We recently contracted with Net Zero Solar for installation of an 11.3 kW solar PV system on our home rooftop in Tucson, AZ. The system includes 47 Sharp solar panels and 47 Enphase micro-inverters. The installation was completed on schedule by a courteous and professional crew of Net Zero employees and owners. Net Zero also handled all necessary permitting and interaction with Tucson Electric Power, Pima County and our sometimes difficult homeowners association. All interactions went smoothly and successfully. The solar PV system has now been operational for nearly 2 1/2 months and has met all of our expectations for system performance. A minor monitoring problem that developed early on in one of the 47 micro-inverters was corrected very promptly by Net Zero and Enphase. Based on current system performance, we are receiving a 10+% after-tax annual return on our out-of-pocket investment, net of the TEP rebate and the federal and Arizona tax credits. It is also great fun to view our system's performance real-time on the Enphase website from anywhere in the world that has Internet access. From the moment that I called NetZero and spoke with Chad I knew that I had come to the right place. What impressed me the most was that when he initially came to our home his first question was about our goals/motivation for going solar. Save money? Save the Earth? Security of electric supply during blackouts/brownouts? Go "Off grid" completely? That's where we began and he will design it to address YOUR goals. After getting estimates from other companies based on Google maps and one based on a real person coming by the house who did a cursory look at my roof I contacted Net Zero based on several positive reviews here. They sent Zach who climbed up on my roof, took measurements, looked at my electrical service panel and took pictures and took the information back with him. A few days later I got an estimate based on honest-to-gosh real numbers. After convincing the city that the roof was sound, they went to work installing my system with an upgraded service panel. After SSVEC signed off, the system went live (albeit with a few electrical modifications from the original installation). By the way, the SSVEC inspector said I picked a good company to do the installation. A few years ago, a friend of mine told me that solar systems are not capable of powering a power-hungry central air conditioning system. Well I have central air conditioning and my small 12 panel system handles it with aplomb with plenty left over to export back to the grid. Net Zero Solar installed both photovoltaic panels for generating electricity and a solar hot-water system at my residence in 2009. The installers were courteous, friendly, and very efficient. The work was completed per the promised schedule and there has been no equipment malfunction to date. Also, Chad acquired all the necessary City permits and SSVEC forms for rebates. My request for a change in the hot water temperature setting was responded to promptly. More recently, an electrical interference in my house interrupted the signal which reports electrical production of the PV panels to Enphase Energy. Chad solved the problem by installing two "bridges" to bypass the interference at no cost to me. We found a couple of local solar installers who provided good customer service. Net Zero Solar was the best. Super friendly and took plenty of time to go over stuff with us. We found a much larger firm that might have been a touch cheaper, but Net Zero provided a better quality panel and met our needs re micro-inverters and shade issues (which the big guys didn't mention). They weren't pricey, just right priced for the quality, I'd say. They also worked with us to get a placement of panels on the roof which we were comfortable with aesthetically on our old house. They continue to keep us informed of current solar/political issues b/c they care. B/c after all, we are a little geeky about wanting to know about these things. This is a great company. They know what they are doing. They spent the time I needed to understand what we needed for our house and explained clearly the 'landscape' of solar in Tucson. They were a bit pricier, but we went with them for the quality work they do. Comparing with other installations in the neighborhood they did much better. I felt much more comfortable having them work on our brand new roof than any other company I spoke with. They spent time to make sure that we had an installation with minimal visual exposure but which would meet our production needs. They were careful not to overbuild and put up more than we needed. Net Zero installed 19 panels on my house almost 2 years ago and their work was excellent. They had estimated that 19 panels would provide 99% of my needs. Actually I got $35 back from the electric company last year when the annual settlement occurred, so the panels provided slightly over 100% of my needs. Net Zero is quick to respond to questions, and provide understandable answers. Two years ago when I told my electric company that I was having panels installed, they hesitantly asked who my contractor/installer was. When I said, "Net Zero," their relief was obvious. Chad and team installed a 16 panel solar system on our home and studio/shop in July 2010. I was expecting to get about 90% of the home's electric from the panels. I have been completely satisfied, so far just one bill amounting to $57 for last 15 months. There have been no problems and they came out after about a year to check on the system etc. I really like the Enphase/Enlighten web site that shows me really time how my system is performing. I used it to see if cleaning the panels helped the performance. And yes it did help about 5% The work was done very professionally and timely. read more

The system design and implementation were great. The last minute addition of screening to deter packrats (it was a ground installation) was nicely done and didn't change the quote. All their guys were polite and I never saw anybody "lean on their shovel." My "outstanding member of the team" (other than Chad) was Louis. He was always patient with my endless questions (we engineers are like that) and clearly knew what he was doing on all electrical/electronic aspects of the system. NetZero installed our system 6 weeks ago. They did all the paperwork with TEP and did the job with no issues. The system is up and running now and generating more power than they promised. Net Zero installed a 2,600-watt system on our small house on Campbell. Every interaction we had with them was professional and courteous, and the installation itself was superbly done.
