I've gone to the Neurology Center in Chevy Chase for at least eight years and have always had a positive experience. Dr. Hari Hall is one of the best doctors I have seen in any specialty (hence the 5 rating!) -- she is bright, efficient, personable, answers questions clearly and has helped me with a wide range of health issues (migraines, sleep, medications, sciatica pain, and more). My only recommendation is to book appointments well in advance -- the doctors have full calendars -- and give the staff enough time to respond to medication approvals and refills. They are courteous and helpful on the phone but can sometimes have a backlog of requests to respond to. read more

I told the second scheduler I'm writing a review with the lowest rating he said how can you write a review you haven't been seen yet you can't write a review, I told him I know what a review is I know how to write a review, I had heard Dr Mitra Haeri is an excellent Doctor for Complex Migraine okay great who can argue with that, I had an upcoming appointment with the Doctor I just called to cancel I read a bunch of reviews, while reviewers were praising Dr Haeri they went on to say "Can't deal with the front office, it's like you're in Hell, run don't walk, stay away from this place far away, can't get letters, appointments, messages, call backs, prescriptions, prior authorizations, referrals, tests ordered, I've (previous reviewer) complained before nothing ever gets done or changes, etc" the first scheduler asked why I'm canceling I told her, I said I want to speak to the Office Manager it was a man with an Hispanic accent I don't know his name, he was horrible kept arguing with me, wouldn't let me speak, speaking at the same time I was speaking, speaking over me, I kept telling him 2 people can't speak at the same time, I told him or was trying to tell him what I said to the 1st scheduler, he said there are a number of places called the Neurology Center maybe I'm mixed up, I told him I'm not mixed up this is the same Neurology Center where I saw Dr Einbinder in Rockville, he went into this thing Rockville has an excellent rating 4.5 not letting me speak he didn't know Rockville was irrelevant, I was trying to tell him that when I called to make an appointment I asked if they have a Doctor with a subspeciality in Complex Migraine, they said Dr Haeri I asked if the Doctor is out of Rockville they said no Chevy Chase and K Street I made the appointment for Chevy Chase, it was such an argument no need for an argument on the part of this so called Office Manager and not letting me speak I lost my cool and said a few choice words and hung up, I called back spoke to a 2nd scheduler told him the story, said my prescription insurance is very difficult to deal with practically every prescription requires prior authorization, my current Doctor they do their job getting prescriptions approved but it has at times gone on for months, with what I've read I'd never get a prescription so no matter how good Dr Haeri is what good is it seeing her no good if I can't get a prescription, the 2nd scheduler said Dr Haeri is also at K Street, I told him that's what I was told but I'd be going out of my way to go to Chevy Chase worth it for a good doctor but I'm definitely not going to K Street no matter how good the the Doctor is, I asked to be transferred to another Office Manager, he said they're all in a meeting no way to send a message, so that right there confirms everything I've read, Office Manager arguing with me wouldn't let me speak, 2nd scheduler telling me I can't write a review, and telling me no way to send a message to an Office Manager read more

The doctor is great, but the front office is a disaster. My wife called for help because her medication wasn't working, and the appointment agent yelled at her, talked down to her, and snapped that there was a five‑month wait. Completely unacceptable behavior from someone whose job is to help patients. Their messaging system doesn't work, and instead of fixing it or offering any courtesy, blame "software issues" . No empathy, no professionalism, no respect. For what this office charges, patients shouldn't have to deal with rude, sarcastic, and hostile admin staff. Doctors are very good, but communication with this practice is next to impossible. Long waits on the telephone, staff unable to provide information. Patient portal is terrible. Difficult to use, no message when new item are added, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to send messages to the practice. read more

Surprise charges and dishonest predictions on costs + a dragged out process that attempts to get you into appointments as many times as possible. The individual care providers are fine/lovely. But the billing department is aggressive on the point of harassment -- and I am not talking about them wanting to be paid in a timely fashion (e.g., within X days) -- I am talking about emails and text messages before your appointment to give them credit card information. They push one-way messages via text, email, etc., but do not support a dialog/conversation electronically, so you have to call. They push billing messages via their portal to you, but do not allow for you to message them. It made me think the whole operation was a scam -- so much so, I reported their activities. read more

The staff was extremely rude and condescending to my wife who showed up to an appointment that was made 3 months in advance. After driving for an hour to the clinic, they told her that she could not receive her infusion because she has not met with their new neurologist. The staff was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Do NOT use this clinic if you expect to be treated like a human being. read more

I was very impressed with Dr Hall and the initial sleep study they conducted in January 2024 where I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. However, I am now being told I can't have a follow-up appointment to try on masks until June! If I had known there would be this delay initially, I might have gone with a different company/organization. I have not received any reason for this unfortunate delay in getting treatment. read more

I was having some really unnerving symptoms that were probably nothing...but "probably" was causing a lot of worry. My GP referred me to the Neurology Center, and they were able to see me quickly and run the test I needed the same day. I believe I probably got lucky and had someone cancel, which let me grab the initial appointment, but they went out of their way to squeeze me in for the test because they could tell I was really worried and had traveled out of state to get there. They were compassionate and took time to explain results. read more

Dr. Eric Jeffries was helpful, nothing over the moon but was thorough and ordered tests and rx's for my back issue. The reason I am writing this review is because of the lack of care and professionalism of the staff resulting in prolonged frustration and physical pain, since I still do not have my medication due to their apathy. After my appointment with Dr. Jeffries the receptionist handed me papers for my rx. I asked if it would be possible if she could send them into my pharmacy, so they would be ready to pick up by the time I got there (I live over an hour away from the Neurology Center). She seemed very annoyed that I would ask that but agreed to. I asked again before I left when she would be putting the order in, and she said "I'll get to it right now." Almost at the pharmacy over an hour later I call to see if she has sent it in (I understand sometimes offices get busy and she may not have). I get transferred to her and she says she will do it "immediately." I think "probably not so I'll just get it tomorrow." This was a Thursday. I call on Friday (the next day) because I haven't gotten a call from my pharmacy. Another receptionist answers, I explain, she calls across the room asking if the other receptionist has done it, then tells me "she will do it right after she checks out this patient" I ask if she can please call me after she has done it, the receptionist calls across the room into the phone and says that she indeed will. The weekend goes by and it's now monday at 3:30 (they close at 4:30) and still no message from the Neurology Center. I call, the receptionist handling my rx picks up and I explain the situation. She seems annoyed, says that she did call into the pharmacy and will call them to see what's going on and will be sure to call me back 'ASAP.'(I think maybe she is annoyed because *the pharmacy* didn't follow through so I ignore it). It's now 4:20pm and they close at 4:30pm. Still no call back. I call her, she says, "oh yes I was just about to call you. We have the insurance request from the pharmacy but the person who handles these is not here today and will do it tomorrow." I clarify, "Tomorrow this will be done?" she says yes, and agrees to call me once it's finished. One week goes by. It is now Friday, I get a text message from my pharmacy and I see that an rx ready and is not the one from the Neurology Center (it's from another doctor for something else). I ask the pharmacy what's going on with this Neurology Center rx'd particular medication and they were nice enough to explain that they got the original order, but the pharmacists specifically remembers talking to the receptionist for me for this medication and the issue is that we are waiting for someone for the Neurology Center to process the request. And, if this process is not done with the insurance agency, the out of pocket expense for this medication is $1,100. I then and there contact the Neurology Center. I talk to the same receptionist I have been (her name starts with an R and ends in an A - can't say the correct pronunciation because she speaks quickly - which I do understand they have a lot of things going on). But she is EXTREMELY vague when I present her with this issue. I say that I am at the pharmacy and they are waiting on your office. She states that the person that does this processing won't be in until monday (it's been a week since she last told me that). I explain that I have been trying to get this medication, I am in severe pain, and I was told this same exact thing this past Monday. She's done with me. she says 'well the pharmacy hasn't blalalal so blalal' and tries to confuse me into thinking it is the pharmacy's fault. I explicitly ask "what do you need from the pharmacy?" she says "They can fax the order" (which they already have she's just trying to make it seem out of her hands) - I get the fax number and information, take it to the same pharmacist who told me she remembers the previous conversation and she says 'we already sent them this. I'm looking at it right now, we're waiting on them. I'm still in pain, still do not have the medication. I have a procedure at the Neurology center in a month and if I am prescribed ANYTHING I will take it to my primary care and have them prescribe for me. THere is no compassion or professionalism in this office and no veiled attempt to combat it. *** TL; DR *** The Neurology Center's services are dwarfed by the rude and unreliable office staff. Not worth going. Find another office if you are in pain or need actionable insights regarding your health. read more

No complaints here about the staff or the Doctors (Aman Savani). I have had severe migraines for over 2 years and I was quickly diagnosed and placed on a treatment plan. I would recommend this place as they are thorough and compassionate. read more

I would like to comment that I have been going to the Neurology Center in Chevy Chase for over twenty years. The practice in Chevy Chase is filled with kind, helpful, service oriented professionals that always take the time to listen to your cares and concerns and offer viable solutions. Dr. Savani is an excellent neurologist and has been treating me for several years. He is always professional, prompt, responsive, caring, and kind. He takes the time to listen to your symptoms and patiently goes through the next steps. I highly recommend Dr. Savani and the whole staff at the Chevy Chase office! I am very disappointed with Dr. Savani. He prescribed an increase in one of my medications (Gabapentin), and I felt it was the wrong dosage. I have called twice about this issue (yesterday and today) and was promised that I would get a call back. I have not gotten a call back either from the dr. or from his receptionist. I feel this is an urgent matter because the dosage he prescribed is very high and 3x what I had been taking. I am extremely frustrated and wish to switch doctors. read more

I am compelled to write a review of Dr. Herzfeld. I have been seeing her for a couple of years and she has always been sympathetic and extremely reassuring regarding some unexplained facial pains and has had me follow up yearly with tests to confirm her diagnosis. But, this past month she has gone over and above anything I have ever expected or received from any doctor. After my booster shot for COVID I started experiencing headaches which has lasted for over a month now. First of all, when you send her a message in the portal she responds within hours rather than days which, in itself, is great as she doesn't make you wait and worry. She suggested I make an appointment and when I told her that the first appointment I could get with her was in 2 month and 1 month for her PA, she fit me in for a virtual appointment at 6:00 pm last night. Dr. Herzfeld was very very reassuring and suggested I get an MRA and emphasized that she was ordering it not because she was in any way worried but just to have a test that was not radiation and was easy to do (since I get an MRA of my brain every 2 years this would be one year early and we could then wait another 2 years). At any rate, I am very grateful to her and to the staff who I called several times to try to get an appointment and who were very sympathetic and helpful as well. She truly cares for her patients and recognizes the anxiety involved with neurological issues and goes out of her way to be both thorough and empathetic and goes above and beyond to help her patients. read more

This place is awful. The receptionists are the least friendly people I have encountered in my life. From the second you walk up to say "hello, I have an appointment at 3" they look you up and down like you are wasting their time. They will leave you waiting for over an hour and when you ask what is going on, they are rude. The doctors do the bare bones. Do not expect them to remember you or even do comprehensive treatment. My experienced was mixed. Where I had some good results, they were overshadowed by the poor service of their support organizations. Bear in mind, their own Neurologist said I was lucky to be alive upon reading the results of my sleep studies. GOOD: I liked Dr. Savani (sleep Dr) and Veronica (front desk who was awesome getting preapproval from the ins company. ) BAD: Their Sleep Center listed the wrong CPAP mask on the official sleep study report which resulted in me getting the wrong mask. (this mask was tested earlier in th enight and found not to work wiih me) When working with their equipment provider (ROBERTS HOME MEDICAL) , they told me the person that provides the info on what this all costs was out for the week and there was no backup. Furthermore they could not tell me when they would be able to get me in for an apt (remember the lucky to be alive part I mentioned earlier) It was readily apparent I needed to get my medical equipment from the internet. (which I had to do because the Neurology Center had no alternative way to get me the life safing equipment they said I needed. But I'm still without a usable mask and the machine is reporting that its not working properly. no one seems to be able to address the issue. Very disappointing. read more

I went in for some tests and I had a very good experience here. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The two technicians who conducted my tests were also nice and made the process very easy and Dr. Altememi was also very nice. He made me feel very comfortable during the last test and totally forgot I was being pinched with needles. I'm very satisfied with with my experience here and highly recommend. read more

Dr Altemani was very thorough in explaining why he was recommending a battery of tests but unwillingly to give a thorough explanation of results and discharge instructions. I would not recommend any doctor who was sharp in tone and dismissive of any patient who had undergone a battery of tests. read more

The entire staff is friendly and accommodating. I am delighted with the way my elderly mother was treated here. They are friendly and efficient. Dr. Aman Savani is professional and warm. His bedside manner is terrific. He never talked "down" to my mother; on the contrary, he spoke to her as an equal. This made a very positive impression on me. My mother felt at ease speaking with Dr. Savani and was open about her symptoms. Great experience. Went back for a test and again, treated with dignity. I am sorry for anyone who had a unfortunate experience with the Neurology Center. I have been a patient with Dr. Aman Savani for almost two years -- without incident. The front-end office administrators are kind, considerate, help me with writing and walking and always take time to communicate and address medically-related documentation or concerns. The waiting times upon arrival are minimal and accounting is very understanding, and make proper provisions for payments. Dr. Savani's assistant, Mrs. Williams-Nairn, is is highly skilled, compassionate and professional. Dr. Debbie Lin is also a seasoned researcher and physician, who evaluated neurological testing during initial visits. The Neurology Team, at the Chevy Chase location, came highly recommended from specialists at the National Institutes of Health. In fact, I spoke with Ms. Gilbert, in scheduling, today. She assisted in making changes for an upcoming appoinment, checked refills, times available for Dr. Savani and Mrs. Williams-Narins, reminded me on arrival times, and asked if there was any additional information or assistance she could provide. I have always felt assessing, monitoring and servicing my care are a priority when planning for, during scheduled appointments, and receiving treatment from the Neurology Center. I would recommend this office to colleagues, associates and family! read more

I had banged my head before Thanksgiving and was in a lot of pain -- headaches, nausea, no appetite, constant sleeping. My GP referred me to the Chevy Chase Neurology Center, called them himself, and they kindly called me within the day to make an appointment with Dr. Hari Hall, which I eventually did. The person who made the appointment was very kind. However, I was not given enough information about the parking situation; there seemed to be a few parking areas which seemed to be full. There was no one there to ask information about this. I tried to find another parking area somewhere else and couldn't; I also tried to park in a residential area farther down the street and walk back. I wasn't able to make the appointment because of this parking situation. It would have been nice to have been told this would be difficult. I emphasized when I made the appointment that I was not doing well because of head trauma, would be driving myself, and would need specific details. When I called again to reschedule after getting home and lying down to get rid of my headache, I was told I would need to pay a $50 cancellation fee, which I wasn't told about upfront, and I explained the parking situation. In addition, the second person that I talked to seemed rude when I told her my birth date -- like she couldn't believe it. Because of the head and back pain and nausea I had, it took most of the day to get ready for this appointment, but trying to find parking took most of the time. I said I would try elsewhere; I am still in pain. Apparently, the staff here has no compassion for older patients. read more

I think Dr. Savani is the best doctor I have in the DC area. He takes time to talk with you and he actually listens to what you have to say. Awesome I'd recommend to anyone. Some of the administrative stuff is not the easiest to do (the online portal and such) but it's totally worth it for the quality of care provided by the doctors. read more

My daughter sustained a concussion while at the University of Maryland. She was referred to this center (actually, there are a few of them) by the University for treatment of her concussion.My daughter went here for treatment after suffering a concussion. The doctor doubted that my daughter had been drugged and that she sustained a concussion, even after my daughter was referred to the Center by the University of Maryland's Health Center for treatment. The doctor instead insisted that there "was no evidence of her being drugged" and that she "could not have sustained a concussion by hitting her head on the sidewalk from a seated position". When I asked the doctor why she doubted my daughter's statement, she said that the EEG was "normal". Well, any concussion specialist could tell you that an EEG should not have even been ordered (an MRI had been done at the hospital ER) and that a concussion would almost never show up in an EEG. Any doctor will also tell you that a concussion is a blow to the head, and that a blow to the head could be sustained from a seated position. The doctor instead treated my daughter for headaches, prescribing some very old-fashioned anti-depressants that made my daughter extremely sleepy. When I asked the CEO of the medical center to explain the treatment (both the medical and professional- shall I say UNprofessional- treatment) the CEO indicated that they do not have a concussion specialist on staff. So, why didn't they just say so instead of treating my daughter for headaches she did not have? The doctor, actually a D.O., brought a little too much of her own upbringing into the medical treatment. My daughter felt ashamed about being drugged and then suffering from a concussion after talking to this doctor. read more
