I'm pretty happy that there's a neighborhood deli open late. The people there are always friendly as well.

I really appreciate that they have healthy snack options, a decent diversity of stuff here. The staff is very friendly.

Their fluffy, filling pancakes have had me in a chokehold for over a decade. And I'm not ashamed to admit it, lol. I'll be honest, I usually opt for the pancakes and not much else because they're so delicious, they do not need help on the plate. It comes with a small assortment of fruit on top (sliced strawberries, bananas, and blueberries). The service is always pleasant and punctual. Yes, punctual. If you've ever been here, you know how quickly the crowd grows. We arrived a little before opening and they cracked the doors right on time. They were ready to take our orders as soon as we were seated. I always appreciate places that don't make patrons feel like we're an inconvenient part of the morning/opening routine. The ambiance - the booth seating is cozy and comfortable. It's not a big place, so the space is close. One of these days, I'll stop in for dinner. Looking fwd to going back, as always!

My daughter had spotted this cafe previously and brought me here on my recent Brooklyn visit. We brought melancholy vibes with us on a cold, cloudy day but this sweet little cafe helped smooth the way to rest of our day. We shared a salmon crepe and poppyseed muffin. I had a creamy London Fog tea. All were delicious! We managed to snag a tiny table, and were served by an efficient server. Only a few tables and a tight fit, but you feel like you have escaped to a secret hideaway. Definitely on my list to visit again when I am next in Brooklyn.

It's a very small place so don't arrive with your whole entourage hoping to get seated. And don't be loud either because it's cozy seating. We went to banana and Nutella crepe and the roasted chicken crepe. The roasted chicken one was a bit bland but lucky the Goat cheese gave it a little boost otherwise it would have been a bust. The banana + Nutella was delicious. I got a matcha latte with some syrup added. This was also very good. I recommend for the coffee or even to-go option. My ideal situation they would have a more spacious upstairs area.

The host had even set a table aside for us with coloring pages (based on the mural on the opposite wall, which they loved realizing). Everything was absolutely perfect. The Gougère (a cheese puff pastry) was airy, light and I loved it, more than anyone else at the table. The fried artichokes were more broiled (tasted healthier) and came in a slightly acidic tahini sauce. The sauce was a light layer on the dish instead of on top to keep the brussel sprouts from getting soggy. I got the moules frites, fantastic, no notes. My son got the kids steak and fries which came with a salad he ate first. The price ($22) for a "kids" meal seemed steep, but the steak alone was probably worth the price, and actually seasoned. This is the type of kids meal that builds kids who actually like food. We got some zero cocktails (not enough sleep to drink and travel the next day) and they were great. If I'm at the NU hotel again, this is going to be a must stop place. Total bull was 222 (before tip) for 3 adults and 2 kids. So expensive, but well worth it, and honestly not terrible for NYC standards.

I was torn between the smoked trout scramble and the Nicoise but without olives since I'm not a fan but on the waiter's suggestion I ordered the Nicoise. Not a knock on the waiter at all but the olive aioli that he said was on it tasted way too olive-y for me so I had to send it back and ordered the scramble instead! I also had a small piece of the socca bread and wasn't a fan. There wasn't a lot of smoked trout in it but pairing it with the hash brown or spread on the toast was the best move for flavor profile. Overall a decent experience but I wouldn't rush to come back!

The staff was friendly and the inside has a nice atmosphere with somewhat dim lighting so my hastily taking photo of a special pasta did not come out well at all. I didn't have a drink though they do have a nice wine selection along with cocktails and a full coffee bar. They gave some warm bread which was tasty. Our shared appetizer was the Chef's selection of cheese, meat and vegetable antipasti for $27. It was a nice mix with Pecorino, Salame Napoli, Prosciutto, Eggplant Caponata, Castelvetrano Olives, Pickled Fennel, and I believe one other meat and one other cheese along with a jam (I believe fig) and some toast points. The portion size was decent and it would be good to split between two or three people with the pickled fennel being a unique option with the caponata being good quality. We enjoyed it overall and it went well with the general bread along with the toast points. My pasta was a special of the day so I don't have an exact description but it was a ragu of some type with some ricotta on top and I presume it was around $28 or so. I remember the pasta texture being alright (could have been more al dente) and the flavor was pretty good. Compared to other pasta places in the area, I think Gersi has better quality pasta and there's other spots which charge less or have bigger portions which are just as good quality if not better. The food was overall good/decent. Nothing particularly over the top to justify the price point outside of the neighborhood and design.

Natural wine bars seem to be all the hype lately and it brings me so much joy because these wines are so much easier on my body (no hangover, less heartburn, etc.). The wines I tried here - one chilled Italian red & one chilled Greek white - were refreshing and light, perfect for the small plates we shared. I could honestly say the wine selection here can go head-to-head with four horseman (iykyk) but the food is a skip for me. The space is pretty small so it's good for date nights but not big groups & you will most likely feel like you're in the conversation of your neighbor. There's also a Mexican spot in case you don't want tacos here or something as well as a bar in the same weird location. I would call it bizarre but also fun. The first time I came here was soon after they were supposed to open and the guy wasn't there and as there is likely still only one person working there, you might need to get another lunch instead. The menu here is jerk chicken related options including a chicken taco (what) along with some Asian inspired sides of all things (even more what.) The jerk chicken I had was moist but it lacked a bit of spice to be truly called jerk chicken outside of the skin. It was perfectly fine. I also ordered a side which was the soy-glazed rutabaga with charred scallion and chili dark sesame which was $7. This messy delicious side dish was better than the chicken being much more well flavored with a bit of heat in back and plenty of sour and sweetness. I also had an iced tea which was $3 which was slightly fruity and it was fine also. I find rating and writing about this place a bit weird as the side was good enough to be at a really good restaurant. If the jerk was as good as the side, I would recommend the place more. Guy in front is nice. Hope they do well but it's a weird location (at least it's close to Smith.) 3.something.
