggplant. They fry them up nice and crispy and still juicy and moist inside. Definitely order this if you need a recommendation. They make a good fried rice too and I can tell their wok is super hot. Once I had the pineapple bun with butter (bo loh yau) and it was super hot and toasty and a nice taste of Hong Kong. Oh yes, their steamed pork patty with salted fish was very good and will give you that comfort food feeling you crave. The mongolian beef was also solid. Service is pretty good on the relative Chinese restaurant service scale. The interior has walls totally decked out with Hong Kong scenes which I really liked. The crowd is very eclectic and it feels very much like a neighborhood restaurant.

There is new management since my last review a few years ago and they have done a 180. Previously looked like a storage room, not anymore. Ambiance This place has been remodeled. Nice bright scenes on the wall, large tv. Place is spotless. Rate 5 Customer Service Ordered to go, person on phone pleasant and pleasant when I picked up. The waitress identified some of her favorite dishes for future visits. Vegetable Chicken Generous portion of chicken and vegetable medley. Think it had brown sauce very tasty. Rate 5 War Won Ton Generous serving. Good flavor. Take home order has entire dish in one container. Got very little broth. Maybe have an extra container for broth. Rate 4 Can hardly wait to try shrimp foo young next time.

The food here is so delicious. It is always so fresh, eventually fried rice. You can always tell when something is preprepared, and the food here is not. I ordered the lemon chicken every time, and we always get house fried rice. This time we ordered the ginger beef, and the greens and black mushrooms. They were delicious. Lots of ginger with the beef. Their egg rolls are crispy and on par too. All around good place. Good fast service and friendly too. I like to look at the wall with all the people painted on it. I see something new every time while waiting for my food.

Hair found in my takeout food. It's disgusting.

Zero if it was an option. I ordered it through grubhub but because I already left an earlier review, I can't add. I ordered the vegetarian beep and broccoli. I found a hair strand. It's disgusting. Don't eat here. I keep giving it a chance but that's gross. No it's not mine because mine is black and thick strands. This is fine that's gray and brown on bottom half. YUCK!

Chicken chow mein & 5. General Chicken

11/27/25 Very disappointed with the food. It was honestly nasty. Tasted very odd. The chomein was decent. General chicken was nasty & the wonton in chili oil was disgustingly. I spent $45 on these 3 items. For that price I expect better quality food. I will not be coming here again. Very very disappointed .....

Came here for the first time and I loved it! I have not laughed so hard in a long time and it's all due to the hospitality of the owner and his sister! Thank you Winnie and Danny for the laughs!!!! Wanna learn more about Hong Kong, come see Winnie and enjoy some good Chinese food. They have two menu; a Chinese menu and a regular menu. The difference is that some of the stuff on the Chinese menu, most people are not familiar with. The food was great and the service was even better! The owners go around and socialize with everyone; it really gives you that wholesome feel at home belonging!

So delicious! I haven't had a good Chinese dinner for a long time. My favorite was their fried chicken stuffed with sticky rice. Top notch! You do have to order advance if you want to order it. The service was excellent! The chef came out to ask how our food was. I will be back soon!!!

this is my fourth review for this place and we dined inside versus takeout- I was really really really hoping this place would shine. But after 4 visits... We decided to try some american style chinese entrees- our lunch specials: 1) Chin ju chicken: pieces of deep fried morsels lacked flavor. their fried rice had pieces of veggies and bits of pork - typical like Bel Airs chinese food, the egg roll was filled with cabbage which was crispy but cold. 2) ginger beef: pieces of beef were a little hard and dry. had very little ginger flavor but more of a soy sauce/oyster sauce even though there were ample pieces of ginger/green onions/onions that didn't invoke their specific flavors.too bad. 3) broccoli beef: special order without soy sauce-just garlic and salt-this entree lacked very little flavor of garlic and salt, sauce was also clumpy and thick probably due to too much corn starch. it also had an off flavor- we couldn't determine what that was. strange. The prices are definitely higher for a lunch special, portion size was great, but all entrees had a mild flavor or had a different flavor than say entrees from Jade Fountain, Hong Kong Wok, and even Macau. so even with a nice portion, it was just ok for me. But the ambience inside was nice. Would i return? Probably not. Again there are better chinese food restaurants in the south area that serve more authentic/and non authentic chinese food. But i would even say Panda express has better flavor for their typical american style chinese entrees.

    Wonton in chilli oil
    Sheila A.

Wild. Ordered wonton in chilli oil - which isn't on the paper menu - you have to ask for the other menu. I was told 15-20 mins. Which is odd bc there were only 2 families in there and they both were already almost done or done. After about 25 mins I checked in and then they went to get the saddest wonton in chilli oil I've ever seen. Absolutely not worth 13$. 8 rubbery tough shrimp dumplings. No utensils or sauces, you have to ask for it. They're literally the size of a quarter . Would not order again and would not return.

My husband and I lived in the Bay Area for a while before moving to Davis for school, so our standards are pretty high. Unfortunately this is not going to be my new go to. So I'm planning my next trip here this week so I can enjoy the amazing cucumber salad (so fresh, crunchy and garlicky), their pepper beef clay pot (sizzling rice at the bottom for the win and big portions), their spicy tofu (umm what?!? So crispy) and their awesome skewers (the pork belly is my favorite). The space is small, so if you're planning on dining in during peak times, you may want a back up or take it to go as they only have a handful of tables inside and a few tables outside. There is parking but it is shared with other business so can get busy. The service is wonderful! The hostess/waitress was very friendly and everything came out relatively quick. The clay pot does take some time (they need to cook up the rice to get that awesome crunchy bottom) so place your order for that first, and then look at the appetizers and skewers as they come out fast. It was nice enough that I tried to come here on a weekend night and it was packed full of families which is great but probably where I should have thought about it more. We went up to the counter and were told to wait a few minutes. I saw that a large table was clearing up so I didn't mind waiting. During this time a group came up behind us and I thought they were after us. One of the server waved in our general direction after cleaning up and splitting the table, so I thought they were gesturing to us since it has already been 10 minutes of waiting. Wrong, it was to the group behind us. Maybe it was communicated in mandarin that they had a reservation, I'm not sure. I waited for the next empty table, which was also taken by yet another group that magically appeared behind us as if they knew they were in line. I decided to leave after this. My issue is that I looked and talked to the staff multiple times and at no point, did they indicate there was a waitlist, nor did they take my name, or anything about people in front of us. It was really frustrating because being told it would be a few minutes set the wrong expectation. This is not the only place to get skewers so if you're left confused where you are in line, just come another weekday, speak mandarin, or go somewhere else like I did

One of my coworkers was the one who recommended this spot. Let me just say the food was incredible. The seafood chow mein was the standout dish out of everything. Loaded with octopus tentacles, scallops, shrimp. Feel like half the time you get seafood options these days they skimp out but this place did not disappoint. The fried rice was a little more unique than I've personally tried before with pieces of beef and cabbage. But still very tasty. And the pork dishes we got including the sweet and sour were just incredible. One thing I do want to mention was some pieces of the pork did have a bone attached, but I honestly didn't mind it much. The flavor made it up for it. Also inside of this place looks very modern, clean. Since we only got takeout I can't say for certain service for sit down but ordering and getting our food was simple. The steak was tender, perfectly cooked, and the rich flavor of the mixed mushrooms complemented the meat beautifully. 2. The "One Live Fish, Two Dishes" Approach: We selected a live black cod ($20/lb) and had the kitchen prepare it two ways. This is where the culinary team shines--both preparations were fresh, expertly seasoned, and utilized the fish to its absolute potential. The interior design is simple and functional--nothing flashy, but perfectly fine for a casual meal or a family gathering. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, as the dedicated free parking lot is quite limited, so you may need to hunt for a spot during peak hours. The Drawbacks are Service, Restrooms, and Hidden Fees! While the food hits the mark, the rest of the experience is hit-and-miss. The service lacks consistency. Staff can be attentive one moment and completely absent the next. A major downside was the state of the restroom, which was noticeably stinky and poorly maintained. The most frustrating part of the night came at the end. Despite agreeing on the $20 per pound price for the live black cod to be made into two dishes, the final bill included two completely unmentioned, mystery fees: one for $5 and another for $3. While the amount isn't massive, the lack of transparency regarding upcharges for the two-dish preparation is incredibly unprofessional.

So what did we order: 1) Salted fish and chicken fried rice: this dish was very good. flavors of dried salted fish was evident throughout each bite. you could even see the tiny pieces of salted dried fish. nice. chicken was tender. rice kernels did not stick or clump together like some places. And there were pieces of fresh ginger. This dish was very enjoyable. would order this dish again without hesitation. 2) bitter melon and beef in black bean sauce. Another nice flavorful dish. My only suggestion was just a little too sweet for me. I understand the goal is to balance out the bitter by adding sugar but I actually like the bitter flavor and will ask them to eliminate adding sugar to this dish in the future. But if you like this dish with a bitter and more sweet taste, this is your dish. 3) combo plate: chow mein and chicken with broccoli in garlic sauce. Just a basic american style combination dish.
