My fiancee and I made an appointment for pedicures together after a long week. We waited 10 minutes before anyone greeted us at which point they set up our stations. A very kind employee started on my fiancee right away but the other woman who was responsible for mine did not come over for another 10 minutes. She pulled my feet out of the water, realized I had gel polish and started to remove the polish with a nail file for about 2 minutes before she told me she'd be right back. Another customer walked in for a manicure and she left me with my feet out of the water for the other client. More than 30 minutes pass by and my fiancee is done with his pedicure while mine hadn't even started. We paid for my fiancees pedicure and left. Will not be coming back. read more

I found Neon Nails during my search in the area. I know nearby nail salons normally require an appointment so I called before going and they assured no appointment is required and they were ready now. Parking is TIGHT! There's a parking lot next door that I parked at but I wasn't sure about towing so I moved and squeezed into Neon's spacing. It's a small house transformed into a salon. On the door was a sign for a mani/pedi special for $35. Soon as I walked in they asked what service I wanted, I informed them shellac yet the lady still asked if I wanted a pedicure. Lol no thank you ma'am. Despite it being 40 degrees in Houston there were quite a few people taking advantage of the pedicure special. Even men. I was seated in a massaging recliner chair as the lady did my shellac manicure near my seat. I didn't notice a price sign but once she finished I asked the total and she said $16 for the shellac manicure and $15 for the massage. Excuse me, say what? "Can you repeat that". I do not agree with them incorporating a massage without the customers approval BEFOREHAND, especially when you can get a 1-hour full body massage for $25. I asked for a shellac manicure, nothing else but I didn't argue. I kindly said ok and handed her my CC. Although the massage was a nice addition and very relaxing, I wouldn't have agreed to pay $15 for it. Overall, my nails looked great and my massage felt good as well. As you open the doors, the ladies were there to greet and welcome you with big smiles and a lot of warmth. My daughter and I both had a manicure and pedicure set up. The place is clean, the ladies were friendly and did an excellent job. This was the best french manicure I've had. I don't like the tips too thick and Lan made sure they were just to my liking. I came in with a pink and white French tip set and was missing one middle finger nail. They encouraged i keep the same nails to save time. I wanted to do pink and white again but they don't have white acrylic. So they did a white tip on me and were going to do clear over. This was a terrible thing to do because the white tip didn't match my other nail. She then said we will just paint over it. I asked if we could do a color like red acrylic to cover it. Apparently They don't do colored acrylic. They will only do regular acrylic and paint gel over it. The problem Is, you can totally see the line of the tip she used and a week later the gel chipped. It seems like they do what they know how to do really well, but do not bother to stay up with the latest trends. What bothers me is this lady looked me dead in the eye and told me gel lasts longer than acrylic, when we both know that isn't true. My gel did not last more than a week, I can only afford to get my nails done once a month and now they are already chipping and the tips/end looked bad as soon as I left. I have never come across a place that can not do basic acrylic in color or maybe they lied to me. I domt know but the whole experience was very weird and instead of giving me what I want she pushed me in the direction of what she liked. And when she didn't do a good job, she just tried to play it off. I have never met a nail lady who was okay with me walking out with bad nails. I had the best nail salon experience I've had in a while here at Neon Nails. I called around 2pm (Sunday) for a mani-pedi and the owner got me in at 3pm (I live close by). Some highlights: 1. Efficiency: although when I got there all the ladies were occupied, the owner went out of her way to sit me in a separate room to soak off the dip powder I had come in with while I waited for my turn. 2. The owner was extremely meticulous and accommodating. She made sure I knew my options with nail shape, and took her time with cuticles, filing, and polish. 4. Massages: I was given a massage with my pedicure, manicure, and back massage at the end. I appreciated this SO much. Not many salons offer this kind of customer service anymore. I felt very pampered. 5. Price: extremely reasonable. For a regular polish pedicure, gel manicure, and dip removal I paid $65. My nails are always perfect - EXCEPT! today I went in and the lady really did subpar work. I had never seen her there before. She didn't soak my nails to begin with (which I've never encountered before) and by the time she was done, one of the nails wasn't done all the way to the edge & was crooked. She didn't even put cuticle oil on. Let's just say, there were A LOT of issues, but I'll spare you. It looked like a strip center or Walmart job. However, I did the adult thing and complained to her face. I confronted her and the other technicians who gathered & asked for at least a discount. They kept saying it looked fine. The salon: This isn't an extravagant salon but it was clean and the atmosphere still felt very nice. They maybe had 10 chairs in the whole place. Ok so I can agree with the good price and you get an awesome massage with the mani but don't go if you want a good job. First they don't even have real nail chairs set up just a massage chair a vibrating pedal stool and a bucket for your feet. I got shellac on my hands and a piece of fuzz got in the base coat. My lady pulled it out and continues with the shellac leaving a giant dent in the middle of my finger. **Would have received 5 stars except for my last visit (a 1 star experience) so I am giving them 3 to give them the benefit of the doubt** This has been my go to spot the last 2ish years for my nails and eyebrows. The prices are unbeatable and the customer service is typically really professional and nice. They also always incorporate a back massage with the mani pedi and that is awesome. HOWEVER, my last experience there makes me very hesitant to return. I went in with an appointment booked and ended up having to wait over 30 minutes. I didn't really mind because I understand that they were busy and I would never be that person who complains about waiting when the place is clearly understaffed and there are lots of customers. But I noticed that when an older woman came in and acted visibly annoyed about the wait (keep in mind that she had been there a shorter amount of time than me), they went ahead and started on her nails before mine. Okay. Really? They started on my eyebrows and nails only a couple minutes later and were apologetic about the wait but that still rubbed me the wrong way. Anyway I let it slide and said I understood. FIRSTLY-my eyebrows. Usually they look bomb but this time they did not. They were just eh. Cleaned up for sure, but she didn't shape them or anything. It was a woman who usually does a good job and I figured she was having an off day so I just thanked her and paid for them and was secretly disappointed. SECONDLY-my nails. What happened with them is really what killed my experience here. It was a new lady who I had never seen before who did them. She was very aggressive and made literally THREE of my nails bleed a lot. I have sensitive skin and this has happened before, so after the first one bled a little I didn't mind. But she KEPT on cutting at the cuticle making it bleed more and more until I had to tell her to stop with that nail because it was hurting so much and bleeding a ton. But she went on and did it to 2 more of them! Usually when that happens with one nail, they clean it up and don't keep on cutting the cuticle and are more gentle, so I am really not sure what she was thinking... Also, I got a shellac manicure and when she started to apply the final top coat, I noticed that she hadn't applied enough coats of the color and I could still see obvious streaks of my nail. So I did what I have never done at a nail salon before (I don't like making it awkward ok) and told her to redo it. She did and it looked better but there was dried blood on multiple nails and I was over it all. I told her I didn't want a back massage because I was ready to just get out at that point. I will most likely go back and specifically request any of the other women next time I am in Houston and want to get my nails done. But it definitely won't be for a while. read more

When I pointed it out, she made me feel like a nuisance. She fixed 2 out of the 5 nails and continued on to my other hand. Nothing to drink, they left me waiting with no greeting for 10 minutes when I walked in, and they did not help me put my purse away so I just had to sit with it in my chair. Literally the SECOND they did the last stroke of paint on your nails they say thank you and leave. There are no lights to cure your nails so 30 mins later I already have chips in them. The worst though was the pedicurist who kept pushing my cuticles even though I told her she was hurting me!! Then the disposable flip flops they give you were literally paper. I couldn't even get to my car in them. SUPER UPSETTING! I wish I had gotten a refund but I didn't see a manager and didn't want to say anything directly to the girls who did my nails. read more
