Another amazing Vancouver find! This coffee shop was packed already first thing in the morning. The cashier was super nice and gave us some great pastry recommendations. I'm always on the hunt for the best kourign amann and this one is definitely on the top list. The cruffin and tiramisu croissant were also great options for a nice sweet breakfast pastry. I always make a point to come here when I visit Vancouver! Great oat milk latte, great pastries, great ambience--it's truly everything I want in a cafe. I usually get dessert-fatigued easily from sweetness, but not in this case. The dough on the pastries is super flaky and makes for the perfect croissant. The latte was also very impressive to me, I couldn't even tell that it was oat milk because the froth was so good. read more

I'm glad I made it here during my visit to Vancouver! This particular location is in a very cool rose-shaped building and it's surprisingly big inside with a wide seating area. I went on a Saturday morning after 10am and it was quite busy with a constant line forming at the door. They have a good system in place where you order at the counter and then they put your name down for a table. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long for ours. We shared a few pastries, which were very photogenic and had fun flavor combos.. not the best ones I've had but yummy nonetheless. I really loved the ube mango matcha though! We stopped here for coffee and cruffins, and it was just lovely. The staff is very friendly, and it was not too busy. The building (inside and out) is beautiful. Food tastes as good as it looks. I've heard they can sell out if cruffin flavours if you go too late, so maybe keep that in mind. The 2 of us shared one but probably could have both had one if we hadn't eaten breakfast already. Decided to come to this location for the beautiful interior and wasn't disappointed! We arrived around 11am on a Thursday and almost all the seats inside were taken. We ordered the seasonal Ube Matcha Latte and another drink that had tumeric in it (i forgot the name :( ). We also ordered the Tropical (mango) Cruffin. Both the drinks tasted great and unique. Wow this is my second time here.. so tasty! The puff pastry is *chef's kiss* SO flaky and all the pastries here are stunning. This is definitely a busy cafe so I recommend coming during off hours if possible. The cornflake cookie was a bit disappointing. IMO it did not really taste like cornflakes, just sweet. I like cornflakes a lot so this was disappointing. All other pastries were great! I especially liked the pistachio swirl because of the toasted sugar on the edges. Also it's hard to tell but the croissants are generally filled with some sort of flavored cream. I'm not a huge fan of cream so I personally did not like this one as much. I stopped by on a Thursday morning around 11:00 a.m. and there was no lines. My wife and I shared a salmon danish and it was delicious. The pastry was flakey and buttery and the salmon mousse was smooth and the salmon flavor was very prevalent. The small bit of lemon zest on top was a nice touch as well. For $20 for two espresso drinks and a pastry, it's not the cheapest around, but it's a wonderful way to treat yourself. Street parking is available across the street if you're lucky. read more

I had this place on my list for a long time but never made the trip out. Now that I've been, I definitely want to come again soon. Let's just say if I was an Emily Carr student, I'd go broke fast with this amazing coffee shop right there. Free parking is a little out of the way - along Great Northern Way (but was full) or the neighbourhood across the street to the south, about a 5-10 minute walk. First of all, the building is stunning. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. Interestingly, the staff seat you and bring your food out to you after you order, unlike most coffee shops. It was a nice day so we opted for an outdoor table. It would be great if they added more trees so there are more shady seats. Service is really good. They bring out water after you order, including sparkling water which is also complimentary. One staff noticed I had already drank it all when he brought by the coffee we ordered, so he offered to refill it. I really wanted to try their cruffins and I heard they have many amazing flavours to choose from. Unfortunately, they were sold out of all but one flavour the day we came, so we settled with the orange honey chamomile cruffin, which was amazing. Then, we got a large chocolate chip cookie to share, which was equally as delicious. If I ever find myself in the area again, I would drop by for a snack and a refreshing glass of sparkling water. read more

Tl;dr delicious pastry's and good coffee I'm not a very discerning coffee drinker but the cortado with oat milk was amazing. The espresso shot flavor really came through. Nemesis has the best croissants I've tried in the lower mainland! Their creative flavour combinations, along with consistently high quality, have always impressed me. Also notable are their drinks - they are so special, and I'm still thinking about their hojicha maple latte from a while back. Their service is top-notch: my last visit was during a high-traffic time of day (and week). This location is so aesthetic! The outside reminds me of a pomegranate to be honest! The interior is absolutely stunning and it's a great place to work or just to chat with friends. I was kind of indecisive between the kombucha and the elder wood flower apple soda, and the staff was so friendly and let us sample them both. Unfortunately they ran out of kombucha so we got the elderwood flower soda instead. There were limited seatings so I liked the fact that the staff guided us to an open available seat rather than us finding our own. This is so that every customer who's paying gets an seat based on first come first serve basis. And those who are behind us cannot ask their friends to take seats before us. The elderwood flower apple soda was on a smaller side than what I expected. The taste was fantastic though! Overall service was pretty good! This is a beautiful space for coffee! Located on the campus of Emily Carr University of Art and Design, it is fitting that the architecture for this coffee shop is striking. A beautiful pastry display greets you as you enter and it's really hard to resist not picking one out! They have a variety of roasts good for either espresso or pour over. I went with an Ethiopian bean that was delicious. The complimentary still or sparkling water taps are a nice touch. Watch out for that sparkling water tap which seems to be overpressurized the last few times i was there. As you can imagine, it's pretty popular place to sit and relax so they want to know if you are staying or taking to go. Epic place to caffeine up! read more

Luxurious croissants sold at Nemesis. First, their outer design is really cool! You can tell it's right next to the Arts university. Then you walk in and there's a load of croissant selections. They're all filled with delicious creams. They also have cruffins (croissant + muffin)! I tried their savoury items for the first time and I had the bodega sandwich but without the meat. The cheese and bread was pretty good but I was a little bit disappointed that they didn't have a lot of vegetarian options. The cruffin was flaky, sugary and filled with raspberry! Quite delicious. I've also had their stuffed croissants before and they're HEAVY. Very delicious but a little too much sometimes. Their coffee is good too. It gets pretty busy on weekends so go earlier if you want to secure a seat! There are time limits on busy days/times. read more

@nemesis.coffee has such a good collection of treats, brunch items and drinks. The Vancouver location is so cute but it does have limited seating so go early! They have a very efficient system to serve customers and get the tables ready for the next groups so don't worry too much if you don't see a spot right away. The brunch items may not look big but they were actually so flavourful and filling that it was a very satisfying experience. Good service and nice vibe in there too! Loved the specialty coffee they used which left my cortado with a bit of fruity acid while retaining some bold roasty flavors. The banana caramel cruffin I got was baked by Dope Bakehouse and sold in-store. It was also good, though I do wish I got one without the caramel sauce. I did really like the banana cream and the cruffin pastry though. The building exterior is a striking bulb shape in a bright red color that really draws the eye. The interior is more muted with cloth "ribbings" running up towards a central skylight. Reminds me of a pomegranate lol. Honestly a cool place to go even if you aren't super interested in coffee/pastries. It was very crowded for late Friday morning with all the workers from the nearby Samsung building. You have to order at the counter before you can be seated which is nice to keep the crowds from swarming the limited number of tables inside. read more

Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Nemesis is easily one of my favourite coffee shops in the city! They have 2 other locations in Gastown and North Van but this one is definitely the most gorgeous from the inside and out! I've only gone mid-week at the end of the day close to closing so haven't seen any of the lineups others talk about but definitely believe it can get busy based on the fact that it's right next to Emily Carr and a great spot for pastries. As for the service, all the staff are super nice and friendly from the minute you walk in which is refreshing since some very well-known coffee shops have less than enthusiastic staff inside. Now for the main star - the pastries! Based on my couple of times here I've tried quite a few of their items and can say that every single thing has been AMAZING but some of my favourites are the lemon meringue croissant (strong lemon flavour), the chamomile orange honey cruffin (light on the orange flavour and heavier on the honey), and the chocolate hazelnut cookie sandwich. Their pastries aren't cheap (~$6-$7 for the stuffed croissants and cruffins) but they're well worth the price. I haven't had a chance to try their brunch items but definitely look forward to in the future! read more

Came here for an afternoon coffee and a snack and ended up buying a box of goodies to try later! Beautiful pastries taste even better! Had the cranberry croissant and it was just the right balance of tart and sweet! Not too much filling to overwhelm but not skimpy either! I had the Americano which was good but I think what makes this place special is the cute red building it's in and the great staff especially the baristo (?) Solid coffee shop close to Emily Carr University. This has to be the coolest looking coffee shop in town. The red flower looking building is a real stunner. Parking is available along Great Northern Way, as well as the side streets towards the S side. The place sure is busy. The lineup snaked out of the building and wrapped around. The interior is modern and spacious. Interesting pentagon hole in the middle of the ceiling and wavy interior. There is also a large outdoor patio to the W of the building. Staff were friendly and cheerful and helpful. Special mention. The pastries here are quite good I must say. The tiramisu croissant was beautiful. Light and fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness and cream. Coffee was tasty too. Definitely worth checking out if one is into the hipster coffee experience. read more

Really love Nemesis! I would dock off a star for their location, and the difficulty to find convenient parking... but then I would add in another star for how beautiful the venue is! One sunny day in the middle Of a bike ride, we decided to take a coffee break at Nemesis. Having always wanted to pass by but never got the chance with the long line-ups and covid protocols, We finally found an opening and set forth. Amazing architectural design bar none! No other coffee shop in yvr looks like this. Inside looks even better with the nicely designed ceiling. Pastries were superb! We ordered the choco-banana muffin which was cross between a scone and muffin i think. So moist and packed full of flavour. Of course we had to try the classic croissant to see how it measures up to other places. Lastly, the cappuccino to slowly savour the moment. No words. Everything was superior. Had a good experience sitting down and watching the world go by while enjoying an excellent cup of java paired with amazing pastries. Perfect pairings if you will. Service was efficient and quick. Even with a line, things proceeded smoothly. Theres plenty of space Inside and out. Tip: you can't reserve seats. You have to line-up first and inform the staff you want to sit outside or inside. Then, you will be seated. I've noticed staff cleaning and sanitizing tables after every use. A big plus!! For sure i will pass by again when i get the chance. We driving on the GNW when I noticed a huge red structure and then noticed Nemesis written on the glass door. I quickly checked maps and realised it was a branch of Nemesis Coffee (we've been to the one in Gastown). Double backed and parked in the street parking nearby. As obvious the highlight of this place is the architecture, both outside and inside. Gorgeous and perfect for those insta pictures. Were here on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed. Luckily got 2 bar seats. There were only 2 cruffin flavors remaining. Menu is similar to the Gastown location. We got the mocha and Boston Cream Cruffin. The cruffin, as expected, was a delight! Nemesis Coffee - Great Northern Way, has come out in absolute splendor in a newly opened spot right beside Emily Carr University of Art & Design. This building is funky, eye catching, grandiose, bewildering, spectacular bright & cool like dat!!! The bold bravado design makes its location highly & appropriately positioned right next to a university of art & design. Wow bravo & hands down to the designers & architects!!! Originally supposed to have opened last year but we all know what that bloody bat out of Wuhan did to the entire world! Located in one of my very favourite neighbourhoods, Mount Pleasant, this coffee house will be a dream for IG & Yelpies so come ready to snap away! Of note - get here earlier in the day as they will run out of baked goodies! Many will be familiar with Nemesiss' Gastown location in downtown Vancouver as well as their North Vancouver location @ The Shipyards District! I've popped in there a few times over the last few months & only been able to walk away with just ... coffee! Nemesis offers a variety of coffees, so Yelpies you'll have to experiment amongst yourselves to find out which one is the right taste for you! They sell their pastries fresh daily & once sold out - you're coming back tommorow! So be aware! Also of note - there is some construction taking place close by for the new Broadway Line subway station. However, this will not interrupt you while you're chomping down on a croissant (Nemesis has some of the baddest as in greatest - croissants in town) or sipping your coffee. Locals will love this spot. For those coming in from across town - more of a 'looky loo' type situation, before heading over to vibrant Main street or towards downtown Vancouver. Please note that once university classes resume on a regular basis in September, it will be extremely hard to get in here - so I highly recommend you check out Nemesis now & throughout the summer! Apparently Nemesis which will be open till approximately 4pm daily (check hours online) is working on getting a liquor license & hopes to offer a dinner menu eventually with extended operating hours!
