I happened to be driving by when I got a glimpse of the business. I gave them a call and was politely greeted by a woman by the name of Lauren. After describing the issue with my computer she warmly advised me to bring it right in. I took my faithful computer in and was told the issue could be fixed by 2 pm that afternoon! Best Buy needed an appointment and would have held my computer up for a WEEK! After fixing the issue with my HP the fee was $49 which is a real bargain. Totally professional people. Very competent. You cannot beat their prices. The staff is very friendly. They even let me use their restroom (being on water pills I have to go often more than others). A free pen to boot! I have an old Dell, was running sluggish and I was getting so many errors, I couldn't get anything done in a timely manner. Not a good time for us to buy a new tower. I took it in for a clean-up. I got great personal service. Good explanations of what was going to be done. My computer came back clean and working so much better. Will be able to keep this computer around for a while. Let me just start by saying, if there were an option to give Nerd Crossing 10 stars I would. However, society has imposed a 5 star rating system upon us so I suppose 5 will have to suffice. I typically don't write reviews on anything, like nadddaaa, but Nerd Crossing most def deserves these 5 stars. After spending months and months just having my laptop sit in my room with a broken fan, I finally decided it was time to get my laptop back in action, especially with transfer dates coming up soon. Of course being the kind of person to search for the deals, I call and check up on about 3 different places to see where would be the best and cheapest place to get my fan replaced. After being disappointed by 3 different places telling me I had to pay a fee of 85, 100 and 100 JUST to get it diagnosed I kept looking. And finally, I find nerd crossing! The free consultation was what got me. The fact that they are willing to crack open your laptop just to see what was wrong FOR FREE was awesome. If I had even attempted to fix this myself, it would have costed 100 dollars just to find my fan and days and days of failure. Nerd crossing was able to find my fan and my replacement charger for 25 dollars each. SWEEETT! And on top of that, they only charged 99 dollars to get my laptop fixed and 99 dollars for a major tuneup that usually costs 169. Soo, on top of the 25 dollar YELP discount for new costumers and the 99 dollars off of the tune up, I paid 223 for something that should have been 318. Can it get any better? Not to mention the best service ever. I received updates on the work being done on my laptop and it was fixed before I even knew it. My laptop is now up and running better then ever. We contacted Jim when The Geek Squad no showed for a prescheduled appointment. We discussed with Jim what our computer issues were and he clearly stated what his pricing schedule was. We agreed on a date for service and for a small fee Jim came to our house and picked up and then redelivered our computer. The work was done on a very timely manner and was completed at the agreed upon date. I am not extremely tech savy but Jim was very clear in his explanations of what he did to fix the issue. Once re-delivered the computer is working well again. There is still a small issue that needs to be resolved but Jim is patiently working with us to resolve it successfully. I can not sing praises loudly enough for the Nerd Crossing! They were a life saver to me. I have an old Sony Viao with Vista operating system and my life is on that computer. I called several tech places all claiming to do it all, however, as soon as they learned I had an old Sony w/Vista I was teased and insulted because I had a dinosaur...one guy actually said I needed to call hospice. No one wanted to even try. Then as luck would have it....I was referred to the Nerd Crossing from the Geek Squad at Best Buy. Even though I have an annual repair contract with Best Buy, they wouldn't touch my computer either. And ironically, I bought the computer from them. Finding the Nerd Crossing was a Godsend! I paid $12 for the part, and the fabulous Geeks/Nerds @ the Nerd Crossing were able to open the computer and replace the part in a matter of a couple of hours. They were empathetic, gave it the old college try and voila...I was back in business! I can not thank them enough! If you have a hardware or software issue call them. They even build websites and do SEO. These guys are now on my speed-dial! Almost forgot to mention, they were reasonably priced too, imagine that? What a find! read more

This place saved me! My hard drive which a place in Berkeley installed in my Macbook a few years ago was just done very neglectfully, causing me a lot of problems. They were very honest, purchasing the new hard drive right off Amazon and openly telling me that and charging me the same price- unlike what someone else wrote in their review. Rocky even gave me a call while my computer was there to say he saw brand new laptops on ebay for 800 just in case I'd rather replace the whole thing. I was amazed at how nice he was! Rocky was really great to talk to actually, we must have chatted for an hour, he was nice enough to let me ask him any question I've ever had about laptops, hard drives, iphones, and pretty much any technology! He really knows his stuff, I think he said he was one of the original developers on the first iphone and is a software developer for Apple as well. All of the people there were really cool. What a relief after that place in Berkeley had lost my backups, lost my cords, and put in a new hard drive with tape wrapped around it .. read more

It was a wonderful coincidencethat the Richmond Chamber of Commerce sent out a newsletter featuring Nerd Crossing just as my computer crashed . . . earlier that day, I was offered a very lucrative project with a three-day deadline. I immediately called Nerd Crossing and Jim sent a tech out within two hours! It didn't take long to determine that the motherboard needed to be replaced; however, we opted to purchase a new computer. Jim researched the best buys in our area and sent out detailed information to help us compare prices and specifications. Jim and Mark retrieved all data on the damaged computer which was amazing. They worked on the new computer until I suggested they take a break and enjoy Thanksgiving . . . without my encouragement to quit I'm quite sure they would have worked thru turkey day. Mark delivered the computer to us on Friday morning and completed installation and ensured everything was ready to roll. The entire experience was positive . . . Jim and Mark are both courteous and professional and regretted they were unable to "save" my old pc. My previous experience with other similar "geek" groups has not been positive as they were unable to retrieve all data in a similar situation with the motherboard.
