It's been months since we last came to this restaurant. Our last experience where we had to throw out much of our take out order because it was way too spicy hot discouraged us from wanting to go here. Last week after my dental hygiene appointment close by made me want to give them another chance. I placed a small to go order in case the extra spicey cook was working. I ordered two large hot large hot & sour soup, a large egg Foo Yung, and a large pork lo mein. My husband and I ate one hot & sour soup and split the egg Foo Yung for dinner. Yay, we throughly enjoyed our meal and it had just the perfect kick of spice. We had the second soup and some of the pork lo mein the next day along with some warmed up leftover chicken. Delicious! We had two very enjoyable dinners and some lo mein left to supplement another meal. We have put China Buffet back on our list of restaurants to enjoy. The fifth star is lacking because they have raised their prices considerably as if they were an elegant restaurant. It's a little pricey for a casual dining experience. read more

- Disclaimer: I must admit that I was drawn to this restaurant to challenge bold claims such as "Best Chinese Buffet!" and "I Tell Everyone to Eat Here!" I stand here today humbled by the fact everyone associated with this establishment (Front to Back End) should be very proud of their work, and the constant 5-star ratings you see here are well earned. - Overview: Mostly traditional dishes, and the creative liberties that aren't your typical "take-out style platters" are nothing short of masterpieces. Customary American/Chinese Buffet atmosphere, which is a nostalgic itch of mine. Very clean, despite the stigma of buffet's typically not being the most sanitary of organizations. Very attentive staff for seating and drink refills. My visit was on a Thursday morning, with light foot traffic, and a respectable $10.50 bill. (Dinner/Weekends may vary from this.) - Food Review: Pepsi Products (Fountain) - Refreshing soda syrup to carbonated water balance. Fried Rice - El dente texture, onions were sliced thicker than traditional, but were prepared to offer a sweet parity to the dish. Teriyaki Chicken - Well seasoned, sliced, and sweet with great texture. Green peppers and sweet onions made for a well-balanced dish. (So good, forgot I was writing a review and got seconds.) General Tso's Chicken - Tasted strongly of sweet and sour sauce. The texture was dry, sauce seems to remove the fact that the chicken was fried. Roasted Potatoes - Savory, perfectly cooked, but lacking salt. This was not really a problem as shakers are provided at the table. Egg Rolls - Traditional, but in the best way. Could eat 100 if my stomach were big enough. (Seriously *Chef's Kiss*) Tiny Chicken Pieces - Very tender, well-seasoned smoky flavor. Perfect! (Wanted to lift the whole tray-warmer and bring it back to my table.) Crab Rangoon- Traditional: 95% cream cheese 5% crab. Steamed Rice - Perfect texture Jasmine style. Ample sized rice cooker for those like me that prefer it. Hawaiian Chicken - This was a first for me. Perfectly cooked chicken thighs with orange glaze and pineapple. Glaze was savory and sweet, but not overly (which I was afraid of) Sushi - Spicy Crab and California Roll: Fresh and traditional with good presentation. Definitely the better of the two Chinese buffets in Frankfort. We will drive across town to eat here. Lots of options, food is usually fresh and hot. Never noticed anything gross or unclean. The koi pond is kinda fun, bring a quarter so you or the kids can feed the fishies after dinner! read more

Went in today and the server would not refill our drinks. The person in front of us Didn't tip so she was hounding me to give her one and entering my personal space making sure to watch as I tip her. Hope she enjoys her dollar, I'm never coming back. read more

As always my ratings take in consideration food received for price paid. Anytime I go to any type of Asain Buffet, I don't expect fine dining nor white line tablecloths. At China Buffet, the food offerings are so numerous, if you can't find something you like, you're not trying. And all these selections for $5.99 at lunch. We first ate at China Buffet years ago when my daughter and her family lived near Frankfort. We intentionally stopped there for lunch on our way home from Lexington today. I know of no other place you can select from so many choices of food for $5.99 at lunch. Dinner is a dollar or two higher. My personal favorites are: Hot and Sour soup, General Tso Chicken, Crab Rangoon and Coconut Chicken. These represent a very small fraction of what's available. I would pay the $5.99 for just my favorites! I've paid a whole lot more, very recently, for worse food. When I read some of the poor reviews, I'm really surprised and wonder what these people expect from a low cost buffet. read more

Three hungry travelers rushed into the New China Buffet on Easter night. After a quick looksie at the buffet and the price (8 dollars a person) they enthusiastically signed on to join forces with wayside Chinese food. And the first plate was a belly-filling glory, piled with lo mein, egg rolls, crab ragoon, and all the other delicious staples we've come to love and respect about American Chinese restaurants. And then...well, although we did eat two or three more platefuls, we realized that the food was pretty much devoid of flavor. There was some decent chicken, and the fried dumplings and egg rolls were good, but everything else was kind of greasy and bland. We were so grateful to shove heaving spoonfuls of hot food in our mouths, though, for so little cash, that I was willing to give it three stars and call it a day. 3 things brought down this rating: 1. The fried rice. I was really looking forward to heaping fried rice onto my second plate of food, but when I sat down with this, I discovered that it wasn't fried rice at all. It can only be described as...Southwest style rice?? It just needed some beans thrown in there. And it was dry. 2. The waitress dumped the check on our table halfway through our second plates of food and would not refill our water again after she had done it once. The place was nearly empty but we got the unwelcoming feeling that we were just not wanted. 3. I had a dream about my dinner companions de-veining their shrimp and eating frog legs that was a realistic flashback of Easter dinner. read more

I always thought of this place as an okay place to grab a quick bite, but today I had a really bad experience. My friend and I went in for lunch. The waitress filled our water once, then came back with our bill maybe 10 minutes later. We scrambled for our wallets and I felt rushed. When she comes back with the receipts, she stood over us while we signed it, and when I left no tip, she said, "You no tip?" I couldn't believe it. It was buffet and we didn't ask for anything else, drink refills or anything, and she had the nerve to ask me about a tip. I was so rushed and annoyed I forgot my credit card. I called and asked to speak to the manager about 2 minutes later to try to get my credit card back, and a young boy answered. We had communication problems and he said he'd ask the waitress about my card, but he never took my phone number down. It's easy enough to cancel a credit card and get a new one, but I won't be going back. read more

This buffet has really gone downhill. I ate there today and the food was only semi-warm and a lot of it was over cooked. I got what i thought was a deviled egg. Nope, it was just a hard boiled egg cut in half. The food was just lacking overall. To lower my review even further, they have signs posted all over the place asking you to eat all of the food on your plate. Seriously? It makes the place feel very unwelcoming; like your mother is scolding you. When the waitress brought us out check, we didn't pay right away because we weren't done yet. I still wanted to check out the deserts. About 10 seconds after she gave us the check, she came right back and said "you pay here". Then she stood over top of us until we paid. I have seen both negative and positive reviews. So I have decided to see which is more accurate. In the last seven days I have attended two weekday lunches and one Sunday dinner to gather my own opinion. I have decided to rate five stars and let me explain why; thus far food has been delicious (as far as buffet food goes) and the price is beyond reasonable. Two out of the three times our check arrived in the middle of the first plate serving however I don't believe they are trying to be rude. I think they do this for your convenience. I'm also giving a high rating because of how spacious and well decorated the inside is. Everything is clean and well lit. I LOVE the koi pond. Its phenomenal. And the servers have been friendly so far. As for the tipping part; if my table is clean, they provide great service, drinks are never empty, plenty of soy/salt/pepper on table, booths/chairs cleaned off why not tip them well? If they work hard for us to eat at a cheap price with a wide variety of food items to choose from, filling drinks and cleaning tables, why not give them something extra? Food service is hard. My check was for $16.28, I tipped $5.72. There have been other place's where I have left nothing. I hope you'll give this place a try. read more

This is a decent Chinese Buffet. It is hard to consider a Chinese Buffet as anything high cuisine, but for what it is, it's pretty good. The food is plentiful, and the service is passable. Like most buffet cuisine the food isn't exactly gourmet, but they do have passable versions of all the normal Chinese-American dishes that people come for, and some other related Asian dishes (they have cheap sushi, and a "Mongolian" barbecue as well). If you're in a hurry and passing through town, or on your lunch break it's a good way to spend about $8 and leave quite full. read more

Save your time and money. Ordered to go in hopes of getting hot fresh food, not buffet food. Orange chicken was fried thigh meat chicken from the buffet like general tsos, tossed in very very little orange sauce. It was dry and tough. Inedible. Lo mein with pork: also dry. Went there with my sister on 12/4/17. There was hardly anyone else in the place. ALL the food was cold and overcooked. Chicken Teriyaki tasted 2 days old, and the Crab Rangoon was beyond description. All the food was awful. In fact, the only good things I can say about this are (a) they have good paper napkins, and (b) they have good Dr. Pepper. And here's a thought--why not hire waitresses who have a personality? We were never checked for fill-ups and our table was never cleared. Only one of two places where I did not leave a tip. Excellent Chinese Buffet. I had several different items and they were all fresh and delicious. The "sushi" looked like fake crab or salmon, so I decided I would forego that particular gastronomic treat (what, you don't know I am sarcastic?). Went there on the night of Christmas Eve 2011. ( Where else does one go on a Christmas Eve. Best meal we have had a Chinese Buffet. Nothing dried out, which is very unusual for buffets of any type. Crab legs are an extra add on; one pound for 1.99 but well worth it. (nd I'm happy not to have to pay for what others consume when they come for only crab legs, when the legs are included in the basic price of the buffet!!! Will go back often. When this was beside Kroger I ate there every week, since then the food has slowly changed and a lot of things are bland. I waited there the entire time I was there because the pepper steak was cold and when they added more they just dumped the old on top. I had been there over 25 mins before they even brought it. This place used to be the best Chinese Buffet in town, but I think they've been going downhill lately. Today, I ordered the General Tso's Chicken for carry-out. It was the worst I've ever had.
