I have been a patient at Nevada ENT for approximately three years now. I originally started seeing…read moreDr. Mathis, and I cannot say enough good things about the care he provided before his retirement. For nearly four years, I went undiagnosed with a rare brain tumor that affected my vestibulocochlear nerve, ultimately causing significant hearing loss, balance problems, and CHRONIC dizziness. After years of searching for answers, I became so discouraged with the healthcare system that I simply stopped looking. I convinced myself that living with constant dizziness was just going to be my new normal. Ironically, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Mathis because I thought I had impacted earwax. My hearing had declined significantly, and I assumed that was the cause. After examining me and completing a hearing test, he told me there wasn't any ear wax, but he was very concerned about the amount of hearing loss I had for someone who was only 29 years old. Instead of stopping there, he kept asking questions. I told him that for the previous four years I had been dealing with facial pain, headaches, dizziness, hearing loss, and other unexamined and unexplained neurological symptoms. Those questions ultimately led to my diagnosis. Dr. Mathis referred me to a specialist in San Diego, where I underwent a craniotomy to remove the tumor. Thankfully, it was benign, but I was left with complete hearing loss in my left ear. Since then, my focus has shifted to protecting my remaining hearing and exploring permanent hearing rehabilitation options such as a BAHA or cochlear implant. Unfortunately, Dr. Mathis retired before we reached that stage of my journey, but before he left the practice, he referred me to Dr. Foyt. I recently had my first appointment with Dr. Foyt, and I left very impressed with his knowledge and experience, and more importantly, hopeful about the next steps of my journey. I think it's important for patients to understand that Dr. Foyt is a neurotologist, an incredibly specialized subspecialty within otolaryngology. His practice is focused on complex disorders of the ear, hearing, balance, and the skull base. Specialists with his level of training are not common. In fact, after my diagnosis, I had to travel hundreds of miles to receive care from someone with similar expertise. Having someone with that background practicing here in Northern Nevada is an incredible asset to our community. His approach was pragmatic, efficient, and exactly what I personally appreciate. My appointment was completed in well under an hour, and I left feeling that every minute was well spent. At this point in my journey, I don't need someone to spend an hour rediscovering my diagnosis. I need someone who understands my condition, listens to my concerns, and helps me determine the best path forward. That's exactly what Dr. Foyt did. He focused on the issues that mattered, answered my questions, and helped me map out the next steps in my care. Before meeting with me, Dr. Foyt had already reviewed Dr. Mathis' records. While I wouldn't expect any new physician to know every detail of my complex medical history on day one, he came into the appointment prepared, listened carefully, understood my goals, and worked with me to discuss the next steps in my care. After years of being told my symptoms were anxiety, that I just needed to lose weight, see a chiropractor, or try another medication, it has been incredibly refreshing to have two ENT physicians in a row who genuinely listened to me. They recognized that something wasn't right, took my concerns seriously, and treated me with the respect every patient deserves. Quite literally, Dr. Mathis changed the course of my life by asking a few extra questions that no one else had asked. Based on my first experience, I have every confidence that Dr. Foyt will continue that same standard of thoughtful, patient-centered care. I am incredibly grateful to both physicians and to Nevada ENT for helping me through one of the most difficult chapters of my life.

I'm so impressed with how he and his office staff are always on time!…read moreThat being said Dr Meier was able to diagnose an illness that is rarely seen and was able to treat while I was hospitalized. His follow ups have been excellent including hearing tests etc. I highly recommend this office not only for the exceptional medical care, but also wonderful staff and minimal wait time.

I had tried to explain to Josh, that my situation was complicated and needed time to go through it…read more He was incredibly impatient and it was clear he wanted to rush me out of the room. He proceeded to scope me after I had said that I had already been scoped before. This could have been avoided, and it was never explained that this was going to be a significant extra charge. Josh had also denied me surgery - 3 other ENTS afterward had all highly recommended surgery after being significantly more thorough than Josh. Due to Josh's lackadaisical/rude attitude and plain laziness, I now am unable to get the surgery I needed and after I met my deductible. I now am left with a reset on my insurance due to his grotesque negligence, but even after working with the kind office manager, Crystal, he will not budge on removing the charge he placed on my account. I truly do not understand the praise this boy is receiving after the very impatient and heartless attitude that I received/witnessed. Please go anywhere else if you are able - I'd be concerned of misdiagnosis//missing critical aspects of your health due to Josh's attitude problem.
