I think the person that owns this business is a p o s for no reason at all.I was standing outside looking at the equipment, and he comes out like I stole something and did something wrong.I asked him how much it would be to get.My echo chainsaw fixed and he just since we don't do those anymore.As I turn looked to my left and there's three echo signs right on the front of his business.So I don't know what this problem is.And he doesn't know how to conduct business very well.I would not do any business with this person at all.I would not recommend him.He does not treat people right?And its way overpriced and uses old parts and charges you three times what they sell for. Not every mechanic knows the part number of everything haha plus I don't work on "small engine" I work on big rigs, "small engines" I thought was supposed to be your specialty , if someone comes In with a vin number off a small engine your telling me that you guys are so bad at what u do you can't even try to look for it, u just instantly get angry and upset and talk down on the person for simple asking you to provide the service your business is sopossed to be built on. The owners are not meeting their obligations as a Toro dealer and for that matter for all of the brands they are certified dealers for. They don't have anyone answering their phones other than the owner and his wife. They are so rude and don't spend any time with the customers to help them find their parts. When I called it rang and rang then he asked me to hold while he was helping someone else and didn't even put me on hold. I attempted to give him my OEM Toro part number and he stopped me in my tracks and stated, (that's not how we do it). He could have simply checking stock and told me he didn't stock it and at that point I would have asked him to order it for me. that didn't happen and he couldn't get me off the phone quick enough because he obviously didn't want to waste his time on my small part that I need to get my mower running again. I've gone to the location in person and called before in the past 15 years and they haven't changed a bit! The are understaffed and are not doing any justice for the brands they are certified dealers fir parts and service. They don't deserve one star. Will only work on equipment that is purchased there. Is a Briggs and Stratton dealer but told me they were booked until July. When I asked for an appointment in July they told me no they won't make one. Called the Briggs and Stratton dealer in Carson and they were professional and was more than happy to work on our engine. Went to have Lawnmower checked. I had a full service 3 years ago, but only used the Mower 6-8 times due to I moved and had health problems. They wanted a $125. deposit up front and charge $90.00 an hour. The $90.00 an hour is excessive, so is the up-front deposit' I drove to Outdoor Power-NV in South Reno. This virus has made this company crazy. I called looking for a motor for my splitter and no one wanted to help me. The man on the phone was completely rude. I asked for help and he simply said "no contact, I have to be self distancing" ok.. can I give you a part number. NOPE NO CANT DO THAT. What can you do then? How am I supposed to get help because I don't have the knowledge from someone who won't help me at all. Won't be going here or calling ever again. I have taken several Honda generators there through the past seven years and three of them that were I was told they were non-repairable. I am not a small engine guy but I pulled the carburetors ran them through a super sonic cleaner and all three work now. I paid him to find out that these do not work. On top of that he has been super rude to my wife my employees and myself. I see why they have two stars. Everyone deserves respect as a human until proven otherwise. This guy deserves no respect. Disrespect my wife that has no problems with no one ever. I have been with her for 11 years and this is the second person in 11 years to speak to her in a way she feels disrespected. He said he had a belt but wouldn't get it so I could see if it was the same width unless I was going to buy it. He was rude on the phone when possible customers would call. Took a small engine in to have the card adjusted, but I think since I bought the carb online and it was not a 'factory' carb or whatever reason the guy looked at it and said 'He would not touch it' yet the other local shop did the job in a couple days and will be getting a much higher review. read more

Worst attitude on the phone. The guy who answered the phone will not give out a part number over the phone because I did not buy my Toro lawn mower from him. I offered to give him the model and serial number of the mower, but he did not want to help over the phone. I eventually contacted Toro and filed a complaint against this business. My experience with this company is totally different then those who have written previous poor review's. I brought in a small generator that couldn't start, just when I needed it. It was during the recent storms that resulted in no power for days. I worked with Rick, who I didn't know from Adam, and he made a special effort to get it running in just two days. He knew I needed it, so he got it done on the weekend, even calling me and offering to meet me at the shop to pick it up. And the repair was reasonably priced: not gouged. Yes, it's not Macy's. It's not a spacious store with room to move; its cluttered with small engine equipment and parts; and the guys are a little crusty who work there. But they got the job done for me and I'm pleased with this place. Give them a try for new purchases or repairs. Just don't be too judgmental. read more

This business should not be in business. The place is closed most of saturday when most people need parts and service for their mowers, chainsaws, and other small engines, and closed on sundays. I finally made it in on a week day, and after a procedure to enter the store, due to special entry requirements due to covid-19 I was bussed in thru the electric door. I asked the person sitting on bar stool behind a clear plastic shield for a very common part for my small engine, "we don't stock that, not enough money in it ", nice! I purchased the small engine/ tool here, and paid full retail, now he won't service it. The arrogant attitude said it all! Reading the other reviews of rude behavior tells a true story. I took a hedge clipper to this business to get it sharpened. Turned out it would have cost between $40 - $60 to sharpen it and comparable new ones sell for around $45. The woman behind the counter was friendly and honest about that and I appreciated it. However, the signs behind the counter were so negative that I doubt I'll go back. They said things like "Our sales counter is not a workbench - don't treat it like one!" and "We don't lend out tools - so don't ask!" Finally there was a several paragraph statement that basically said if you don't have the make and model of the unit you need a part for, you'll be served last. Gosh, could a place give stronger negative vibes before you even get to the counter? This is a place I'll avoid in the future. read more

REALLY BAD...we took a 5 month old weed eater in for warranty repair on June 9th. We called weekly and were told they hadn't looked at it yet..so after a month had passed, I called and said we will pick it up and take it somewhere else and it was only then that I was told a new story.. that it had been stolen in a burglary and that I need to wait until their insurance company pays them and THEN they will give us a different weed eater AFTER we pay for the repairs on ours -and that I should be damned happy with that because they are not responsible for circumstances beyond their control! I called Sparks PD and they said there had not been a burglary reported, when I called back Nevada Small Engines back and told them that the lady who answered became infuriated, told me not to call her a liar and hung up on me. It's now almost August so I guess it's clear we are out of luck. I called Tanaka HQ they said they have had problems with this dealer before and are terminating their contract with them but that there's not much else they can do, so I guess now it's off to small claims court, what a pain. DIYers do not go here! They are very condescending to the do-it-yourself kind of person and clearly want you to bring your equipment in to have it repaired. The have an All Sales Final policy on parts so MAKE SURE you have the correct part before making the purchase. Even though they sold me the WRONG part they still would not do a return or exchange- simply pointing to the sign on the wall about their return policy. I'm sure Diana W. is going to refute this with some sort of condescending reply about how this and how that and it's clearly printed on the receipt, blah, blah, blah... but that, again is the perfect example of how poorly they treat people rather than changing their ways. I have been going to this business for over 8 years. They have fixed up my Toro lawn mower and did it in a very cost effective way. They did not oversell me and got my old lawn mower back up and running, again and again. After my third time, I decided on a string trimmer and Rick the owner gave me a wonderful recommendation. He also helped me with getting the correct wire and fuel and now I have a great weed killer! In 30 minutes I finished a job on the side of my property that would have taken me days. I went here looking for a drive belt for my lawnmower. Guy inside looked at me like I was insane when I told him the size. I almost asked what they do there because it's not sell mower belts if they don't have a very common size. I was trying to support a locally owned business instead of a chain. If Yelp gave "0" stars, this is what they deserve. Even though they had poor ratings, I thought I give him a chance. I brought a small engine in, one that needed a stripped screw replaced. I just did have the correct size. The manager asked me to get it so that he could see it. I brought it near the gate, which he was behind, and he said "put that back in the car, it looks like a military engine" (the gas tank is olive green). It is not, that it just needs a small screw replaced. "I don't work on those old engine, put it back!" I did and told him I cannot believe that he is still in business. I went here to get my Echo weed wacker repaired. Gas was coming out of the tank after it was filled and pressurized. The man started asking me questions about what I did to cause it. After his insulting questions he told me it was probably a malfunction at the needle valve and it would cost me $140 to repair, or I could buy a new one from him for $160. A new carburetor for this is probably $40. This was the most insulting, belittling human I have ever met. I would like to discourage anyone from even visiting this place. The 1 stars are for real! This was the most unpleasant experience Iv'e had with a small local business EVER! I needed a chain replaced on my chainsaw and I was told to fill out a card with my info. I was handed a stub but no mention of how much it would cost or how long the work would take. So I asked and this was his responce, "$75 to $100 dollars and you can come get it in the afternoon four days from now...what? I asked for my chainsaw back and he charged me $10.00 for filling out the paperwork. The irony is that I filled out the work, and he got ten bucks for tearing off the stub!!!
