Visited on Christmas Eve 2024 to grab a takeout order and discovered the restaurant will be open tomorrow -- Christmas Day (nice option other than Waffle House!) -- close to the interstate for travelers as well as locals. Plenty of parking. Menu items consist of the standards (spring rolls, egg rolls, teriyaki chicken, crab rangoons, fried rice, steamed rice, General Tso chicken, beef broccoli, Szechuan shrimp, fortune cookies, etc) and this is one of our favorite restaurants. After coming back from Mammoth Caves, we were looking for a dinner spot and had trouble finding one that would allow dogs - especially after a rain that closed the outdoor patios. We rushed to China Bistro for Chinese takeout, and they graciously accepted our order even being close to closing time. We got a pretty standard "American" order - General Tso's chicken, beef and broccoli, and pork lo mein. The General Tso' chicken is super "generic" - almost like -prefrozen chicken in standard sweet sauce. So for like, something unique or authentic, this is not it but it works as a safe choice for most palates. Like Chinese chicken nuggets persay. A little bit overcooked but not tough in any way. The beef and broccoli also was more on the generic side but a bit better than the chicken. There is considerably less meat though (for those looking for protein macros), but overall worked to compliment the sweetness of the chicken. The lo mein was really good. It did come a little cold, and very notably, usually noodle portions are double or even triple than what we got (even at Panda Express), but it is what it is. Overall, the lo mein had great flavor and tied the whole meal together. (There were also two small white rice included which were appreciated despite being overcooked but also it was the end of the day so it makes sense.) We were in Clarksville, IN and we were looking for a place to have dinner. We saw China Bistro on Yelp and it was only 10 minutes away, so we decided to give it a try. The place is in a mall and from the outside, it wasn't very impressive. We were there around 7p and oist the tables were occupied, good sign. We started with Steamed Dumplings and these were a pleasant surprise. The meat and accompanying sauce were unlike any we had tried, delicious. I ordered the Chicken Curry and Beef and Scallops. Both dishes were outstanding, but I did request that the Chicken Curry be prepared mild, but it still had plenty of heat (for my taste). All in all, it was a very pleasant surprise and we will return when in the area again! read more

The absolute best Chinese in Southern Indiana! The folks are so genuine and helpful. The kitchen staff is sharp and attentive. The server doesn't miss a beat on any order. Their prices are more than fair considering the high quality food. I've tried quite a few different entrees and haven't had a bad one yet. Sweet n sour chicken, Orange Chicken, Kung Pao, they got it all. Their Lo Mein and Fried Rice is high quality. No cheap rice or noodles here. The spice levels are my favorite part. 1-5 on heat level. A 3 is perfect. Really brings the entrees to life. All the food is extremely traditional and very well done. The soups are great and the egg rolls are dropped fresh with every order. All the food is made to order and comes out hot and fresh! You don't have to worry about getting food that's been sitting around all day. Apart from the food and service the inside is very decent. Better than 3 star/not really a 4 star. I placed an order for delivery. The upside-the food arrived promptly, it arrived piping hot and the vegetables were nice and crisp. Portions were substantial. Pieces of chicken, pork & shrimp were all very large. The downside-shrimp with garlic sauce was sweet. I've never had a sweet garlic sauce. The hunan pork was supposed to be spicy. I even asked for extra spice. It was bland at best. And the chicken with mixed veggies was indistinguishable from the "garlic"sauce. China Bistro isn't worthy of 5 star reviews. Not until they really deliver on the different flavors of Hunan, Szechuan, Mongolian and so on. Fully aware that "best Chinese in the area" probably just means that there is just no Panda Express in a 20-mile radius (seriously), I had a hankering for eating something different so I made the drive out to China Bistro to take a chance on some to-go food based on the local Yelp reviews of this place. Oops! Overall, even though I asked for "light sauce" on the stir-fried entrées, there was still way too much sauce, and the sauce was sickeningly sweet in the Broccoli in Brown Sauce, as well as in the Scallops with Broccoli in Szechuan Sauce. The Ma Po Tofu was also too sweet, which is very odd because that dish is never sweet. Such an odd version of Ma Po! Have you ever tilted your plate or to-go container to try to gravity-drain off too much sauce in an American Chinese dish? This was one of those meals. Still didn't work. And by the time the sauce had suitably drained, I had to reheat my food. I probably ingested a half a cup of white sugar over the course of this meal. Yikes. read more

First, a confession... I've developed CBA Syndrome. That's Covid Bad Attitude Syndrome,lol! Like so many Yelpers, I'm growing weary of being forced into carry-out and drive-thru food, or social distancing mask and full face plexiglass wrap-around contamination suite wearing servers! It's a little Chinese Restaurant tucked away on Charlestown Road in New Albany that's really doing their best to keep serving their customers during Covid. The food is hot and fresh - right off the wok! My wife and I call-in our drive thru window food order almost twice a week and the quality has never wavered - always fresh and hot with generous portions suitable for tomorrow's lunch. Pro Tip 1: You must call-in to order. No drive-up ordering is permitted. If you call-in your order around dinner time, you may get a busy signal - just keep repeat dialing, they'll eventually pick up. Pro Tip 2: The vehicle line will suddenly build-up out of nowhere. If they say your order will be ready in 15 or 20 minutes, it's really 10 minutes. If you think you're arriving too soon, you're not. Get your car in line! Pro Tip 3: If they think you're asking for too much soy sauce, duck sauce, or hot mustard, they'll charge you an extra $1.00. Maybe it's just me, because I used to take a lot when they were open for counter service and now they're trying to extract a little payback, lol! Give them a try. A good chinese place in new albany! Neat interiors and clean tables. The menu had lot of options to choose from. Was quiet inside. I tried their egg drop soup, while it wasnt the best i had it was still decent! For the main got the combination of pork fried rice and chicken with garlic sauce. The pork fried rice was delicious! Theres something about that pork fried rice at this place. The chicken with garlic sauce was good too but my only complaint was there was quiet less chicken in it. Prices are not too bad. Good classic Chinese food at reasonable prices. It's a small dining area but most of their business is takeout and delivery. They've been a godsend during the pandemic. In my opinion it's the best Chinese in the New Albany area. The eggrolls and steamed dumplings especially. Small spot in strip mall, with a clean dining area and quick helpful staff that got food out fast. They do a large to go business and rightfully so. Their food is good, the wontons are excellent and you get three pork wontons in a lunch bowl. Cashew chicken was not overly saucy with mushrooms, lots of diced celery and tiny baby corns in brown sauce. Fortune cookie was fresh, that is always nice finish. The young girl who is working the register is swamped! They need to have a better ordering system. When the line is out the door stop taking phone in orders and deal with the in store customers. This place was suggested by a tech at my nail salon so off to lunch we went. I had driven past this place often and never noticed it was there, its part of a small strip mall so it blends in. Basic decor inside, the restaurant itself and the lady's room looked very clean. A little girl who I assumed was the owners child sat watching cartoons on the tv overhead. The place is obviously family friendly. There's the standard overhead menu board you see in most Chinese restaurants but if you are eating in, just pick a seat and they'll bring out a real menu and come to the table for your order. Lunch specials were well potioned snd according to my nail tech, thier carry-out boxes are stuffed full. The food was hot and tasty. I can't believe that I've never written a review for my favorite Chinese place in New Albany! China Bistro is a small restaurant located in a strip mall that also has a drive thru. You can dine in and sit in one of their comfy booths or get your food to go, which is what I usually do since I commute from Louisville and I stop there on my way home. It is only an exit away from IU southeast...I am telling all of you hungry college students- eat at China Bistro! The food is excellent and the prices are cheap. Like most Chinese restaurants, they have lunch specials which are about half the portion size and price of the dinner combinations. Both come with rice and an egg roll. My favorite entree there is the sesame chicken, which comes with broccoli. I also like to substitute white rice for the fried rice. Last but not least, I LOVE their steamed dumplings. Best appetizer. I'm also going to vote these best dumplings I've ever had...and as a person who has had dumplings from about twenty (not an exaggeration) different places, THIS is the best place to get them. They are big, juicy, and filled with pork. When they come out, you can smell the dough. The sauce is very garlicky and pairs perfectly with the taste of the dumplings. Not only that, but they are consistently excellent each time. When I lived in California, all I could think about were these dumplings. Now that I'm back home, I can have them anytime I want.
