I had a good experience here! I absolutely love their egg foo yung. It's always hot and delicious. My second time coming I brought some family and it was good but some family thought it was nothing to write home about. there is some inconsistency in how flavorful the food is depending on when I go, but overall I will return for some of that egg foo yung. Super cool interior too!

Big fan of Chinese food and they have a variety of dishes that'll make your mouth water! I had one of the specials with sweet and sour chicken and lo mein. Definitely will be back to try more dishes!

I really enjoyed our visit here! We were promptly seated and server was right on it. Needed a high chair boom had it. We're served water and drinks quickly. Orders were taken; appetizers were quick and hot. Entrees followed quickly thereafter, but we had time to finish appetizers. Chuyie ( ? Spelling ) was a great server; very pleased with her. The dining area is large and comfortable decor making a warm setting but not over elaborate. Food was all very tasty.

This restaurant food was fire. Our extra spiced generals chicken flavors exceeded expectations. Not overwhelming but very tasty and will be my go to. Came at opening time on Saturday morning. Service fast and smooth. The place was spotless.

My daughter & I were craving Chinese and decided to try Oriental House... it hit! We loved the hot & sour soup (lots of tofu, carrots, etc), the crab rangoon was delicious We also shared Mongolian beef which had large, tender bites of steak in a great sauce. The restaurant has recently been remodeled and looked great. Service was good as well! Super happy to find a great Chinese place!! oh, btw they have a HUGE menu with all the traditional american chinese items in addition to a large number of authentic Chinese dishes. Go try it... you won't be disappointed.

Most authentic Chinese in Louisville area! Finally had a chance to enjoy this place and it did not disappoint! All the traditional dishes that you would find at your local Chinese buffet or carry out locations but here they're made so much better. I'm planning a return trip soon because the menu had so many items I wanted but portion sizes are HUGE so you can make two meals unless you can really throw it down. Very casual atmosphere boasting excellent service earns Oriental House a solid 5 stars!

It's not as good as it used to be before they remodeled. We previously loved the combo lo mein but this can be hit or miss sometimes now, especially if you order for take-out. Recommend sitting in and get their dim sum (shrimp crepe) or the stuffed tofu.

We sat down as a group of three and ordered vegetable fried rice, veggie lo mein, and mushrooms with tofu. We also shared a pot of hot tea. The restaurant was packed on a Wednesday night, and the restaurant played fun 80s music. Service was good. Great value. Would go back.

There is sadly no Dim Sum in Lexington. Since we were heading to Louisville for the races, we decided to check out Oriental House, recommended by some local foodies. While they don't have traditional rolling carts, the Dim Sum did the trick. How I love it! Very good and friendly service. 46

Lunch specials on July 4th, folks.

After driving back from Cincinnati we were too tired(and hot) to cook or grill out. What to do? Well, we went to the Oriental House on July 4th. They even offered the lunch specials for that day until 4 pm. For $20.14 we received each an entree, rice and egg roll that was tasty and filling. Let's face it the Chinese are credited with discovering fireworks so eating Chinese fit the bill.

Chef's kiss every time. Beef ribs are not my favorite but they are tender, way too much fat for me but again I know people love this like ribeye. I don't because I don't like the fat lol so if you like that this is perfect. But these wings... are the deep fried shrimp dumplings are lol Ask for some bourbon sauce for the wings and sriracha for the dumplings if you want a little kick!!!

This review is posted a day or so after we actually ate here. We did dine in at 5 PM on Sunday, 12/31/2023, which was New Year's Eve. It was mild to moderately busy when we arrived and jam packed when we departed around 7 PM. We've been coming here since 1978 and a combination of nostalgia and access to authentic cuisine has brought me back in the years since. This is my first time dining inside here since the last business remodel in the past year or so, as I usually do takeout. The interior is lovely and fresh appearing. Parking is sufficient for the size of the restaurant and easy access on Shelbyville Road near the Mall and the interstate. It seems the takeout orders rival or even outnumber the orders in the sit down portion of this establishment, so I'm happy the business is thriving. I am hopeful it will inspire the owners to improve the quality of some of the menu items we sampled to maintain customer loyalty. We enjoy visiting the dim sum restaurants in Chicago's Chinatown, so this is wonderful to have authentic cuisine closer to home when a craving hits. The egg roll we had during this visit was stuffed with what appears to be a finely chopped slaw mix and was noticeably bland, crunchy cabbage. The interior crunch tending toward raw veggies was surprising because the outer wrapper was fried too long, so I suppose the oil was too hot. Disappointed. We ordered duck feet (12 pieces) $5 and the seasoning was delicious -- savory, aromatic, and spicy. Preparation was top notch. This is a keeper. We ordered from the house specialties menu with sizzling subgum, $16, which is beef, shrimp, and chicken cooked with mixed vegetables on a hot plate and opted for fried rice. Second entree was Hunan duck $14 with roasted pieces of battered duck with vegetables in a spicy Hunan sauce, also with an option of fried rice. We both commented that the fried rice was unlike any we have had in the past. It appeared to be steamed white rice with perhaps turmeric or similar orangish tint used for color to mimic the appearance of fried rice. The entrees and rice were all bland. The duck was primarily batter in proportion to the meat ratio. My pot of hot tea also left an impression that this is no longer authentic Asian cuisine being served. It was fairly dark and seemed to have been steeped too long irregardless of the type of tea -- English? Not oolong! We ordered carry out of fresh string beans with pork $13 which I will say is some of the best I have ever had. The red pepper flakes and the final texture of the green beans was perfect. We ordered pork and shrimp dumplings 4 pieces $4.50 which were tasty. An order of General Tso's chicken $13 was bland and included onions, carrots, and zucchini. Even with several whole red cayenne peppers, it was still mild. Finally, stir fried flat rice noodle with egg and shrimp $14 featured perfectly cooked shrimp, but I did not personally care for the congealed texture of the noodles and sauce, although it reminded me of dumplings. Service was excellent. Our waitress was dealing with a full house and she was pleasant and efficient. I plan to return for the green beans and will try a few more items from the spicy menu to decide if this restaurant will be a keeper. I also plan to inquire about the fried rice version being served before I order it again. I do not want to have to drive to Chicago, so I'm hopeful.

Szechuan chicken. Great flavor and a nice kick.

Absolutely delicious Chinese Food and wonderful friendly service…read more The food is fresh fresh fresh!!! The restaurant is clean clean clean. The owners and service are super friendly every time you walk in. No MSG which is a plus for me. If you like MSG just add salt they keep on the tables. LMAO. The crab Rangoon are always piping hot and so flavorful. Not just some cream cheese but the real thing. The shrimp egg rolls had the flavor of actual shrimp and included a lot of huge shrimp! Like falling out the egg rolls amount of shrimp. The regular egg roll is also fresh and deliciously filled with veg. I don't even like Lo Mein but I do here. My neice is a Lo Mein connoisseur and she loves it here and said it's the best she has ever had. I agree....it is deeeeeeelicous. The lunch special is until 3pm and includes the main, choice of egg roll or 2 Rangoon, with pork fried rice. There is so much protein / meat in their dishes. They do not skimp on anything here. It is such a value for lunch price AND dinner prices. I love food and I love it here!! The fact that they are super nice makes this even a better experience. Most people do take out but I love to sit in here and eat because it's clean, quiet, and I get to eat my fresh piping hot food. They cook it all fresh and that chef back there is doing it up. I appreciate this restaurant so much! If you want fresh delicious Chinese with amazing flavor, come on in and check them out! You will come back and thank me but it's not necessary because we are Yelp Fam!!!
